    Kind staff excellent care welcoming

I felt well cared for here - staff and nurses were consistently kind and attentive, administration and social services were very helpful, and the on-site doctors and rehab team delivered excellent, measurable results. The building is clean and welcoming, meals are good, activities keep residents engaged, and overall I'd recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with a clear strength in rehabilitation services alongside recurring operational concerns. Many families and residents praised the rehab unit: therapists and an experienced rehab director are frequently highlighted for producing good outcomes, providing focused one-on-one therapy, and organizing robust activity and outing schedules. Several comments also note on-site physicians, generally positive dining experiences, and a clean, well-maintained interior environment that contributes to resident engagement and satisfaction.

Clinical care and responsiveness emerge as mixed. Positive accounts emphasize attentive nursing and helpful doctors, but an equal number of accounts describe delayed responses to call buttons, missed repositioning, and perceived lapses in incontinence care. There are also multiple references to delays or inconsistencies in medication and treatment administration. Together these describe operational gaps in routine nursing responsiveness and in early recognition/escalation of clinical changes.

Staff conduct and communication show variability. Reviewers identify individual staff members who are compassionate and go above and beyond, while others report unprofessional interactions at times from front-desk personnel, nurses, or therapy staff. Communication with families and between units is frequently called out as inconsistent โ€” long phone hold times, voicemail nonresponse, and front-desk delays were noted. There are also isolated allegations of financial misconduct and concerns following a residentโ€™s death, which reviewers treat as serious and deserving of follow-up through formal channels.

Dining and activities are commonly cited as strengths for residents who participate in programming. Meals receive positive mentions for quality, and the activity program is described as engaging for many residents. However, continuity of service can be unreliable in some instances, with reports of missed meals or unattended meal times.

Facility upkeep is generally seen as good in interior common areas and the rehab unit, but reviewers also describe specific sanitation and odor concerns in certain bathrooms and common spaces and inconsistent housekeeping performance. Property-management issues such as lost clothing and inconsistent laundry controls were raised as operational issues to address.

In summary, Lexington Court appears to offer a strong rehabilitation program, attentive therapy staff, and many features that residents and families appreciate, including on-site physicians and good meal quality. At the same time, recurring themes point to inconsistent nursing responsiveness, variability in staff professionalism, gaps in clinical monitoring and escalation, and uneven housekeeping and communication practices. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation strengths against these operational concerns and consider direct, recent observation of nursing responsiveness, communication practices, and unit-level cleanliness before placement. If moving forward, active family oversight and clear expectations with management about monitoring, communication, and care protocols are advisable.

    About Lexington Court

Lexington Court sits at 1776 Cambridge Dr in Richmond, VA and is a large, non-profit facility with 190 beds that's been through some renovations, so the living spaces look more modern now, and they've got private and semi-private rooms, some with private bathrooms, plus comfortable common areas with a nice front entrance, an outdoor patio, and a landscaped garden that gives a peaceful feeling, and they've got community spaces like a library, living rooms, and also a residents' lounge, with elevators and walking paths making it easy for folks to get around. Lexington Court is a nursing home and rehab center that supports people with long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy, memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, and even assisted living for those who need housing with help for daily activities, and for folks who prefer to keep more independence, they have independent living options, while their home care service uses trained aides to lend a hand and offer company at home. They look after people with complex needs, like tracheostomy care, wound care, chronic kidney disease management, pulmonary care, and IV therapy, and they're recognized for specialized short-term rehab programs, including subacute rehab with Heart Failure Certification, pain management, outpatient therapy, and urgent SNFโ„ข services, all with 24-hour nurse coverage so help is always nearby, and the care team helps with medication, daily routines, and personal care, including transportation and a strong focus on personalized care plans to support folks' wishes and needs. The staff there are known for being helpful, joyful, and kind, making the atmosphere pretty friendly, and they run respite care for those who just need a short stay, plus therapy-occupational, physical, and speech therapy-both inpatient and outpatient, so people can work on getting stronger and more independent, and the Family Matters Program and LifeLoop help keep families in touch and engaged with what's going on. There's a focus on helping people get better and, when possible, return home, but they also make sure long-term residents feel supported, offering daily activities like gardening, visits from performers, recreational and social outings, and plenty of social programs to keep everyone involved. Meals are nutritious and cooked for both taste and health, with a dining room offering restaurant-style options, and the kitchen staff has made improvements following new leadership, so food quality is something they keep working on, while amenities like a beauty/barber shop, internet/Wi-Fi, cable TV, and an emergency call system try to handle daily needs and comfort. The place feels welcoming and community-minded, run with an emphasis on restoring independence and supporting well-being, and even though it holds a 3.3 rating from 44 reviews, it continues to offer a variety of medical, residential, and social support services, and the administrator, Laura Lemza, leads an experienced team in creating an environment that values dignity and care for all residents.
