    Homey, caring, spotless, peaceful, affordable

I'm very pleased with this homey, mom-and-pop facility. The owner, director and caregivers are caring, respectful and hands-on - they took excellent care of my husband and always kept me informed. The house is spotless and peaceful, meals are simple but adequate, residents get outside for walks, and it's good value for our needs.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is highly positive, with frequent emphasis on the personal, hands-on nature of care at Titlow Adult Family Home. Reviewers consistently describe a small, mom-and-pop operation in which the director and his wife are actively involved in daily care and management. This close involvement is repeatedly framed as a strength: staff are described as friendly, caring, compassionate, and attentive; the owner is noted to go out of his way to help; and caregivers receive specific praise for doing a wonderful job. Communication with families is highlighted as excellent, with reviewers saying they are kept well informed about their loved ones.

The physical environment and daily rhythm of the home receive strong compliments. Multiple reviews describe the house as immaculately spotless, beautiful, and peaceful. Residents are reported to seem happy and comfortable, and the household is said to “run like clockwork.” Outdoor time (walks and deck visits) and a relaxed, home-like atmosphere are repeated positives. Several reviewers explicitly state that the home provided good value and met their needs, and some express deep gratitude for the care their family members received.

There are a few recurring concerns and limitations to note. The operation is small and leans on limited staff — one review mentions a single teenage helper in addition to the owners — which raises questions about capacity and continuity during staff absences. The reviews also mention unclear nursing or clinical qualifications; while caregivers and owners are praised for their attentiveness, there is ambiguity about licensed nursing oversight or formal medical staff. This suggests the home is best suited to residents who need personal, supportive care rather than complex medical management.

Activity programming and dining are areas with mixed feedback. Several reviewers point out a lack of formal activities or structured programming; social engagement appears to be informal (meals, walks, deck time) rather than organized calendared events. Meals are described as adequate and simple — acceptable for some residents but not to everyone’s taste, with at least one reviewer noting their family member did not care for the food. Taken together, these details indicate the home focuses on basic daily needs, comfort, and safety rather than an extensive activity calendar or gourmet dining.

In summary, Titlow Adult Family Home appears to be an excellently maintained, small, family-run facility that delivers warm, compassionate, and hands-on care in a homey setting. It is particularly well suited to families seeking a clean, peaceful environment with attentive owners who communicate well and provide personalized attention at good value. However, prospective families should be aware of the limited staffing model, unclear clinical licensing details, and minimal formal activities and meal variety; those factors mean the home may be less appropriate for residents requiring significant medical/nursing care or a robust program of activities. For independent or moderately assisted residents whose priority is individualized, compassionate care in a small, well-kept home, the reviews indicate Titlow is a very strong fit.

    About Titlow Adult Family Home

Titlow Adult Family Home sits in a quiet neighborhood near Titlow Park in Tacoma, WA, with the beach not too far off and close to shops, restaurants, and churches like Rainier Springs and St Andrews Episcopal, and you'll find that the house itself is large, beautifully kept, and has a home-like setting designed for no more than six residents at a time, which helps everyone feel comfortable and safe, and visitors can come between 9:00am and 8:00pm-especially welcome are friends and family who can join meals or daily activities. The home's privately owned and run, managed by a director and a dedicated caregiver who see that life runs smoothly day to day, sometimes with family members involved in hands-on care and oversight, so residents get the kind of attention you don't always find in bigger places, and there's a strong focus on keeping the house spotless, the meals balanced and wholesome (with Kosher and vegetarian options if needed), and the routine predictable and calm without feeling restrictive. The staff help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication management, and there's 24-hour care for those who need it, including special help for people with memory loss, developmental disabilities, or mental health needs, and that's important since memory care and dementia care require a special touch-plus, there's a program of planned activities each week for staying active and social, and the home arranges rides to dentist and doctor appointments. The bedrooms come in different sizes, including private, semi-private, and even one-, two-, or three-bedroom options so residents can pick what suits them best, but regardless of room size, everyone can join in group meals in indoor common areas or stay in their own space if they prefer. State and local authorities, including DSHS, license and check the place regularly, so there's oversight for safety and standards, and when families ask about costs or what rooms are open, staff can provide the details, though they don't list prices openly. Titlow Adult Family Home doesn't take Medicare unless it's certified by federal rules, so people need to check on payment options, but those who want a peaceful, well-kept environment with a small, stable group may find it fits their needs, especially for seniors looking for memory care, long-term care, or the feeling of being truly at home with good support and attentive staff.
