Prospect Heights Community Living Center sits at 2015 Prospect Street in Racine, Wisconsin, tucked into a quiet area with lots of trees and green space all around, and it's got room for up to 52 adult residents, mostly folks who need long-term non-acute care or have severe mental or physical disabilities, folks who don't get around too well on their own anymore so the building's made for non-ambulatory care. Meals are prepared and served by a professional chef with special diets for allergies and diabetes, and laundry and housekeeping are part of the deal, so nobody's got to worry about those chores anymore, and since they think about peace of mind here, daily activities fill the schedule, things like movie nights, bingo, daily exercise, listening sessions, game nights, walks in the garden, Bible study, music and arts, bowling, and trips out to places like the Racine Theatre Guild, the zoo, or the beach, sometimes even catching a festival or fair, and there's table tennis or sitting in the bright common room to pass the time. The community focuses on independence as much as possible, giving residents choices with a person-centered approach, and there's support for moving in and services for families, too, plus easy access to places like All Saints Hospital, Lincoln Park, and the bus line. Residents can expect zero Medicare coverage unless the facility gets certified, but the care is built around stability, cost-effectiveness, and the right of every person to participate in daily life as fully as they're able, in an environment that's homelike and friendly rather than clinical.
