    Compassionate staff, clean welcoming facility

I'm very pleased with Cambridge House under Vivant. The staff - from reception to nursing and housekeeping - are compassionate, friendly, and routinely go above and beyond. The facility is clean and welcoming, the lobby is beautiful, meals are good, rehab and PT communication are timely, and family access is easy. My mom felt at home and well cared for; overall I find it a very good place and recommend their team.

    Summary of reviews

Viviant Healthcare of Bristol elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many families and visitors describe a core of compassionate, dedicated staff — particularly among nursing, therapy, housekeeping, and reception teams — who create a welcoming atmosphere, foster friendships, and deliver observable rehabilitative progress for some residents. Positive remarks highlight accessible PT communication, engaging activities, appreciated meal service, and areas of the facility that are well maintained and clean. Multiple accounts also note that the facility has shown improvement over time and that staff frequently go beyond basic duties to support residents and families.

At the same time, a recurring set of operational and clinical concerns appears across accounts. There are multiple descriptions of inconsistent clinical care and medication-management controls, including missed or delayed treatments and canceled external appointments, which families identify as affecting clinical outcomes. Personal-care processes such as bathing and incontinence-related care are described as irregular, and there are instances of pressure wounds and functional decline cited after transfers or during stays. These issues suggest gaps in routine care delivery and prevention practices.

Communication and management present additional patterns of risk. Several families describe poor responsiveness from administration, unclear or delayed family notification about incidents, and weak coordination with outside providers. Financial-transaction issues — including upfront charges, refund delays, and billing disputes — are a distinct theme that points to weaknesses in fiscal administration. Reports also describe mismanagement of room placements and occasional operational instability, which may be disruptive for residents and families.

Facility physical condition and safety perceptions are mixed. Many reviewers praise clean, well-kept common spaces and orderly food service, while others note sanitation and odor concerns in some resident rooms and maintenance issues such as worn furnishings. A small number of accounts raise security and incident-reporting gaps related to events near the facility; those comments indicate a need for clearer incident communication and safety protocols.

Overall, prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s evident strengths in compassionate, rehabilitation-oriented caregiving and community life against documented inconsistencies in clinical administration, personal care routines, communication, and financial management. If considering placement, families may want to ask for written care plans and medication-administration protocols, verify how bathing and wound-prevention are scheduled, request examples of recent care-coordination with outside providers, and obtain clear, itemized billing and refund policies. These steps can help clarify whether the facility’s operational practices align with an individual resident’s clinical and administrative needs.

    About Viviant Healthcare of Bristol

Viviant Healthcare Of Bristol sits on 250 Bellebrook Rd in Bristol, Tennessee, and serves seniors who need skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and palliative care, so it's a facility that's been around since 1986, though the physical plant shows some wear and needs a few repairs, like after a leak that happened before, but the main thing people notice is that most of the residents here need a lot of help-almost everyone needs staff to help them move around, over ninety percent can't walk on their own and spend their days in a wheelchair or bed, most need help with bathroom use or incontinence, and over forty percent have dementia, so care for challenging conditions is a regular part of daily life. Residents do have access to a number of amenities, such as a dining room with meal service-meals are restaurant-style, and they try to meet special diets, especially for things like diabetes-plus Wi-Fi, cable, air-conditioning, private rooms with bathrooms, fitness space, a gaming room, a garden area, a small library, and spots around the community for visits and activities, so staff focus on activities tailored to each person, like arts and crafts, social programs, and even planned day trips when possible. There's a 24-hour call system, and healthcare is always the main focus, with medication management, therapy services such as physical, occupational, and speech, as well as help with bathing, dressing, and transfers, and they promise to support residents' dignity, respect, and well-being, using a team of healthcare professionals who aim to create a caring place.

Despite having a range of healthcare and supportive services, Viviant Healthcare Of Bristol has a long record of state survey deficiencies from March 2017 to June 2023, including findings that show both immediate jeopardy and actual harm toward residents, and the place has had ongoing problems with safe staffing levels-over ninety-four percent of days in 2022 and 2023 had CNA staffing below two hours per resident per day, which falls short of recommended safety minimums, so this has led to poor ratings for overall care, health inspections, staffing, and quality measures and the place has even made it onto the NHAA Watchlist for those serious problems. They do offer options for virtual tours, in-person visits, and will talk with families and residents about specific care needs, and they're set up for both short-term rehab and long-term care; however, the facility's skilled nursing license is currently inactive, though it can be renewed for those who need it, and the building itself is classified as a "B" quality, standing in need of general clean-up. On the property, you'll find a beauty salon/barbershop, laundry and housekeeping help, computer center access, safety features for those with handicaps, and transportation options for both medical and non-medical outings, and the staff provide personal care, wound care, podiatry, laundry, wellness checks, and more, with community-run activities and spaces set up for social gathering or quiet time, so for seniors needing more hands-on care, structured health services, and a spectrum of activities, this facility provides a wide range of services even if it has struggled with keeping care at the safest levels in the past. The facility has had a BBB file open since July 2023 but isn't accredited, and the nursing home services are offered under a receivership process, meaning it's up for sale, but with a history of certification and inspection records you can review if you want to get a better picture of its past and what kind of care is typically provided.
