I toured Legacy and felt immediately at ease - Leilani and the staff were warm, attentive, and professional. The facility is immaculate with bright, remodeled common areas, engaging activities, transportation, salon and restaurant-style dining, and friendly residents. I would recommend Legacy to families seeking a welcoming, well-run community.

    Summary of reviews

Legacy Retirement Residence attracts consistent praise for its staff and community atmosphere. Across reviews, staff are described as compassionate, attentive, and personable; families and residents frequently cite helpfulness from dining, housekeeping, maintenance, and administrative teams. The facility promotes a strong sense of community with many long-term residents, friendships, and active social engagement. Transportation to appointments, regular field trips, and frequent entertainers contribute to an engaged, social environment.

Care quality and staffing present a mixed picture. Many reviewers emphasize respectful, competent caregiving and useful on-site supports (including salon services and some medical coordination). However, recurring operational concerns relate to staffing levels and turnover; understaffing during busy periods is said to slow service in dining and other areas. There is also at least one serious account that led families to express concerns following a resident's death and to question emergency-response and resident-location procedures; reviewers have called for clearer protocols and improved responsiveness in urgent situations.

Dining is a prominent feature in resident discussions. While some residents and families praise varied menus and restaurant-style dining with flexible hours, a substantial number describe inconsistent meal quality, seasoning issues, and slow service at peak times. Reviewers also note that management appears to invest in decor and communal furnishings; some view that prioritization as occurring at the expense of consistent dining and infrastructure upgrades.

The activity program and amenities are strengths: the community offers many scheduled classes, games, outings, and indoor amenities such as fitness rooms, libraries, a community theater, craft rooms, courtyards, and chapel space. Remodels of communal areas and updated family spaces receive positive mention, and the grounds and common spaces are generally well maintained and attractive.

Infrastructure and operational services show variability. Several comments describe an aging portion of the building with smaller apartment sizes, ongoing repainting and renovation work, and occasional disruptions tied to upgrades. Reviewers raised pest-control concerns in some units and intermittent kitchen-related odors or air-quality issues. Media and connectivity are other recurring pain points: inconsistent TV reception and limited Wi‑Fi bandwidth were noted, along with a business model that charges extra for higher-speed internet. These service gaps combine with annual rent increases and add-on fees to generate value-for-cost concerns for some prospective residents and families.

Overall, Legacy presents as a community with many social and care-oriented strengths — notably an engaged activity program, attentive staff, and attractive communal spaces — alongside operational weaknesses that prospective residents should evaluate. Key decision points include appetite for potential renovation disruptions, tolerance for variable dining and media services, clarity on emergency protocols, and the total cost once add-on fees and annual increases are factored in. A focused tour that probes emergency response procedures, staffing patterns at meal times, pest-control measures, and current internet/TV infrastructure is recommended for families weighing this community.

    About Legacy Retirement Residence

Legacy Retirement Residence has been around since 1996, serving older adults in South Jordan, Utah, just a short walk from the LDS Jordan River Temple and close to shopping and the Marv Jenson Fitness & Recreation Center, and it's meant for people who want independent living, assisted living, nursing home, or memory care services. There are 162 independent living units here, with floor plans for studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and many have kitchenettes or full kitchens, private baths, and individually controlled heating and cooling, and everything is recently remodeled so everything looks fresh and clean. Some apartments are fully handicap accessible, and there are built-in safety features like grab bars, sprinkler systems, and a 24-hour emergency call system, plus a state-of-the-art response and security service, which is important for peace of mind. Residents have access to social activities, daily programs like arts and crafts, book discussion clubs, a cooking club, storytime, and game nights, as well as fitness options including yoga, chair yoga, Tai Chi, and a gym, so no one ever has to feel bored or cooped up. The community has nice outdoor walking paths, patios, flower gardens, and water features, which are great if you want to get some fresh air or spend peaceful moments outside, and for gathering with friends, there are beautifully decorated living areas, a library, billiards room, recreation and game rooms, and a computer area with WiFi and cable, all making it easy to visit with neighbors or host family.

Dining is offered in a restaurant-style room, with three chef-prepared meals a day and snacks, plus special options for vegetarians or those with dietary needs, and there's even a country store for picking up essentials without having to leave. The place is set up for comfort and convenience, with on-site laundry, weekly housekeeping and linen service, maintenance and landscaping, and snow removal. There's a beauty and barber shop, spa, salon, common rooms with TVs, and resident musical groups. Housekeeping, linen service, and maintenance are included, so you don't have to fuss over chores. Staff provide assistance with dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting if you need it, and onsite nurses offer medication support, wound care, podiatry, and occupational therapy, and there are personal care assistants and help for those who use wheelchairs.

Scheduled transportation makes it easy to go to doctor visits, banks, or grocery stores, and guest parking and resident parking are both available, which helps when visitors come by. Pets are welcome in some units. Security is in place 24/7, and the apartments and community spaces have emergency features. For those looking for spirituality, in-house religious services take place, and the activity calendar is full with health and wellness, education, arts, and community events. Legacy Retirement Residence takes long-term care insurance and they offer all-inclusive pricing, which helps with planning.

Managed by Western States Lodging, the community's known for friendly staff, comfortable common spaces, and a variety of activities that help residents stay active and connected while making sure people have their independence and feel at home.
