    Safe, caring, home-like dementia care

I'm very pleased with Tysons Woods. My mom is safe, happy, and well cared for by attentive, professional, and genuinely caring staff; the owner is hands-on. It's a small, spotless, home-like place with private rooms/baths, excellent dementia care, round-the-clock medical oversight, and real homemade meals. I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Tysons Woods presents as a small, well‑appointed assisted living residence that emphasizes a homelike atmosphere, private accommodations, and personalized caregiving. Multiple accounts describe a clean, tastefully decorated home with ample common space, private rooms with en suite bathrooms, and a small resident census that enables close observation and frequent staff attention. The facility’s dining program is frequently highlighted for scratch‑made meals, an appealing dining area, and home‑cooked touches that contribute to residents’ satisfaction.

Care quality and staffing emerge as core strengths: reviewers commonly describe attentive, compassionate, and professional staff who provide individualized care, frequent family communication (calls, texts, FaceTime during COVID), and team‑based caregiving. Several families praised owner/administrator involvement, citing active oversight, thoughtful gestures, and hands‑on management that contributed to a sense of safety and continuity. Tysons Woods also receives recognition for dementia care practices, 24/7 physician availability with house calls, and supportive end‑of‑life care that families found reassuring.

At the same time, reviewers identified operational and clinical concerns that prospective families should probe. There are indications of variability in after‑hours staffing and responsiveness, and some accounts describe inconsistent meal quality across different stays. A pattern of pressure to use the facility’s preferred external providers and questions about pain‑management guidance were raised; a few individuals framed these as serious allegations about clinical decision‑making. Communication tone and cultural or language sensitivity were also mentioned as areas needing attention by some families. Additionally, visitation rules during infection‑control periods appeared unclear or restrictive in certain circumstances, and several families noted administrative gaps such as appointment coordination or admissions handoff problems.

Cost and management style are further areas to assess: Tysons Woods operates with relatively high monthly rates and an entrance fee, and reviewers’ experiences with management behavior vary—from highly gracious and involved to controlling or unpleasant for other families. These mixed impressions suggest that the resident‑family fit and expectations around management approach are important to determine during a tour.

Practical recommendations for prospective residents: tour the home at different times of day to observe staff levels and mealtime consistency, request written policies on after‑hours coverage and visitation during infection‑control events, ask about preferred‑provider arrangements and medication/pain‑management protocols, and review the entrance fee and fee‑structure details. Meeting the primary caregivers and the administrator in person and clarifying handoff procedures at move‑in can help set expectations and reduce the chance of coordination lapses. Overall, Tysons Woods offers many hallmarks of a high‑touch, small‑home assisted living setting, balanced by operational and clinical considerations that warrant specific questions during the decision process.

About Tysons Woods LLC - Assisted Living

Tysons Woods LLC - Assisted Living sits over in Vienna, VA, and keeps things simple and comfortable with just 8 licensed beds so folks can expect a bit more peace and personal attention in their day-to-day. The place provides care for people who need assisted living, memory care, independent living, and board and care, and they've got room for folks with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, giving support with all the basics like bathing, dressing, and getting around, and they've got medication management and diabetic care too, which is important for many families looking for a safe and steady routine. The facility helps high-needs residents as well, including those who need incontinence, non-ambulatory, or hospice care, with a team in place for high acuity care and specialized memory programs for those who need extra support for their cognitive health.

The home's cozy, fully-furnished rooms include wheelchair access, showers, and bathtubs, and the community areas, indoors and out, are all about getting people safely together for conversation, meals, or activities, plus there's an enclosed courtyard where residents can get fresh air without worry. There's meal service with choices like vegetarian and kosher, and staff offer help with food and special dining programs. Tysons Woods welcomes pets, both dogs and cats, which can bring folks comfort like they might have had at home. Residents can use transportation for errands or outings, either complimentary or for a fee, and there's parking for those who need it. On top of that, weekly activities happen both onsite and offsite, with a full-time activity director planning regular events, trips, field trips, educational programs, and recreation so days don't get too long or lonely. Staff hold onsite devotional services for those wanting spiritual support, and there are beautician services available in the on-site salon.

Management takes a hands-on approach, with the owner involved and staff working to get to know everyone and keep things running smoothly and safely, keeping up with health inspections and minimum staffing ratios. The place is designed to feel less like an institution and more like a real home, emphasizing warmth, clean and modern spaces, good meals, routines for dignity and comfort, and personalized care plans. Tysons Woods offers support for aging in place, respite care for short-term stays, and hospice care when needed. Residents enjoy time with each other and the staff, which helps foster new friendships and brings a gentle sense of community to daily life, all in an easy-to-navigate setting tailored for folks who need a little help but still want to feel at ease and respected in their own space.
