    Friendly staff and excellent care

I live here and I'm very pleased - the staff are friendly and genuinely caring, management is great, and residents are well looked after. There's a wide variety of engaging activities, a well-equipped gym, delicious lunches with many menu choices, and beautiful, peaceful outdoor grounds with plenty of seating in a relaxed atmosphere. My room and the common areas stay fresh and clean, and the location is super convenient - about five minutes from everything.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews describe a facility with a number of clear strengths alongside significant areas of concern. Positive comments emphasize attentive caregiving, an active social program, pleasing dining options, and attractive outdoor spaces. Conversely, other comments raise operational and governance questions — most notably about information-handling practices, variable maintenance, and inconsistent staff conduct.

Care and staff: Many comments indicate that residents are well cared for and that staff can be compassionate and friendly. At the same time, there are specific concerns about staff professionalism and the tone of staff–resident communication; these suggest variability in staff conduct and in how consistently respectful interactions are maintained. Prospective families should ask about staff training, supervision, and staffing ratios to assess consistency of care.

Dining and activities: The dining program is frequently described as diverse and satisfying, with a menu offering many selections and positive notes about lunch quality. Activity programming is another strength: reviewers mention engaging, varied activities and a gym with equipment that supports resident fitness. These elements point to a facility that invests in social and recreational offerings.

Facilities and cleanliness: Feedback about the physical plant is mixed. Several comments describe clean rooms, fresh living areas, and well-kept outdoor grounds and seating. Contrasting remarks label parts of the facility as run down, indicating inconsistent maintenance or variable conditions between units or buildings. This pattern suggests prospective residents should inspect multiple areas, request maintenance schedules, and ask about recent renovations.

Management, governance, and privacy: Perceptions of leadership are divided. Some reviewers praise management, while others express distrust of ownership and raise serious concerns about transparency. There are direct claims that resident information was mishandled or sold online; these are serious and are summarized here as allegations of improper data handling and privacy breaches. Families should obtain written privacy policies, ask about data-protection safeguards, and inquire directly about ownership and oversight structures.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is one of contrasts — strong programming and several operational strengths coexist with troubling governance and consistency issues. When evaluating this facility, consider an in-person tour, discussions with current residents and families, requests for documentation on privacy/data practices and maintenance logs, and clarification about staff training and supervision. Those steps will help determine whether the positive aspects evident in many comments are reliably delivered in practice and whether the governance and privacy concerns have been addressed.

    About Wirick

Wirick sits at 434 4th Street North in St. Petersburg, Florida, and holds a long history since its building went up sometime between 1920 and 1930, and it's part of what folks might call naturally occurring affordable housing, and it's changed over the years, offering 76 units now, with a mix of private and semi-private rooms, some with private bathrooms and some with shared but still aiming for comfort for both single and double occupancy. The place is known for assisted living and skilled nursing, focusing on serving older adults who may need support with daily routines like dressing, bathing, or moving from bed to wheelchair, and there are staff around twenty-four hours a day to help with medical needs, emergencies, insulin monitoring, and more. Most rooms have studio layouts, and the nursing home side can accommodate up to 41 beds, all under a Florida license, and it even holds a special license in Limited Mental Health, so residents with mental health needs can find care, community, and meals cooked with attention to nutrition by on-site chefs.

The facility provides meal service for all residents, along with scheduled events like movie nights, music therapy, animal therapy, board games, health and wellness programs, arts and crafts, exercise classes, and support for things like wound care, occupational therapy, memory care, and social activities meant to help everyone stay involved in mind and body. The building includes safety features like a sprinkler system and handicap access, and folks can use washers, dryers, WiFi, and spaces like a dining room, garden, fitness center, hot tub, steam room, salon or barbershop, and a game or activities room. Personal care assistants help with grooming, bathroom needs, laundry, and moving about, aiming to support a person's dignity as much as possible, and there's some transportation for doctor's visits, errands, and faith-based outings.

The pricing varies depending on the room type and care level-private nursing home rooms range from $9,000 to $11,000 per month, while semi-private rooms go from $8,000 to $10,000 per month, and assisted or independent living units start at about $1,800 for a studio and can reach $5,400 for two-bedroom setups, with fees depending on care needs and if you have a second person. The service can accept private pay, commercial insurance, veteran's benefits, social security, and sometimes long-term care insurance, with respite care and hospice options offered too. Wiirick covers a lot, as residents can get memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's, mental health support, and even recreation and activity programs geared to keeping everyone healthy and social, with the staff sometimes known for being joyful, helpful, and creating a welcoming place-so if someone'd like nearby parks, restaurants, hospitals, or churches, or just wants a setting where people can live as independently as possible while getting needed support, this facility's provided for St. Petersburg's seniors and adults since 1987, all in a setting meant to feel caring and respectful.
