    Pleased with Sunrise of Vienna

I placed my mom at Sunrise of Vienna and have been very pleased. The staff - from the Memory Care director and nursing team to activities and dining - are warm, professional, and engaged; the facility is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully laid out with great food, a gym, and lots of social opportunities. Family communication (Smile app) and attentive, respectful care give me real peace of mind - I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Sunrise of Vienna presents as a newly opened, well-designed senior living community with a strong emphasis on hospitality-style surroundings and an array of on-site amenities. Reviewers consistently describe a modern, thoughtfully laid-out building with upscale public spaces, outdoor patios, multiple dining areas, a gym, theater and meeting rooms. Apartments range from studios to two-bedrooms and reviewers highlight cleanliness and hotel-like décor. The physical plant and amenity set are frequent strengths for prospective residents seeking an active, comfortable environment.

Care quality is characterized by reviewers as fundamentally compassionate and resident-centered. Families repeatedly praise the professionalism and warmth of caregiving staff, memory-care leadership, and specialized reminiscence programming. Several accounts note hands-on advocacy from directors and individualized attention from caregivers. Clinical supports such as medication management and coordination with PT/OT are described positively, and some families cite proactive health monitoring. At the same time, there are operational patterns that warrant attention: continuity of staff can vary (with specific mention of overnight-shift variability and general turnover), and families sometimes experience uneven success getting residents with higher-dependency or resistant behaviors consistently engaged outside their rooms.

Dining and activities are prominent positives. The culinary program, including an involved chef who meets with diners, earns strong praise for food quality and social dining experiences. Activities programming is described as diverse and meaningful, with a dedicated activities director and reminiscence coordinator creating themed events, social clubs, and exercise or walking groups. Reviewers note active social life, happy-hour socials, and opportunities for intellectual stimulation; a minority would like more frequent live-performance offerings.

Management and administrative areas show mixed signals. Admissions and move-in assistance are frequently described as efficient and low-pressure. Conversely, families point to billing and other administrative processing gaps and occasional leadership transition-related learning curves. Communication channels are generally good when functioning — including use of a photo/event app to share updates — but the app has reliability issues and families sometimes identify an unclear single point of contact for timely updates. There are also concerns about acute-incident processes: a facility policy limiting staff accompaniment to external emergency care has caused family unease, and some reviews describe opportunities to strengthen family notification and follow-up after incidents.

Overall, Sunrise of Vienna appears to provide high-quality, resident-focused care in an attractive new facility with a strong culinary and activities program. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s premium positioning and confirm expectations around staffing continuity, overnight coverage, administrative/billing procedures, and emergency-response communication to ensure alignment with their priorities.
