    Compassionate, attentive care for grandfather

I'm very happy with Angel Care - a clean, safe, family-like place where the caregiving and medical teams are attentive and responsive. Hospice support and meals tailored to my grandfather's needs made a difficult time better, and Administrator Doris and LaTisha (and the rest of the staff) were wonderful and easy to talk to. The team works together with real compassion; overall a great experience and I'm glad our family chose them.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed but coherent picture of Angel Care Assisted Living. Many families describe compassionate, communicative direct-care staff and an administration that can be responsive and supportive; several accounts highlight strong hospice coordination, attentive end-of-life support, and individualized meal planning. These positive descriptions emphasize teamwork among staff, a family-like culture, and cases where residents and families felt well cared for and satisfied with placement.

At the same time, a number of operational weaknesses recur across the summaries. Staffing levels are described as inconsistent, and reviewers linked that to delays in basic care tasks. Medication management and pharmacy coordination emerged as a notable area of concern — examples include delayed or missed medication administration and challenges getting medications reordered in a timely way. Dining was generally appreciated when meals were individualized, but there are also accounts of intermittent meal-service interruptions and food-supply problems that affected continuity and meal quality.

Facilities and maintenance show a similar split. Some families report a clean, well-maintained building and responsive handling of problems, while others described sanitation and odor-management deficiencies, issues with linens and laundry handling, and lapses in equipment or supply maintenance. Communication infrastructure (Wi‑Fi, specialized phones) was described as unreliable by some families, which affected resident contact and family communications. Multiple summaries raised concerns about gaps in family notification and the process used for transfers or moves, including missing belongings and delayed family alerts.

Management perceptions are polarized. Several reviewers praised administrative leadership for accessibility and problem resolution; others raised serious concerns, including an allegation of financial misconduct by a leader. There are consistent notes about perceived emphasis on pricing and billing transparency that left some families dissatisfied. Overall, clinical-incident response and communication protocols appear inconsistent — some incidents were handled promptly and to families’ satisfaction, while others exposed weaknesses in notification and follow-up.

Notable patterns: positive experiences tend to center on individual staff members or cohesive teams who provide person-centered care and strong hospice support. Negative experiences cluster around system-level functions: staffing, medication control, sanitation and laundry processes, supply maintenance, and family communication. A subset of reviews indicates improvement efforts and growing staff cohesion, suggesting variable performance over time or between units.

For prospective residents and families: ask about current staffing ratios and recent turnover, medication-administration protocols and pharmacy relationships, cleaning and laundry schedules, incident-notification policies (including transfer procedures), equipment-maintenance plans, and billing/pricing transparency. Also inquire about hospice coordination, sample menus and meal-continuity safeguards, and the reliability of on-site communication systems. These targeted questions can help clarify whether the facility’s strengths align with a prospective resident’s priorities and whether operational gaps have been addressed.

    About Angel Care Assisted Living

Angel Care Assisted Living has cozy rooms in neighborhoods finished and decorated to be soothing and easy for seniors to get around, and there're comfortable indoor spaces where residents can eat together, play games, or just sit and talk with one another, plus a family room for activities or quiet time. Residents find arts and crafts, music, games, book clubs, and exercise programs on the activity calendar, while the staff handles meals, laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance. The whole facility welcomes seniors 55 and older and serves folks needing different levels of care, including assisted living and secure memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other memory issues, and residents can age in place as their care needs change. There are supervised care options, daily reminders for medicine and restroom use, support for diabetes except for insulin shots, as well as incontinence care, and the care level ranges from light to heavy, with trained caregivers awake around the clock and nurses, psychiatrists, podiatrists, and therapists coming in as needed. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy, plus rehabilitation, are offered, and the community partners with outside healthcare providers for more specialized services. There're three meals a day and snacks, with dietary options for special needs like diabetic, kosher, or vegetarian diets, and residents who can't walk alone can get help with two-person transfers. Activities and devotional services happen on and off-site, the building is wheelchair accessible, and guests can visit and eat with residents. There's a secure memory care section for those who might wander, respite stays and hospice support, and salon services, too. No pets are allowed, but there's outdoor smoking, parking for residents and guests, as well as extra transportation options and a location convenient to bus lines. Rooms and shared spaces have cable or satellite TV, and residents can expect regular housekeeping, linens, and a community that tries to feel like home, offering tours for anyone interested in seeing the place and meeting the staff and people who live there. Payment options include checks, credit cards, all-inclusive rent, and Medicaid, and the community is licensed under AL11734.
