    Welcoming, caring community with activities

I moved my parent here and I'm very pleased - the place is beautiful and well-kept with acres of trees and flowers and a welcoming, family-like vibe. Staff (Pete included) are caring and responsive, the community offers lots of activities, entertainment and van transportation, safety and communication are strong, meals have good variety, and the location near Tops and a pharmacy is very convenient.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a generally positive impression of The Greens in terms of staff engagement, community life, and the physical campus, while raising repeated concerns about cost, dining, and the facility’s fit for people who require assistance with meals and medications. The dominant positive theme is staff responsiveness: reviewers repeatedly note rapid on-site checks, proactive communication, and active safety monitoring. These comments suggest that when issues arise the team moves quickly and keeps families informed, which supports both resident safety and family peace of mind.

Facility and campus attributes are also strong points. Multiple reviewers compliment the property — describing beautiful acreage, trees, and flowers — and call the facility itself "nice." The location is praised for convenience, with quick access to a Tops grocery and a pharmacy, and transportation options are present through scheduled van services. Social programming is highlighted as a community strength: exercise classes, bingo, entertainment events, and opportunities for social connections appear to help new residents acclimate and maintain an active social life.

However, there are consistent drawbacks. Food quality is cited as inconsistent and not universally liked, which can be an important daily experience for residents and families. Cost is another recurring concern: reviewers perceive pricing as high and specifically note that the community may be expensive relative to the services provided for independent seniors. Related to this, several reviewers emphasize that The Greens operates primarily as an independent living environment and is not well suited for those who need assistance with meals, medication administration, or similar care tasks. This ties directly to a specific worry about medication management — families are concerned about who will manage medications and whether the facility’s model adequately addresses those needs.

An important pattern in the reviews is the distinction between the community’s strengths for relatively independent seniors versus its limitations for people with increased care needs. For families whose loved ones are largely independent, The Greens offers a pleasant campus, active social life, transportation, and responsive staff — factors that help residents settle in and stay connected. For individuals who require regular help taking medications, having meals prepared, or more hands-on daily assistance, reviewers warn that the community may not provide the necessary services, and additional care arrangements might be required.

Overall sentiment is cautiously positive: staff and safety practices receive high marks, the grounds and common spaces are attractive, and programming supports resident engagement. The most significant issues for prospective residents and families to weigh are dining preferences, the cost relative to the level of care provided, and the community’s suitability for those needing medication management or assistance with activities of daily living. Prospective residents should confirm service boundaries, costs, and medication/meal support options before committing, and families with higher care needs should consider assisted living alternatives or supplemental support arrangements.

    About The Greens

The Greens, also known as St. Ann's Community at The Greens, sits on 11 acres of landscaped grounds at 1 West Ave in Le Roy, NY, and offers senior living with a calm, country feel that folks tend to find inviting. Residents live in apartment-style units, with choices between one or two bedrooms, each featuring full kitchens, large windows, washer and dryer hookups, and patios or balconies for fresh air. The apartments come pet-friendly, allowing some furry friends, and there's plenty of parking for residents and guests, along with free Wi-Fi and cable in every room, so folks can stay connected and entertained.

The community aims to support independence but provides different care levels like independent living, assisted living for those needing daily help, memory care for people with dementia, and skilled nursing for more medical needs, all with a team of healthcare professionals. For social life, there's always something happening-yoga classes, chair yoga for easier movement, arts and crafts programs, trivia games, Wii bowling, and musical groups that residents can join. There are happy hours, holiday parties, birthday celebrations, card and bridge games, and regular outings, making for a lively calendar.

Amenities include a spacious game and exercise room, an arts and crafts center, a library, recreation rooms, and communal dining areas where guests can join residents for meals. Dining happens restaurant-style with breakfasts and dinners served daily, using seasonal ingredients, and they can also accommodate special dietary needs. Residents may also eat at two nearby restaurants if they want a change of scene, and there's easy access to medical care, with several doctors' offices and pharmacies close by.

The Greens offers free transportation for shopping or appointments, and there are extra services like weekly housekeeping, laundry and linen service, apartment and lawn maintenance, mail delivery, and snow removal, so folks don't have to worry about chores. On-site security includes 24-hour staff, emergency call systems, and guards, helping people feel safe. There's also a beauty salon and barbershop for haircuts, plus on-site storage for personal belongings.

Residents can join in spiritual, social, and wellness programs, drawing on a tradition of Catholic care but welcoming people from any background. Touring the community is possible, where folks can see apartments, shared spaces like patios, gardens, and indoor lounges, as well as meet staff and current residents. The Greens accepts payment by check and is a non-smoking property, indoors and out. Living here lets seniors lead an active, independent life with plenty of help close by if it's ever needed.
