    Immaculate community with caring staff

I toured this community and I'm very pleased. The staff are caring and responsive, the facility is immaculate with beautiful, well-manicured grounds and a welcoming porch, and the many amenities - dining, salon, library, chapel and activities - truly make it feel like home; management and maintenance are proactive, and residents seemed happy, so I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Clarewood House appears to offer a well-established campus with a broad set of services and a strong community orientation. Reviewers commonly praise the staff’s attentiveness, multiple levels of care (independent through extended care), a wide range of on-site amenities, and active programming that supports social engagement. Grounds and public areas are frequently described as clean and well maintained, and the campus features a gated entry with 24/7 reception and security presence.

Care and staff: Families and residents often highlight compassionate, responsive caregivers, proactive RN communication, and access to on-site rehabilitation and physician visits. Several accounts note positive outcomes after acute events (for example, post-hip-fracture recovery) and specific safety measures such as rails and bed mats. At the same time, there is a recurring pattern of variable staff communication and occasional unprofessional interactions; reviewers also cite staffing shortages or slower-than-expected responses at times. There are isolated but notable concerns about medication handling and clinical documentation that would merit direct verification during a tour or meeting with clinical leadership.

Dining and activities: Dining is generally described as restaurant-style with optional meal plans and a variety of menu offerings; many residents enjoy the meals and social dining environment, though food quality perceptions are mixed and inclusion of meals in base pricing can be unclear. The activity program is robust, including arts and crafts, music and choir, games, religious groups, garden clubs, pet visits, and frequent transportation for shopping and outings. These programs and routine transportation are consistent strengths cited as enhancing daily life.

Facilities and amenities: The property offers a comprehensive amenities package—library, beauty/barber shop, chapel, gym, game rooms, and salon—with ongoing renovations and updating in parts of the campus. Apartment options span studios to two-bed units; some units are described as spacious while others are small or dated, reflecting uneven modernization across the older building. Grounds and communal spaces are regularly praised for upkeep, but some reviews indicate intermittent housekeeping or sanitation inconsistencies in particular areas. A few reviewers reported restricted or unavailable access to certain amenities (notably a pool) and raised questions about appliance safety and maintenance in specific units.

Management and notable patterns: Many families describe management as proactive, solution-oriented, and engaged, with long-tenured staff contributing to continuity of care. Conversely, there are recurring administrative critiques: unclear fee structures (security, pet, or other ancillary fees), delays in application processing, and inconsistent follow-up on service issues. Security-related concerns have appeared in a small number of accounts describing theft and gaps in camera recording; these suggest a need to confirm current surveillance and incident-response procedures. Occasional negative experiences emphasizing tone or communication style from individual staff members point to variability in customer-service consistency.

Bottom line: Clarewood House demonstrates clear strengths in care continuity, community programming, and campus amenities, making it a candidate for residents seeking an active, faith-friendly, multi-level senior campus. Prospective residents and families should verify specific operational items during a visit—current staffing ratios and responsiveness, medication-management practices, surveillance and security procedures, exact meal-plan costs and inclusions, and the condition of particular apartment units—so they can match unit selection and contract terms to personal needs and expectations.

    About Clarewood House

Clarewood House sits in a convenient spot and welcomes seniors from all walks of life, working as a Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity provider and following state licensing rules under Texas license #000773 and 149240. Clarewood House is a faith-based, non-profit group, with a long tradition of helping folks in a warm, safe, and close-knit community. The staff is on site around the clock, so residents get help when they need it but are still able to hold on to their independence, and the team is known for being cheerful, helpful, and kind, which does make the days go by a little easier for everyone. You'll find a mix of living options here, whether it's independent senior apartments, low-income units through the Charitable Trust for those who have run out of money, or assisted living for those needing help with bathing, dressing, meals, housekeeping, and medicine management. For those facing memory loss or dementia, there are services and staff with know-how in keeping folks safe and engaged, cutting down on confusion and watching for wandering. Skilled nursing care, companion care, in-home health care, and hospice are all available, too, plus extra help like a nurse on staff part-time, regular medication reminders, and non-ambulatory care for those with trouble walking or in a wheelchair.

Clarewood House has room for up to 90 seniors and features different apartment sizes and styles, many with kitchenettes and in-unit appliances, and offers a full range of amenities-Wi-Fi, cable, laundry, a general store, beauty/barbershop, salon services, and a computer room, which all make daily life easier. Folks here enjoy the outdoors in the gardens or walk their pets, and you'll find both indoor and outdoor activities each week like arts and crafts, movie nights, music programs, bridge, games, book clubs, gardening, classes, and trips to local spots. A chapel sits right on campus for weekly non-denominational services, with an on-site chaplain offering support, and there's always something for the spirit, whether it's choir or wellness classes. The dining is flexible, with several meal plans, shared meal spaces, room service, and guest meals, and the kitchen's won awards for its balanced, good-tasting food. Clarewood House also provides transportation to shops, doctor appointments, and community events, helping residents stay connected. Safety and security matter here, too, with gated entry and staff on watch 24 hours a day.

Housekeeping, linen, and personal care services run smoothly, making things easier for everyone, and there are parking lots for residents, plus help with insurance, Medicare, and check payments. Residents enjoy a close community and make fast friends, with opportunities for socializing every day, and the place tends to stay upbeat and friendly. Awards like Best of Senior Living and Best of Senior Living All Star reflect high marks from residents and families for care and meals, but the focus always stays on helping people live as independently, happily, and healthily as possible for as long as they can.
