    Skilled Caring Staff, Spotless Facility

I had a very positive rehab stay - the therapists (John, Emy, Martina, Norman) and nurses (Leticia, Sandra) were skilled and attentive, and Debra in activities kept things lively with great music and events. The facility was spotless, the food excellent, and therapy clearly focused on getting me home. Staff coordination, housekeeping and admissions were efficient; I'd recommend this welcoming, rehab-focused center.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Remington Transitional Care of Richardson describe a facility with sharply mixed performance, where very positive experiences with therapy and cleanliness coexist with serious and recurring concerns about nursing care, communication, and management. Across multiple summaries, reviewers repeatedly highlight that therapists are strong contributors to recovery โ€” several accounts call them "outstanding" or "fairly good" โ€” and equipment and cleanliness receive consistently positive mentions. Some families report an open-door policy, good communication from certain staff members, and an overall willingness to recommend the facility.

However, the dominant themes in the negative feedback are significant and clinically concerning. Numerous reviewers report staff neglect and inconsistent nursing care, including slow responses to call lights, delayed diaper changes, missed medication doses, and wound-care failures (for example, bed sore dressings not applied). There are multiple reports of missed or lost lab results โ€” one reviewer reported a lost C. difficile sample โ€” and delays or errors with IV antibiotics, with at least one instance of the prescribed antibiotic not being available. These issues are described as creating real medical risk, including infection concerns and even fears of amputation by family members.

Communication and management problems appear systemic in several reviews. Families describe poor or nonexistent follow-up on test results and medication changes, administrators who are unresponsive, and understaffing that forces families to remain present and vigilant (for example, staying to ensure an evening snack is given). Some reviewers explicitly state the facility denied medically necessary inpatient days or made premature discharge decisions, which they say led to worsened conditions and emergency room visits after discharge. A few comments allege incorrect insurance denials and feeling that residents were discharged "before I could walk" or "sent home to die," reflecting high emotional distress and serious dissatisfaction with discharge planning and care transitions.

There is also notable variability in interpersonal interaction quality. While some staff are described as nice and helpful, others are called rude or disrespectful. Language barriers are mentioned โ€” including lack of English proficiency among some staff โ€” complicating communication, especially for residents with conditions like aphasia. Equipment and logistics problems were also cited: examples include residents left in the wrong wheelchair size for extended periods and the facility being described as "too large" for long-term stays by at least one reviewer.

In sum, the facility appears to offer strong rehabilitative therapy services and maintains a clean environment, which some families praise and would recommend. At the same time, there are repeated, substantive reports of nursing lapses, medication and diagnostic handling failures, poor administrative responsiveness, and risky discharge practices. Prospective residents and families should weigh the high-quality therapy and cleanliness against the documented risks in nursing care, communication breakdowns, and management/administrative shortcomings. If considering Remington Transitional Care of Richardson, families may want to ask specific questions about nursing staffing levels, medication management protocols, lab/result handling procedures, discharge-planning policies, and language accessibility, and they should plan for close monitoring during the stay given the variability reported in these reviews.

About Remington Transitional Care of Richardson

The facility keeps nurse staffing at 3.94 hours per resident each day, which is higher than the state average, and the nurse turnover rate's lower too at 38.1%. At this place, people find long-term care, skilled nursing, memory care for those with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, and a short-term transitional care unit for folks coming in after a hospital stay needing extra help, and there's a lane for outpatient therapy, orthopedic care, post-surgical care, joint replacement recovery, and clinical features like cardiac care, pulmonary care, stroke support, tube feeding, TPN, wound and respiratory care, plus special machines like bladder scan, doppler study, and EKG. Some rooms offer wall oxygen, and there's help with daily activities like dressing, bathing, using the restroom, walking, and getting in a wheelchair, and the nurses handle medication, wound care, podiatry, and occupational therapy. The building stays wheelchair accessible, with a sprinkler system, washers and dryers, cable TV, WiFi, parking, and air conditioning, along with private and semi-private rooms, kitchenettes, en suite bathrooms, and safety measures. Folks have access to a dining room, bistro, salon and barbershop, recreational and game rooms, a fitness center, pool, and guest parking, with social activities, arts and crafts, and programs on health, wellness, and education filling the days. Remington offers assisted living with studio, single, and two-bedroom setups, plus private rooms inside the nursing home with TVs in every patient room, and the facility supports flexible care through a continuum of services including hospice, palliative care, and home health. The team aims to give individualized care, helping residents keep their dignity and comfort by creating wellness plans, hosting brain-challenging activities for memory support, and prioritizing a kind, respectful environment. There have been a few infection-related deficiencies reported, like not always giving IV fluids safely or keeping infection prevention strong enough, but the facility has infection control measures in place and works with medical professionals to help improve care. Remington stays rooted in Texas through community partnerships and non-profit ties, and keeps transportation services on hand for appointments or outings. So when someone needs help, from daily tasks all the way to more advanced rehabilitation or memory care, Remington Transitional Care of Richardson makes options available under one roof.
