    Well-kept, kind staff; shared bathrooms

I toured this nicely located, well-kept facility and was impressed by how kindly residents and staff are treated, the long-tenured team, and the excellent current director; it's currently full. My mom liked it but hesitated because the rooms share a bathroom with three others. Management handled a past complaint professionally - they investigated and dismissed the problematic employee - which reassures me.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews convey a mixed picture of Oak Ridge Living. Several comments praise the facility’s leadership at the director level, the quality of everyday interactions between residents and staff, and a long-serving group of employees. At the same time, multiple operational concerns appear repeatedly, creating a split between positive resident experiences and questions about institutional practices.

Care quality: Families describe generally respectful, attentive day-to-day care and positive resident–staff interactions, which suggests a baseline of compassionate caregiving among many frontline workers. However, there are specific, recurrent concerns about responsiveness and medication management, including reports of medication timing delays. These operational gaps can affect clinical reliability and family confidence, even when interpersonal care is good.

Staff: Staff-related descriptions are mixed. Several reviewers emphasize long staff tenure and supportive relationships with residents, indicating continuity of care in some areas. Conversely, other comments point to high workloads, staffing instability, and low morale. There are also serious employment-related claims, including allegations of unpaid hours and withheld wages, which, if accurate, would likely contribute to turnover and stress among staff and could indirectly affect resident services.

Dining and activities: Review excerpts do not provide substantive detail about dining quality or the breadth of activity programming. The positive notes about resident treatment and long-tenured staff imply the potential for stable activity engagement, but there is insufficient information to reach a clear conclusion about meal-service consistency or program offerings.

Facilities: A notable recurring concern is the bathroom configuration: shared bathrooms serving multiple residents was specifically cited and led at least one family to hesitate about placement. That arrangement represents a tangible facility-level limitation for families prioritizing private bathroom access. The facility’s central location was mentioned positively, and occupancy appears strong, indicating community demand.

Management and administration: Comments about management are conflicting. The director receives praise in some accounts, suggesting effective leadership at that level. In contrast, other remarks describe problematic interactions with management staff, including communication that families and employees found confrontational and instances where money or pay processes were contested. There are allegations of payroll withholding and unpaid wages; these employment claims are serious and, if substantiated, would likely have operational impacts on staffing and morale.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: The pattern is one of contrast — solid interpersonal care from many staff members and leadership praised in places, alongside operational weaknesses that affect reliability and employee satisfaction. Prospective residents and families should consider touring to inspect bathroom arrangements and ask specific questions about private versus shared bathing facilities, medication-administration protocols, staffing ratios, and the facility’s payroll and human-resources practices. For employment-seeking individuals, it would be prudent to seek clear, written information on scheduling, wage payment procedures, and dispute resolution before accepting a position.

In summary, Oak Ridge Living appears to offer caring day-to-day interactions and has strengths in leadership and location, but families and job applicants should weigh those positives against documented operational concerns around shared bathrooms, medication timeliness, staffing pressures, and payroll administration.
