    Friendly staff, hidden pressure ulcer

I appreciated the fast admission, no-minimum-stay option, clean facility and convenient location; staff were friendly, accommodating, gave one-on-one attention and treated my dad well - overall I was very happy. That said, the food was plain and we saw severe weight loss; alarmingly a stage-4 pressure ulcer was hidden from us and our doctors and led to hospitalization and constant pain. I would recommend the community but urge families to be vigilant about nutrition and wound care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but polarized: multiple reviewers praise the facility for quick admissions, a pleasant community, clean premises, and staff who are friendly, accommodating, and provide one-on-one attention. Several families explicitly state they are very happy with the care and would recommend the home. These positive comments consistently highlight around-the-clock care, individualized attention, and practical conveniences such as a convenient location and no minimum-stay contract.

Contrasting sharply with the positive accounts is at least one extremely serious and detailed negative report. That review alleges severe neglect in the form of inadequate nutrition (described as starvation and resulting in severe weight loss), the development of a stage 4 pressure ulcer, alleged concealment of that ulcer from family members and physicians, and subsequent hospitalization with extreme pain. The negative review also characterizes some staff behavior as deceptive or misleading (for example, 'misleading smiles'). These allegations, if accurate, indicate major lapses in clinical care, documentation/transparency, and family communication.

On staff and management themes, reviews split into two clear threads. Many reviews describe staff as kind, friendly, accommodating, and focused on individualized care, which correlates with families reporting satisfaction and recommendations. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about communication and honesty — specifically an accusation that a significant medical condition was hidden from family and doctors. That allegation introduces a risk signal about transparency, reporting, and possibly record-keeping or escalation practices; it directly contradicts the otherwise positive narratives about staff responsiveness.

Facility and logistics are consistently described positively: the home is noted as clean, in a convenient location, and part of a pleasant community. Administrative convenience is also emphasized through mentions of a fast admission process and no minimum-stay contract, which prospective residents and families often find attractive when making quick placement decisions.

Dining and nutrition appear to be weaker points in the reviews. Multiple comments note that the food is plain, and there is at least one specific request for butter or gravy on mashed potatoes that went unmet. While plain food is a common complaint that can reflect personal taste, it is important in this context because one negative review escalates the issue from 'plain' to 'inadequate nutrition' or 'starvation.' That escalation links dining concerns to severe health outcomes in the reviewers' account, making nutrition a potential area of significant risk rather than only a comfort/quality issue.

Taken together, the pattern is: a number of families report very positive experiences around staffing, cleanliness, and individualized care, while at least one review reports serious clinical harm and alleged concealment that cannot be ignored. The coexistence of these divergent reports suggests variability in resident outcomes or possibly inconsistency in care practices. For prospective families, the reviews point to two clear conclusions: (1) this facility can and does provide attentive, one-on-one, round-the-clock care that satisfies many families; and (2) there is at least one credible, severe allegation of neglect and lack of transparency that should prompt careful due diligence. Given the severity of the negative claims (stage 4 pressure ulcer, hospitalization, alleged concealment), prospective families should follow up directly with the facility on clinical protocols (skin integrity and pressure ulcer prevention/treatment, weight monitoring, nutrition plans), request documentation of care and incident reporting practices, review state inspection and complaint histories, and consider unannounced visits and direct questions about how the home communicates adverse events to families and medical providers.

    About Assurecare Adult Family Home

Assurecare Adult Family Home sits in a quiet spot in Bremerton, Washington, and offers up to six seniors a private and cozy place to live, with both one- or two-bedroom and studio options, all with safe designs and roomy closets, so folks have their space and feel right at home, and there's round-the-clock care for peace of mind, with friendly staff who are always around to help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, and toileting or even feeding by spoon when needed, and the licensed nurses who monitor things like blood sugar and give injections for people who need that sort of help. The residents here get personal care plans, and the staff provides support for people with memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and even serious illnesses needing hospice care, and there's short-term respite too if a family caregiver needs a break, and management can offer ongoing health checks, medication help, and rehabilitation services, plus special help with diabetes and mobility or fall prevention.

Meals are served family-style in the shared dining room or delivered right to the room if someone prefers, and there's always a choice for special dietary needs, while laundry and housekeeping get done at no extra charge, which keeps things tidy and simple, and small pets can come along too, so folks don't have to leave them behind. The grounds stay safe with secure gardens and paths for walking, and there's a courtyard full of greenery for fresh air, so residents get outside when the weather's nice. Inside, common areas like the lounge and games room let people relax, and planned activities-movie nights in the theatre, arts and crafts, fitness classes, social clubs, big birthday parties, and outings-give everyone something to look forward to, and there's a life enrichment program to help folks stay engaged. Families and visitors can drop by any day between 9 in the morning and 8 at night, which makes it easy to stop in.

Assurecare Adult Family Home keeps a beautician on-site for hair and grooming, arranges transportation for appointments when needed (which costs extra), and gives companion care for those who need a helper during doctor visits. For emergencies, staff can respond any hour, and every resident gets a pendant to call for help. There's monthly visits from the doctor or nurse, so health is always checked, and each resident has unscheduled care services if something comes up. The facility has a homey feeling, not like a big institution, and serves all of Kitsap County in the 98311 zip area, supporting seniors so they can keep their independence while still getting the help they need, and the home has active programs to help with memory, mental health, or development needs, so everyone can find some comfort, safety, and a bit of joy in each day.
