Abundant Hills AFH sits along 124th Avenue Southeast in Renton, Washington, and takes care of up to six people in a homey setting where the staff's known for being helpful, joyful, and friendly, and several of them have been there for more than 16 years which means they really do know how to look after folks, and people have described the place as having a nice sense of family for those living there. This is an adult family home that's licensed, registered with DSHS, and open from nine in the morning until eight at night for visits, with staff around all day and night to help residents. They offer a wide range of care, from help with basic things like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, to more complex care for those who need lifts, have diabetes, use wheelchairs, or need incontinence help, so people who need a light touch or those who need more hands-on help can both find what suits them. Abundant Hills AFH has a secured property and special memory care with its own building, using things like bracelets that set off alarms if someone tries to wander, and they're open to folks who have difficult behaviors, need behavioral help, or might wander or get lost, with a team that deals with memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia and also supports residents with mental health or developmental disabilities. Meals are made with good ingredients and cover lots of diets-kosher, vegetarian, pureed food, and everything's overseen by a dietitian, with options for private baths, wheelchair showers, and rooms to fit different needs, from studios up to one-bedrooms at different prices, so there's some flexibility depending on what someone wants or can afford. Activities happen both inside and out of the building, sometimes devotional, sometimes recreational, and there are trips away from the home with rides provided, which is nice because sometimes it's good to just get out somewhere, and there's also parking if family or residents drive. For those who need a little attention to appearance or just want to feel good, there's a beautician on hand, and when it comes to health, the staff manage medicine, help with high-acuity care, do diabetic support including giving insulin, and provide stand-by or hands-on help with getting up or moving around as needed. The home's earned some awards-Best of Senior Living and Best Activities in Senior Living-plus strong reviews with a rating around 4.6 stars out of 5, so people generally have appreciated their time there. They've also got free consultations and local experts who help families figure out if this is the right place, and there's information on hand about senior living and things like Medicare. The building's wheelchair accessible, provides Wi-Fi, TV, fireplaces, air conditioning, and has outdoor and indoor common areas, and residents can stay here even if their care needs change because they offer light, medium, and heavy care so someone doesn't need to move out just because they need more help down the road. In short, the home covers a lot for people needing residential care, memory care, or even independent living, and it's been designed to feel comfortable, safe, and welcoming, which is important for older folks and the families who care about them.
Outstanding caring adult family home
I'm considering placing my mom here and so far I'm very impressed - I honestly think this is the best AFH in the area. My mom is receiving outstanding, caring attention; the staff make us feel like family, the administrator is helpful and knowledgeable, and the caregivers are genuinely caring. The home is very clean, smells great, and they serve special meals. Rooms are on the small side (a few larger rooms available). I highly recommend them.
