    Warm, safe community gives peace

I moved my mom into this small, one-story community and have been very pleased - licensed nurses are on site day and night, Adam (Director of Resident Services) is responsive, and the staff are warm and attentive. The building is clean, bright and beautifully updated, meals are nutritious and well-prepared, and included services (med management, bathing, laundry, room cleaning) plus engaging activities made the transition smooth. It feels safe, homelike, and gives our family real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviewers convey a largely positive view of Toby Weinman Residence, emphasizing attentive, compassionate care and a small, tightly managed community. The facility is frequently described as clean, secure, and homelike; families and residents commonly cite a welcoming atmosphere and continuity of care during transitions from rehab.

Care and staff: The dominant theme is strong, resident-focused caregiving. Licensed nursing staff are noted as being available around the clock and nursing aides and other caregivers are repeatedly described as warm, respectful, and attentive. Leadership, particularly the resident-services director, is mentioned for responsive communication and hands-on coordination of move-ins and care needs. This combination of 24/7 clinical coverage and engaged management contributes to a sense of safety and reliability for many families.

Dining: Dining is regularly framed as a strength when meals are described — nutritious, dietary-tailored, and prepared by on-site chefs. Multiple reviewers praise the quality and portioning. However, there is variability in impressions: a subset of comments describe less satisfactory meals. Prospective residents should consider a site visit that includes sampling current menus and asking about dietary accommodations and consistency of kitchen staffing.

Activities and programming: The community offers arts programming and resident-driven activities, with examples such as painting and group social events and mention of on-site spiritual support. Reviewers frequently note an emphasis on social engagement and programming that supports physical, intellectual, and emotional wellbeing. At the same time, some feedback indicates that activity variety can feel limited for certain residents, with references to primarily low-intensity offerings; this suggests programming may be well suited to some but less so to residents seeking a broader or more active schedule.

Facilities and environment: The property is a small, single-story building with 23 apartments that many describe as bright, updated, and thoughtfully designed. Cleanliness and maintenance are repeatedly praised. A minority of impressions describe the décor or vibe as dated or sterile, indicating some variability in perceptions of ambiance or which areas have been updated. The compact scale supports a homelike atmosphere and individualized attention but may also constrain the breadth of onsite amenities.

Management and notable patterns: Leadership and staff responsiveness are consistently highlighted as strengths; reviewers frequently credit management for smooth transitions, individualized attention, and timely communication. The small size of the residence is seen both as an advantage (personalized care, family-like relationships) and as a limiting factor (fewer program options and occasional variability in dining or activity offerings).

Recommendation guidance: For families considering this community, key confirmation points are sampling meals, observing or asking about current activity schedules, and touring apartments and common areas to assess whether the facility’s scale and atmosphere match the prospective resident’s preferences. The available clinical staffing and engaged leadership reduce many operational risks, but prospective residents who prioritize a wide range of programming or consistently high-volume dining options should verify those specifics during a visit.

    About Toby Weinman Residence

Toby Weinman Residence sits on the Menorah Life campus in St. Petersburg, Florida, and provides assisted living and memory care for adults 55 and over, being the only kosher assisted living facility in South Pinellas County, which matters a lot to people who keep kosher or enjoy Jewish traditions but welcomes and serves people of all faiths. The building holds just 24 residents, making it a smaller community, which means staff can give more attention to each person, and you won't get lost in the crowd. The facility's license number is 10306. Residents can choose from different floor plans including studio apartments, one-bedroom apartments, and Friendship Suites with two bedrooms and one bath, and the private units all have kitchenettes, large closets, emergency call systems, safety-equipped bathrooms, lots of natural light from big windows, and personal heating and air controls, which means people can make themselves comfortable year-round.

Those living here get help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication reminders or management from trained aides, and nurses are on staff part-time for medical needs. The facility offers respite care, in case someone needs short-term help or family caregivers need a break, and memory care is available for people with Alzheimer's or other dementia, set up to keep them safe and lower their confusion. There's physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and special programs like Renew You® Rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation for folks coming back from illness or surgery or just wanting to stay strong. There's also incontinence and diabetes care, medication services, skin and wound care, and evaluation and treatment of illnesses. They can coordinate care with outside healthcare providers as well, so people get more seamless help when they need it.

The community provides lots of activities to keep minds and bodies active, like art, music, games, fitness and wellness programs, scheduled outings, a gardening group, a resident music group, and game nights, and even Nintendo Wii bowling for a bit of fun. There are educational, social, and recreational programs meant to help residents stay connected, and people can always gather in the common areas with cable TV, the computer room, or the arts and crafts space. There are outdoor covered patios and a garden, which are nice spots for visits or quiet afternoons, and the short hallways make it easier to get around.

Dining is communal with a kosher kitchen, and chefs prepare meals daily with options for diabetic-friendly, renal, low fat, and low salt diets, and people can get room service or guest meals if they prefer eating in their own rooms. The residence has a bistro dining area, a coffee shop, and offers treats for visitors too, and a gift shop is available onsite. There's also housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, and linen service, as well as beauty and barbershop services for staying neat. Residents and guests have onsite parking, and there's guest parking too. Wi-Fi and cable run throughout the building and each unit, so people can stay in touch with family or just watch TV if they want.

The Residence supports pets, so people don't have to leave their companion animals behind, and it's set up to be handicap accessible. People get a say in their care through family-centered planning with professional nursing staff, and around-the-clock help is always there, including 24-hour emergency services. The building sits next to the Bernard L. Samson Nursing Center and has a full-power generator for emergencies, so people don't have to worry as much during storms. Security systems are in place for peace of mind, especially for those who wander.

An up-front entry fee of $2,500 is required and the community uses an all-inclusive pricing structure, which means there are fewer surprise costs. People can pay by credit card or check. The atmosphere's intimate, aiming to help people remain as independent as possible, surrounded by caring staff, with activities and services designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional health each day. Those looking for services that support the needs of older adults, including memory care, therapy, rehabilitation, kosher meals, and cultural or spiritual support, may find Toby Weinman Residence fits their needs, especially for those wanting a nurturing environment with a focus on overall well-being.
