    Spacious safe community excellent care

I live in a spacious one-bedroom with a full kitchen and in-unit washer/dryer in a gated, beautifully maintained community. Staff are friendly and responsive, dining is consistently excellent with multiple entree choices, and there are abundant activities and amenities (pools, salon, library, excursions) plus on-site higher levels of care. Overall very good - I feel safe, well cared for, and would recommend this welcoming community.

    Summary of reviews

Broadway Cityview is presented across reviews as a large, well-appointed senior community with an extensive amenity set and multiple levels of care. Positive comments emphasize chef-driven dining, a broad activities calendar, indoor pool and fitness facilities, spacious apartment and villa options (many with full kitchens and in-unit laundry), and on-site rehab services. Many residents and family members describe an active social environment, organized excursions, and a strong engagement team that runs water aerobics, Zumba, arts, games, and regular live entertainment.

Staffing impressions are mixed. A substantial portion of reviewers praise individual caregivers, therapists, activities leadership, housekeeping, and front-desk teams for being compassionate, knowledgeable, and accessible. Therapy teams (physical/occupational/speech) are frequently singled out as effective for short-term rehab and transitional stays. At the same time, there is a recurring cluster of clinical concerns: inconsistent nursing performance, missed personal-care tasks (such as bathing and grooming), missed or delayed medication administration, and variable responsiveness to call lights. These issues are often described as uneven across shifts and floors, with particular concerns about night coverage and follow-through on clinical orders.

Dining and activities are overall strengths but show variability. Many reviewers highlight high-quality, varied menus, three-entree choices, chef interaction, and popular weekly events. Others note inconsistent meal quality and service problems at dinner or during busy periods. The activities program is consistently noted as robust and engaging; reviewers describe a wide range of options that contribute to social connection and resident satisfaction.

Physical campus and amenities receive frequent praise: landscaped grounds, gated community, salon, concierge-style transport, and a continuum of housing from independent villas to memory care. Maintenance and housekeeping are often commended for keeping common areas orderly, and many residents report a strong sense of community. However, some reviews describe deferred maintenance, noisy or problematic HVAC/water pressure in specific units, and isolated pest-control concerns. A number of reviewers also describe frustrations with billing, accounting, and administrative responsiveness, including unclear charges and slow resolution of financial questions.

Taken together, Broadway Cityview appears to offer a high level of amenities, an active social environment, and strong therapy services, which satisfy many residents and families. At the same time, recurring operational themes — inconsistent clinical nursing care, medication-management gaps, variable housekeeping/personal-care follow-through, staffing shortfalls (especially overnight), and administrative/billing issues — are significant patterns that prospective residents and family members should investigate. Recommended pre-move steps include asking for current staffing ratios and night coverage plans, detailed medication-administration policies, recent state inspection and corrective-action records, pest-control procedures, sample menus and a meal observation, and clear written billing practices. These checks can help determine whether Broadway Cityview’s amenities and programming match an individual’s medical and personal-care needs.

Broadway Cityview is managed by Watermark Retirement.

Watermark Retirement Communities is a premier senior living operator managing over 70 communities across 21 states with approximately 5,800 associates, ranked as the nation's 9th-leading senior housing operator by the American Seniors Housing Association. Founded in 1985 by David Freshwater and David Barnes as The Fountains in Tucson, Arizona, the company pioneered wellness-based senior living in collaboration with the University of Arizona Center on Aging before rebranding as Watermark in 2006. Headquartered in Tucson, Watermark became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Keppel Corporation in March 2024, following Keppel's initial 50% acquisition in 2019, with Paul Boethel succeeding the founders as CEO while Freshwater continues as Chairman Emeritus.

The company's signature Watermark University is an award-winning intergenerational learning program where residents, associates, family members, and local experts—including museum curators, university professors, and world-renowned doctors—teach dozens of classes ranging from watercolor painting and ballroom dancing to language learning and sculpture workshops. The Thrive Memory Care experience includes secure courtyards, multi-sensory environments with fresh flowers, music therapy, and sensory gardens. Their groundbreaking Thrive Dining (Gourmet Bites) program transforms nutritious meals into attractive, bite-sized portions that residents can enjoy independently without utensils. The company leads the industry in technology innovation with EngageVR, a virtual reality program using Oculus Quest headsets that enables residents to travel virtually to the pyramids of Egypt, swim with whales, or reconnect with veterans from their battalions in virtual living rooms. The 360Well wellness program integrates four key circles—mind, body, spirit, and community—to promote holistic health and independence. Through partnerships with the University of Arizona's Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Institute and Curana Health for value-based care delivery in Florida, Texas, and Pennsylvania, Watermark continues advancing senior care research and innovation.

Following a "shrinking to grow" strategy under new leadership, Watermark focuses on operating premium communities while maintaining its founding philosophy that they are "a wellness company that happens to provide housing and services for seniors," committed to creating experiences where residents truly feel at home with purpose, possibility, and joy.
