    Beautiful grounds and attentive staff

My parent lives here and I'm very pleased. The grounds are beautiful - lake, gardens and walking paths - and the modern apartments have full kitchens, patios and plenty of space. The facility offers a pool, therapy, frequent activities and transportation, and maintenance/cleaning is prompt. Most of all the staff are warm, attentive and know residents by name; I'd strongly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

The Community at Rockhill presents as a modern, well-maintained retirement campus with a wide range of amenities and an attractive groundscape. Residents and family visitors commonly praised the landscaping, lake views, indoor heated pool and hot tub, fitness and therapy areas, and on-site creative spaces such as studios, greenhouses and raised garden beds. Apartment offerings span studios through two-bedroom units with full kitchens, washer/dryer options, patios or sunrooms, and there is on-site assisted living, skilled nursing and hospice support that many families described as convenient and reassuring.

Care and staffing are a central contrast in the reviews. Many accounts emphasize attentive, personalized staff who know residents by name, prompt maintenance response, and accessible therapy and hospice services. At the same time, reviews point to inconsistent staffing levels—particularly in nursing—and variability in staff morale and conduct following organizational changes. A number of reviewers described understaffed shifts or reduced aide availability, which reviewers linked to slower service and occasional declines in responsiveness.

Dining and activity programming are generally viewed positively but with qualifications. The facility’s restaurant-style dining and often-praised meals are a strength, though some reviewers found menus repetitive and noted that pandemic- and staffing-related changes have reduced meal-service continuity (for example, limited dining hours or forced external dining). Activity offerings are broad—concerts, bus trips, yoga, Tai Chi, bingo, arts and crafts, and organized grocery runs—alongside active resident social life; however, some observers experienced limited programming variety in certain units or reliance on trips to other campuses for additional events.

Operational and access issues recur as notable patterns. Several reviewers raised concerns about ongoing construction or renovations that can be disruptive, limited elevator access that can constrain internal circulation, and small one-bedroom unit footprints. Cost was a frequently mentioned constraint: the community is perceived as expensive with limited affordability for some families and concerns about billing transparency. A minority of reviewers raised serious safety-related issues such as building-access control gaps and unexpected billing interactions; these items appear isolated in number but are significant in nature and suggest the need for clearer communication about security protocols and financial practices. Overall, the Community at Rockhill is frequently recommended for its facilities, grounds and caring staff, but prospective residents and families should ask targeted questions about staffing levels, elevator/access logistics, construction timelines, security measures and billing procedures during the decision process.

    About The Community at Rockhill

The Community at Rockhill sits on a quiet 44-acre campus in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, and has been taking care of seniors for over 30 years, using a holistic approach that focuses on personal needs, with special care plans for each resident; you'll see a range of living options, from maintenance-free apartments to single rooms and larger two-bedroom units, all designed for adults 55 and over, and you'll find Personal Care, Independent Living, Memory Support, Long-Term Nursing, Short-Term Rehabilitation, and Hospice all available right on the same grounds. This faith-based, not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC, welcomes people from different backgrounds and offers spiritual support through weekly services and gatherings, plus special groups for faith and emotional support like Bible study, rosary, stress management classes, and low vision meetings. Residents regularly join in group activities such as book clubs, quilting, trivia, meditation, exercise classes at the Fitness and Aquatic Center, woodshop projects, and creative arts, not to mention social hours, facilitated outings, volunteer chances, and community events like games and dances, and there's always something happening on their dynamic calendar.

You'll find wide hallways, bright rooms filled with natural light, and tranquil garden and patio areas, so even those who like quiet time outside have many places to enjoy, including nature trails and a barbecue pavilion, and while cats or small dogs aren't allowed, people sometimes spot wildlife or enjoy the garden views from accessible patios and walking paths. There's a mix of amenities like an on-site pharmacy, beauty and barber shop, computer room, laundry and linen service, secured grounds, and assigned parking, and the dining room, called Hilltop Harvest at Alderfer, serves three meals a day, with special diets for people who need low-fat, diabetic, low-salt, or renal meals, plus room service and guest meals.

The facility puts a big focus on health, with a skilled team of nurses and doctors on site, plus therapists for physical, occupational, and rehabilitation therapy; some nursing staff are present 24/7, and there are regular visits from physical and occupational therapists and other specialists. Residents who need help can get medication management, help with daily tasks like bathing or housekeeping, and support with scheduling and transportation to local shops, appointments, or entertainment, plus grocery trips or off-site excursions. The gate, the emergency response services, and the staff's constant presence help make safety a key feature, and there's always someone close by.

Housekeeping, laundry, linen care, Wi-Fi, and cable add to the comfort, while people who choose independent living get their own apartments with full-size kitchens or kitchenettes, and those in personal care might have private or suite-style rooms, with the option for assisted living help as needed. There are opportunities for people who want respite care, short-term rehab, or even long-term skilled nursing, and Medicaid is accepted for payment. The Community at Rockhill has a strong record of compassion and connection, with dedicated staff who make the place feel warm, friendly, and welcoming, and residents can keep busy, make friends, or find peaceful corners whenever they please.
