Union County Nursing Home sits at 164 Nursing Home Cir. in Blairsville, right up in the North Georgia mountains where it stays pretty peaceful, and the trees are nice, and there's always fresh air; this place is part of Union General Health System, which means it works closely with the nearby Chatuge Regional Hospital and Union General Hospital, so residents can get a whole range of medical treatment if they need that, including things like surgical, emergency, and critical care services, plus there are all the regular hospital departments like diagnostic imaging, birthing rooms, labs, and specialists like therapists and surgeons. The facility itself is a nursing home with 150 beds and has dedicated staff and therapy programs, with special attention for people who need long-term care, rehabilitation, memory care, wound care, or even hyperbaric treatment, so whatever your health needs, they'll do their best to work out a plan just for you. They offer skilled nursing with 24-hour care, and it meets all the federal rules for Medicare and Medicaid, and doctors oversee residents' care, so medications and other medical needs are handled right there. For daily living, the staff helps folks bathe, get dressed, eat, and keep up with medications, and the place has specific units like the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home and the Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit, plus palliative care for comfort in serious illness. The place goes beyond just healthcare-residents can join in on a full calendar of activities, so there's something going on most days, and they've got a year-round sun porch that's nice for sitting, an outdoor pavilion you can reserve for special gatherings, and some private garden containers where you can plant flowers or vegetables if you want. The facility takes infection control seriously, especially with visiting-anyone can visit indoors without restrictions, and for those who'd rather stay outside, there are outdoor options, which they encourage for folks who aren't vaccinated. There's a beauty shop open Wednesday through Friday mornings too, for those who like a regular haircut. The whole setup is designed for different kinds of care, including assisted living and memory care for folks dealing with dementia, and trained staff try to support people's emotional and social well-being as well as their health. They're ready to care for residents when they need it most, and the home's review rating of 4.4 from 9 reviews gives an idea of how people feel about the care here, though everyone's experience can be a little different.

Declining care due to staffing
I used to feel at home here, but lately it's gone downhill: constant staff turnover, cut hours and underpaid caregivers mean slow call-bell responses, residents left in wheelchairs or beds, poor toileting schedules, declining mobility and even neglected dental care. A few nurses, night kitchen and housekeeping staff are kind and the place is clean with good food, but overall I'm worried and would not recommend this facility until staffing and care practices improve.
