    Attentive compassionate staff, excellent therapy

I placed my mom at Lexington in Bloomingdale and have been very pleased. The staff are compassionate and attentive, therapy helped her mobility, the facility is spotless, meals are fresh from an on-site chef, and activities and communication make it feel like family - I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer feedback for Bella Terra Bloomingdale is strongly mixed, producing a polarized portrait of the community. A recurring positive theme relates to caregiving and therapy: many accounts describe compassionate nurses, aides, and therapists who produce measurable mobility improvements and provide attentive end-of-life care. Social programming is frequently praised โ€” residents and families mention bingo, movie nights, exercise classes and special events โ€” and several reviews highlight a family-like atmosphere and helpful front-desk and maintenance personnel.

At the same time, a substantial set of concerns emerges around operational consistency. Staffing levels and responsiveness are uneven: reviewers describe delayed responses to call buttons, long medication wait times, and occasional shifts without adequate clinical presence. These issues have led to safety and supervision concerns in some accounts. There are also repeated comments about gaps in medication administration practices and a need for clearer scheduling and oversight of clinical tasks.

Dining and therapy experiences appear variable between units and shifts. Some reviewers compliment an on-site chef and hot, fresh meals; others describe bland, institutional offerings or outsourced food with inconsistent quality. The therapy team is credited in many cases with effective rehabilitation, but a number of families reported limited progress or dissatisfaction with therapy follow-through in other cases.

Facility condition reports are similarly mixed. Several reviewers praise clean, well-kept dining and common areas and describe the facility as immaculate in photographed sections. Conversely, others cite dated rooms, uneven maintenance, sanitation concerns and pest-control concerns in parts of the building. These contrasts suggest variation between units and over time rather than a uniform facility condition.

Management and communication receive both commendation and criticism. Individual staff and managers are singled out for above-and-beyond attention in some narratives; however, other families describe inconsistent communication, slow incident notification, and a perceived lack of oversight. There are also accounts that raise serious questions about staff conduct and professional standards; these claims point to the need for transparent investigation and corrective action where appropriate.

Taken together, the pattern suggests that Bella Terra Bloomingdale can deliver high-quality, compassionate care in many instances, particularly where staffing and leadership are fully engaged. However, prospective residents and families should plan a careful, in-person evaluation: ask specific questions about current staffing ratios and response-time metrics, medication-administration protocols, sanitation and pest-control practices, meal sourcing and menus, recent state inspection results, and how the facility addresses conduct and oversight concerns. A focused tour and direct conversations with nursing leadership and the therapy team will help determine whether the communityโ€™s strengths align with an individual residentโ€™s needs.

    About Bella Terra Bloomingdale

Bella Terra Bloomingdale stays open all day and night, every day of the week, and the place rests on a quiet, pretty campus with ranch-style architecture and patios out back where folks can get some sun or fresh air, and you see the enclosed walking path with gardens where residents sometimes stroll or sit. The skilled nursing facility welcomes those who've just come from the hospital for short-term rehab, and it has on-site medical care with nurses and aides who know their job, helping people recover from surgery, illness, or live with health problems that need daily attention. You find physical, occupational, and speech therapy being offered most days-even on weekends-and the staff speak English, act warm, and try hard to help everyone feel included and respected, which many families and residents point out in their reviews, and they even won awards in 2024 for their care, activities, and meals.

Inside, the guest rooms are bright and have been fixed up to give a sense of comfort, and if someone prefers a private room, there's a cozy bed, a recliner, and small details to make it feel more like home. There's a well-lit dining room where tables are nicely set, the food comes from staff who try to balance nutrition and taste, and there's an award for meal quality to show for it. The lobby looks welcoming, with its chandelier and art, and you see staff and residents greeting one another kindly. Nursing and rehab centers here have the right equipment for exercises and treatments, and visitors are encouraged to wear masks to add a layer of safety.

Bella Terra Bloomingdale also provides respite and hospice care, along with long-term skilled nursing and memory care for folks living with dementia or Alzheimer's, where the staff use special care techniques to keep everyone safe. There's a strong focus on health services like cardiac care, wound treatment, in-house and peritoneal dialysis, and personalized rehab plans, and the team builds care around each person's needs, including chronic conditions. The campus has three patios, a safe walking area, and enough space for activities that support social, mental, and physical health. People say staff are helpful, attentive, and joyful, adding to a warm feeling in the community. Awards for friendliness and engaging activities show that the place supports both emotional and physical wellbeing.
