    Clean, caring staff, great food

I've been very pleased since moving in. The facility is very clean, the staff-to-resident ratio is good and the caregivers are consistently kind, so I feel well cared for. I have a private room with shared common areas, the food is wonderful with regular food activities and outings, Medicaid was handled smoothly, and it's good value for the money.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for Azalea Manor present a mixed picture with clear strengths alongside operational inconsistencies. Many accounts highlight a generally clean environment in common areas, a favorable staff-to-resident ratio, and staff who can be friendly and helpful. Several reviewers described private rooms with shared common spaces, active programming (including outings and food-related activities), and dining that some families found appealing. The facility also appears to be positioned as an affordable option that accepts Medicaid.

At the same time, a number of substantive concerns recur. Dining experiences are inconsistent: while some residents and families praised the meals, others described poor food quality and raised sanitation concerns related to dining. Housekeeping and sanitation appear uneven across parts of the facility; this inconsistency contrasts with other reports of cleanliness and suggests variable performance by unit or shift. Maintenance issues were also noted, most prominently inadequate heating in resident rooms, which would be classified as a facilities/maintenance gap to clarify during a visit.

Staffing presents a mixed profile. The ratio of staff to residents is frequently cited as a positive, and many reviewers praised caregivers as attentive and supportive. However, other accounts describe inconsistent responsiveness and concerns about staff communication tone. Separately, at least one account raised concerns following a resident's death; this highlights potential gaps in clinical-incident response, family communication, and end-of-life processes that prospective families should review with management.

For prospective residents and families, the most notable pattern is variability: some people describe a very positive experience while others report significant operational problems. When evaluating Azalea Manor in person, prioritize direct observation and specific questions about meal preparation and sanitation protocols, heating/maintenance procedures, staffing schedules and training, incident-response and family-notification policies, and Medicaid/financial arrangements. Asking to see recent inspection results or incident logs, and speaking with current families about consistency over time, may help clarify whether the facility’s strengths are reliably delivered.

    About Azalea Manor

Azalea Manor sits in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood in the Historic Old Northeast area of Saint Petersburg, Florida, about a mile from St. Anthony's Hospital and close to churches, shops, restaurants, and parks, so folks have nearby places to go or things to see if they feel like it. The building stands two stories tall, houses 20 residents, and offers private and semi-private rooms or apartments that come furnished, are spacious and well-lit, and all rooms have a telephone. The community is locally owned and state-licensed with License #: AL5405. The team includes experienced, highly trained caregivers who give 24-hour supervision and help with bathing, dressing, transfers, medication, and other daily needs, and the staff uses an emergency alert system to assist anyone right away if something happens.

Folks at Azalea Manor have help with housekeeping, laundry service and dry cleaning, and on-site maintenance, so that keeps things easier. For meals, the kitchen staff prepares and serves food restaurant-style, which includes choices for allergy-sensitive and diabetic diets. Residents live in a place with access to lots of social and recreational activities like movie nights, arts in the arts room, and celebrations, plus there's a barber and salon for anyone wanting a haircut or to get their hair done, and a garden for spending some time outdoors, and there's also walking paths and a library. Community-sponsored activities and resident-run events keep people busy every day, and there's an environment that encourages people to get involved if they wish, from simple gatherings to bigger scheduled events for different tastes.

Azalea Manor provides both assisted and independent living options, so seniors who are in good health and active can live among their peers, while those who need more help get extra support. There are special services for Alzheimer's care, and the staff pays attention to privacy and dignity, following the resident's bill of rights. Some pets are allowed, according to the community's pet policy, which can make it feel a little more like home, although anyone deciding to bring a pet should check with the staff first. Residents can use transportation services for errands or outings. Teams on site help manage move-ins and keep things running, and residents can always find resources for any questions or concerns. Azalea Manor doesn't put on airs, but the staff tries to promote a sense of well-being with steady routines, help when needed, and by recognizing what makes each person unique. Tours are available for those wanting to see the spaces, meet staff or residents, or just get a feel for what life is like at the community.
