    Tidy, compassionate facility preserving dignity

I was very pleased with this clean, homey facility - tidy semi-private rooms, pleasant smell, library, rehab and a nice courtyard. Staff were friendly and compassionate: Julie was knowledgeable, Matt in admissions was tremendously helpful, and Tonya and Cassie treated my mom like family; CNAs, nurses and hospice staff went above and beyond and kept good communication with us. Daily activities (Bingo, holiday events) kept residents engaged and my mother's dignity was well preserved - I would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews depict a facility with clear strengths in physical upkeep, engaging programming, and pockets of strong clinical and supportive care, alongside recurring operational weaknesses that families should evaluate closely. Many families describe the facility as clean and well maintained, with a homey atmosphere in resident rooms and usable amenities such as a courtyard and a library. The activity programโ€”Bingo, holiday events and routine social activitiesโ€”was frequently mentioned as contributing positively to resident quality of life.

Care and clinical quality: Clinical experiences appear mixed. Several accounts praise an effective therapy team and rehabilitation services that helped residents progress, and the presence of on-site medical coverage and knowledgeable nursing staff is viewed positively by some families. Conversely, other accounts describe inconsistent clinical outcomes, including advanced skin-integrity issues and weight loss in some residents. These contrast suggest variability in care delivery that may depend on shift, unit, or staffing levels rather than absence of clinical capability.

Staff and communication: Frontline staffโ€”CNAs and nursesโ€”are commonly described as friendly, compassionate and family-oriented, and individual staff members in admissions and nursing received specific praise. At the same time, recurrent concerns center on inconsistent responsiveness to call requests, difficulty reaching the facility by phone, and gaps in communication between clinical teams and families. Understaffing and turnover were cited as factors that appear to contribute to delayed responses and uneven care continuity.

Facilities, amenities, and daily life: The facilityโ€™s physical environment, including clean semi-private rooms, courtyard, library, and common areas, is consistently seen as a positive. Residents and families noted a pleasant atmosphere and opportunities for social engagement. Cost was identified as a barrier by at least one family, so prospective residents should confirm current pricing and what services are included.

Management, transitions, and safety: Reviewers flagged several operational issues tied to management and care transitions. Multiple accounts describe challenges with discharge coordination and social-services communication, inconsistent administrative availability, and concerns about the safeguarding of personal items. There are also reports raising serious conduct and care concerns; while these are not uniform, they suggest the need for prospective residents and families to review inspection records, ask about incident reporting processes, and seek clarity on wound-care protocols, staffing ratios, and property-protection measures. Infection-control policies, including restricted visitation during public-health events, were also noted as impacting family access.

What to ask during a tour: Given the mixed pattern of feedback, families should ask about current staffing ratios (day/night), wound-care and skin-integrity protocols, rehabilitation goals and expected timelines, procedures for protecting residentsโ€™ belongings, phone/communication procedures for families, discharge-planning processes, and recent leadership or management changes. Also request to see recent inspection or quality-review records and speak with current family members or residents when possible to get up-to-date impressions.

Each room has a private bathroom, an emergency call system, and daily housekeeping, while meals are served three times daily, and there are devotional services, social outings, transportation, and on-site activities for both connection and comfort. Staff provide around-the-clock nursing supervision with a physician, plus help with everything from personal care to medication, making sure everyone's needs are met, even for those who may need long-term care or can't safely live at home any longer. The facility supports residents' physical, social, and emotional well-being, focusing on compassionate care, recovery, and independence, whether someone's coming for rehabilitation after surgery or living there full time. The grounds and accommodations have a peaceful, resort feel, but the main priority stands as quality care, and Sun Terrace Health Care Center keeps working to improve safety and services as a Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity provider that meets all federal criteria for Medicare and Medicaid.
