    Warm caring staff, small apartments

I placed my mom here and overall we're pleased: the staff are warm, caring and create a family-like community with plenty of activities, and the common areas are clean and pleasant. Apartments are very small with limited storage/nightstand space, food can be inconsistent, and fees/startup costs are on the high side. Leadership can be strong, but I've also seen staff turnover and occasional lapses in housekeeping/communication. For us, compassionate caregivers and an active, homey atmosphere outweighed the space and price drawbacks.

    About Oaks at Alpharetta

Oaks at Alpharetta sits on a big, well-kept lot in the heart of Alpharetta, close to parks, shops, restaurants, hospitals, and churches, and is a family-operated place known for its friendly, welcoming staff who help residents and visitors alike with kindness. The single-story community has a country-home feel with wide hallways, cozy common areas, and lots of natural light, offering studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with private bathrooms, walk-in showers, kitchenettes, ceiling fans, and window treatments. Seniors here can choose from several care levels including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and respite care tailored to what each person needs, with trained staff like a Wellness Director and care partners providing support while helping residents keep their independence. There's a focus on Alzheimer's and dementia support with specialized care and a 5 Sense Therapy program that aims to help with awareness and lower stress. Pets are welcome, and the pet therapy program uses animal companionship to boost residents' moods and fight loneliness. The grounds feature lush gardens, a courtyard with fruit and vegetable patches, outdoor patios, and safe walking areas, with indoor spaces like a beauty salon, barber shop, library, business center, TV rooms, activity rooms, and a dining room where nutritious, good-tasting meals are served all day. Activities and outings happen often, with arts and crafts, club meetings, cooking groups, story time, game nights, Nintendo Wii bowling, gardening, music groups, and other ways to meet neighbors or stay active and entertained, and Oaks at Alpharetta has even won awards for their programs and meals. Physical therapy and occupational therapy take place right in the building, and skilled nursing, medication management, hospice, and incontinence care are available when needed, with regular laundry and linen service, housekeeping, dry cleaning, guest meals, and parking for visitors. The place pays close attention to residents' safety with emergency call systems, smoke detectors, and fire sprinklers in every room, and all rooms are wired for cable, internet, and Wi-Fi. Transportation is available for outings or appointments, companions or personal aides can help when extra hands are needed, and the community stays involved with lots of social, educational, and advocacy events, all in an environment that feels supportive and home-like for seniors 55 and older.
