    Family-like community with excellent care

I'm very pleased with this welcoming, family-like community - friendly, caring staff and skilled caregivers who provide personalized care and responsive management. Rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely appointed with private baths; the food is good and special diets are accommodated. Plenty of activities and amenities (PT, library, salon, bingo, cable in rooms) and strong transition/communication support make it feel like excellent value; I'd recommend it to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Alexandria Manor presents a mixed but largely positive profile for prospective residents and families. Strengths frequently cited include spacious accommodations (both larger semi-private rooms and private rooms), on-site clinical resources such as physical therapy and physician services, and a range of building amenities — a salon/barber shop, laundry, basement library and activity/therapy spaces, and cable in resident rooms. Many families describe a household atmosphere that feels home-like, with long-term local ownership, friendly caregivers, and timely management involvement; these factors contribute to a perception of good value and trustworthiness.

Care quality is characterized by two distinct patterns. Numerous comments praise caring, attentive staff, personalized communication, and helpful transition support; hospice services are available and used. At the same time, reviewers indicate operational weaknesses that affect day-to-day care: staffing instability and turnover, inconsistent staff availability for one-on-one needs, and occasional lapses that families address by increased presence. These patterns suggest that the facility can deliver strong, individualized care when adequately staffed, but that continuity may vary depending on staffing levels and shift coverage.

Dining and activities are likewise mixed. The facility offers dining rooms on each floor with buffet-style service and the ability to accommodate special diets; several residents and families described meals positively. However, others noted pre-prepared meals and inconsistent dietary accommodations and meal quality. Activity programming includes exercise classes, bingo, a range of daily activities, and communal TV/library spaces — amenities that keep many residents engaged. Still, some reviewers found activity spaces dreary or activity quality uneven, indicating variability in resident engagement depending on programming and staffing.

Facility condition and operations show strengths and weaknesses. Reviewers appreciate larger-than-average rooms, private bathrooms, and a variety of in-house amenities, but also describe dated areas, inconsistent cleanliness/odor control in some common areas, and temperature-control problems such as cold first-floor conditions and drafty entrances. Security and reception procedures are an operational concern for several families: front-desk staffing can be intermittent, there is limited sign-in/out or monitored entry, and reception responsiveness and professionalism appear inconsistent across shifts. Marketing and intake practices were also questioned in a few instances for accuracy or tone.

Overall, Alexandria Manor may be a good fit for families seeking roomy accommodations, on-site therapy, and a small, community-oriented facility with local ownership. Prospective residents should evaluate current staffing levels, front-desk procedures, and activity scheduling during a visit — and ask about housekeeping frequency, climate control, and specific dietary needs — to determine whether the facility’s operational consistency matches their expectations for daily care and supervision.

    About Alexandria Manor

Alexandria Manor sits in Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Bath, Pennsylvania, and has been family-owned and operated for over 25 years, offering a range of care that covers assisted living, independent living, home care, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and nursing home services all in a classic colonial-style building that gives off a home-like, comfortable feeling without being too large or crowded so you won't feel lost and staff can really pay attention to personal needs, since there's a compassionate team that handles medication management, help with bathing, dressing, and moving around, as well as daily living chores. Residents get to use their own private or semi-private room with a private bathroom if they want, and every room's got air conditioning, a telephone, and cable TV, all at no extra charge, and there's an emergency alert system beside the bed and in the bathroom so safety's always a thought, plus wheelchair access and full building safety features like monthly fire drills, CPR-certified staff, and pull-bell systems.

Meals are prepared by chefs and meal planners, and you get three meals a day, snacks included, with special diets like Kosher, diabetic, or low salt all taken care of, and restaurant-style dining means there's always someone to share a table with, and if you like to eat at odd times there's all-day dining options too, while the kitchen always keeps home cooking in mind, which suits residents who enjoy familiar, simple food. There's plenty for people to do, and Alexandria Manor features a barbershop and a beauty salon, a TV room, library, garden, activity and game rooms, spa/wellness room, music and arts spaces, as well as walking paths and outdoor spaces-so whether someone wants bingo, movie nights, live entertainment, arts and crafts, or scheduled resident-run activities organized by the staff or residents themselves, nobody really gets left with nothing to do. A fitness room and daily programs, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy on-site, give residents a good shot at staying active and enjoying daily life; residents or visiting family can take advantage of outdoor decks and green spaces, and there's transportation and parking help, so you don't need to be stuck inside if you don't want to be.

For people who might only need a short stay, there's respite care, and for those wishing to stay in their own homes, the home care team provides help and keeps seniors living safely and comfortably, often with the same attention and care as those in residence, thanks to trained aides familiar with what seniors need. The staff coordinates all the complicated things, from transition paperwork to moving services-and when you need lab work, X-rays, or a doctor, those are available within the building, so there's rarely a need to travel far for basic healthcare. Housekeeping, laundry, and dry-cleaning services all come included, and there's on-site pharmacy options with affordable medication rates, plus family support services so relatives don't have to worry too much about managing a loved one's care from afar.

Alexandria Manor is certified by the Department of Public Welfare and keeps a safe and secure environment for all residents, with specialized memory care programs, 12 to 16 hours of nursing care a day, and rooms designed for comfort and privacy-offering services at a monthly rate that aims to stay lower than some others, but with all the necessary amenities like Wi-Fi, furnished rooms (while still letting you bring your own things), large dining and living spaces, allergy-sensitive menus, and designated care options for people needing more attention or assistance. Alexandria Manor has received awards for activities and friendliness, and the community evaluation score sits at 8.0, which means families often feel good about the place after visiting. Tours are available, and there's someone around to answer questions, the aim really seems to be about keeping things calm, friendly, and practical for residents, families, and staff every day.
