PBH Residential Care Home /Keith Heights

902 NW 8th St, Grand Prairie, TX 75050

      Homey care, clean, engaged staff

I placed my parent in this six-room, airy home and immediately felt at ease - private, homey bedrooms, beautiful backyard and covered patio, and three healthy family-style meals plus snacks. Teri, David and the cheerful, involved staff provide loving, dignified, high-quality care, engaging activities, monthly entertainers and reliable transportation. Clean, safe and well-managed, it's a warm aging-in-place option I recommend.

      Summary of reviews

Reviews convey a largely positive picture of PBH Residential Care Home / Keith Heights as a small, family-style care home with an emphasis on a home-like environment. Many reviewers praise the intimate six-room model, private bedrooms that residents can personalize, and the well-maintained indoor and outdoor spaces (covered patio, landscaped yard and active birdlife). Dining is consistently described as family-oriented: three meals a day with communal seating and additional snacks, which contributes to a social atmosphere.

Staffing and direct care are frequent strengths in the reviews. Staff are characterized as warm, cheerful and attentive; specific staff names and owners are called out as being engaged and welcoming. Reviewers describe dignified, respectful treatment and thorough day-to-day assistance, and the home provides transportation for appointments and a range of social activities including scheduled entertainers and family-style engagement.

At the same time, the reviews include operational concerns that are relevant for prospective residents and families to investigate. The facility appears to have limited clinical capacity for managing advanced dementia-related behavioral needs; reviewers describe changes in medication approaches used to address behaviors, which raises broader medication-management questions. There are also notes about communication and responsiveness from ownership, including instances where families felt calls were not returned and where disputes over supplements or medication policies escalated.

Related management patterns include firm policy enforcement around supplements and medications and a tendency toward resident transitions when needs exceed the home’s stated scope of care. These practices have, in at least one case described in reviews, led to rapid placement changes and family conflict. Finally, reviewers characterize the facility as priced at a premium; prospective residents should weigh the cost against the level of clinical support required for their situation.

For families considering PBH Residential Care Home / Keith Heights, the strengths are clear: a small, home-like setting with personable staff, family-style meals, active grounds and a close-knit atmosphere. Important due diligence items are to confirm the home’s clinical capabilities for dementia care, clarify medication and supplement policies and escalation procedures, and discuss communication expectations with ownership before placement.

About PBH Residential Care Home /Keith Heights

PBH Residential Care Home /Keith Heights sits in a quiet, leafy neighborhood close to downtown Grand Prairie, Texas, and you can get to Dallas or Fort Worth pretty quick on Interstate 30, and the place itself is in a fully renovated Mid-Century Modern home with big windows, a double-sided fireplace in the common area, and a cheerful feel thanks to all the light, plus you've got beautiful fenced, gated gardens around the house, patios out back, walking trails, and even a raised vegetable garden if you like to watch things grow, and the space is small-just six residents living in private rooms with shared bathrooms so there's always privacy but you don't feel alone, and the bathrooms are never shared by more than two people. The Keith Heights community has wheelchair-accessible showers, portable medical alert systems for safety, and electronic monitoring in all common areas and the grounds. There's a nurse on site 24 hours a day, a doctor on call, and care from a registered nurse director, certified assisted living manager, and even a physician assistant who can make house calls, which is rare nowadays, and for health services, they help with medications, manage weight and blood pressure checks, and offer personal service plans that fit each resident. Staff helps with bathing, grooming, dressing, and getting around, and they also arrange weekly laundry and housekeeping, so you don't have to worry about chores. Folks get three home-cooked meals every day, scheduled movies, exercise sessions, art and crafts, and if you want a haircut or other beauty service, there's an in-house salon for an extra fee. Everyone's got a flat screen TV with basic cable in their room, and the place lets you bring your own things so it feels like home. The home is smoke-free and has a security system, and they offer free transportation for appointments or errands. For those who need help with memory, Alzheimer's care is available, plus assisted living services for general support. At Keith Heights, you find a quiet, well-managed home with private bedrooms, outdoor space and common areas set up for easy living, and it stays family-like because of the small number of residents. The monthly cost averages about $667, which covers almost everything except extra salon visits, and with the landscaped grounds, kitchen serving fresh meals, and a staff that knows each resident, the home offers a simple, calm, and secure place for seniors who want comfort and care in a friendly setting.
