    Compassionate, attentive care and rehab

I'm very pleased with the care my parent received. The staff are friendly, attentive and compassionate, communication with the care team is open and consistent, and the rehab/therapy team is excellent. The facility is clean, welcoming, offers engaging activities and good meals with dietary accommodations, and the staff truly go above and beyond - I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for this facility are strongly mixed, with distinct positive patterns alongside recurring operational concerns. On the positive side, families and patients frequently praise the rehabilitation program and therapy teams, describing effective PT/OT/speech services and staff who encourage adherence to home exercise. Many reviewers highlight compassionate, attentive caregivers and nurses, good interdisciplinary communication in favorable cases, clean common areas, private-suite options, engaging activities (including memory-care programming), and dining that accommodates special diets and provides assistance during meals. Several comments also note successful transitions to hospice or higher levels of care when needed and ongoing facility improvements and renovations.

At the same time, reviewers raised repeated concerns about the facility’s operational consistency. A prominent theme is slow or inconsistent responsiveness to call lights and care requests, sometimes accompanied by delays in medication administration and initial clinical assessments. Related patterns include gaps in toileting and bathing assistance, unreliable laundry and personal-belongings handling, and safety/supervision weaknesses that families associate with increased fall or transfer risk. Staffing instability and turnover are cited as underlying contributors to uneven care quality and variable staff conduct and tone.

Management and process issues emerge as another cluster of concerns. Some families report difficulty reaching leadership, inconsistent explanations of visitation and infection-control policies, and admissions or paperwork inefficiencies. There are also serious individual-level allegations—including concerns about missing items or financial-accounting discrepancies—that families should regard as important to investigate further. A small number of accounts describe severe clinical outcomes and concerns following a resident’s death or hospital transfer; these are presented as isolated but salient events that amplify worries about medication management and clinical oversight.

Dining and activities receive largely positive mentions, though food quality and meal delivery consistency are variable across experiences. The facility’s physical environment and housekeeping are often commended, and ongoing renovations are noted positively. Overall, the pattern is one of contrast: when staffing, communication, and leadership are aligned, care, therapy, and family engagement are rated highly; when those operational elements lapse, families report significant and sometimes serious lapses in basic care processes.

Practical takeaway for prospective residents and families: arrange an in-person tour focused on staff responsiveness (ask about typical call-button response times), inquire about staffing ratios and turnover, review laundry and belongings procedures, ask for details about medication-administration protocols and incident escalation, and request documentation of visitation and infection-control policies. Verify therapy schedules and family-communication practices, and ask how financial-accounting and personal-item inventories are handled to reduce risk around belongings and funds.

About Woodway Rehabilitaiton & Healthcare Center

Woodway Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center sits at 7801 Woodway Dr in Waco, Texas, and provides all sorts of care for seniors, including skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, memory care, independent living, and several home care options. The center's set up with 144 certified beds and usually has about 70 residents each day, with both private and semi-private rooms available, some coming with their own bathrooms, flat screen TVs, electric beds, WiFi, and cable. There's a beauty and barber shop, a park-like landscape with sitting areas, a family social room, a gym for rehabilitation, and daily programs like clubs, events, or just mealtimes that help folks stay social and active. Staff keep up with personal chores like housekeeping, and residents can bring their pets and use high-speed internet anywhere in the building.

Woodway Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center's run by Regent Management Services and managed by Momentum Skilled Services, while being owned by Coryell County Memorial Hospital Authority, and it's a for-profit company under LTC Houston Management LLC, WRHC LLC, and Sharlyn Threadgill since September 2024. The staff provides care 24 hours a day, and help people with bathing, dressing, medicine, and nursing needs, so folks with injuries, surgery recovery, long-term illness, or dementia like Alzheimer's can get the care they require, and medical supervision's always available. There are programs specifically for memory care to help seniors who have confusion or are at risk of wandering, as well as respite care for short stays and hospice care for end-of-life support. They also provide home care services (both medical and non-medical) and adult day programs for seniors who want to stay at home part of the time.

The center tries to keep residents comfortable and active, with activities, social dining, and outings in the local community, and structured programs to help each person stay as healthy and engaged as possible. They make sure the building is accessible with features for people with disabilities. Each resident has a care plan, and the healthcare team works together to make sure each person's needs-medical, emotional, or social-are met. Woodway Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center opened in 2003 and has a reputation for strong post-acute therapy after injury or surgery, especially for people who want to recover outside of a hospital but still need a high level of care. They've got specialized help for folks with chronic conditions, and they focus on individual treatment plans.

Despite plenty of services and amenities, inspection reports have shown some deficiencies. There have been problems with making and following care plans, and some issues with nursing and physician services, including not always having nurses and aides who meet skill requirements, which at times led to risks for residents' safety and health. There've also been times when the facility did not give the right treatment or follow the orders or preferences of some of the residents, which was considered immediate jeopardy for health or safety but didn't cause actual harm. The facility's been inspected and remains open, still working to provide compassionate, professional care to folks with changing needs.
