    Excellent rehab stay, caring staff

I had a very positive rehab stay-admissions and paperwork were smooth, management was hands-on, and staff were caring, responsive and well trained. Outstanding PT/OT and attentive nurses/aides helped me improve enough to return to assisted living; rooms were clean and comfortable with nice garden views, good meals, and plenty of activities. I'm grateful to the team and would highly recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

East Cobb Center for Nursing and Healing is consistently described as a rehabilitation‑focused facility with a strong therapy program and numerous staff members who are perceived as compassionate and effective. The facility's physical and occupational therapy teams receive frequent praise for producing measurable functional improvements and supporting successful discharges home. Several reviews highlight two large therapy gyms, intensive therapy schedules, and individualized rehab plans that often lead to rapid progress for short‑term patients.

Staffing and daily nursing care are the clearest areas of variability. Many families compliment nurses, aides, and care partners for kindness and hands‑on support; however, recurring comments describe chronic understaffing that contributes to long waits for assistance, high aide workloads, and inconsistent attention to tasks such as bathing and wound care. There are multiple references to delays in medication and wound‑vac management and to skin integrity concerns; these indicate gaps in clinical continuity that prospective families should assess, especially for medically complex or cognitively impaired residents.

Dining and activities are generally viewed positively. The facility offers a varied menu, accommodates dietary needs, and runs a wide range of recreational options — game nights, arts and crafts, gardening, guest entertainers, therapy dog visits, and religious services are commonly mentioned. Food quality is described inconsistently: some reviewers enjoyed the meals while others called them unremarkable or heavy on carbohydrates. Activity programming is a clear strength for residents seeking engagement during a rehab stay.

Facility condition and amenities present a mixed picture. Many visitors and families describe clean, well‑maintained rehabilitation areas and pleasant outdoor spaces, and the site has modern visitor technology for check‑in. At the same time, the building and furnishings are often described as dated, and some reviewers raise sanitation and odor concerns in specific areas. Private rooms and therapy apartments are available, though waits for private rooms and limited guest bathroom availability are occasional operational issues.

Management and communication receive divided assessments. Several social workers, case managers, and front‑desk staff are singled out for excellent communication and coordination, and positive discharge transitions are frequently noted. Conversely, there are repeated accounts of disorganized discharge planning, poor holiday/weekend communication, difficulty obtaining records or resolving billing questions, and at least a few serious allegations about personnel favoritism and documentation irregularities. There are also reports of inconsistent adherence to infection‑control practices during outbreaks, which is an important consideration for families.

Taken together, the pattern suggests East Cobb Center is a strong option for short‑term, therapy‑oriented rehabilitation for medically stable patients who require intensive PT/OT. Prospective residents and families should balance the facility's rehabilitation strengths against variable nursing continuity and operational issues: evaluate staffing levels on evenings/weekends, review wound and medication‑management protocols, confirm discharge planning processes, and tour both clinical and long‑stay areas to assess cleanliness and physical condition. For individuals with high medical complexity or advanced cognitive impairment, families may wish to seek additional reassurances about nursing staffing, clinical follow‑up, and infection‑control practices before committing to long‑term placement.

About East Cobb Center for Nursing and Healing

East Cobb Center for Nursing and Healing LLC sits at 4360 Johnson Ferry Place in Marietta, Georgia, in a quiet spot with green surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere, and though it's a skilled nursing facility with a focus on both nursing and healing, it isn't taking new patients right now and has 7 out of 117 beds available as of June 2025, so most rooms are full. This place has English-speaking staff and provides care for people with more serious medical needs, supporting both long-term and short-term stays, and offers housing in private or shared rooms inside a single-story building, which can make getting around easier for folks that don't get around on their own as well these days. It's known for special care options, like stroke recovery, restorative care, hospice, palliative care, and post-surgery subacute care, so people who come here can get the treatment that matches what they need. Skilled nurses and experienced helpers offer 12 to 16 hours of hands-on nursing care with a 24-hour call system in place for emergencies, and daily help with bathing, dressing, and managing medicine or other routines. The rehab services cover physical, occupational, and speech therapy, all tailored to help each person try to reach better independence or return home stronger. Nutrition services make sure meals fit special diets or food needs, with mealtimes adjusted for personal preferences. There's a full calendar of therapeutic recreation and wellness activities to keep residents active and social, and amenities such as dining rooms, beauty services, housekeeping, and exercise programs that are meant to help people feel cared for and comfortable. The environment feels homelike and cozy, with staff treating residents like family and being there for daily support, whether that's helping someone move around or making a favorite meal. Some programs use unique names like "therapeutic healing programs" to describe their care plans, and Empire Care Centers manages the place, so it follows their methods and standards. East Cobb Center for Nursing and Healing is certified for Medicare and Medicaid and is a member of GHCA, but it isn't part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community. Safety protocols protect residents, including steps to prevent COVID-19 stays or outbreaks. The focus here centers on patient comfort, a sense of belonging, and working with each person to improve their health or ease transitions, whether someone's there for a short rehab stay or for longer-term nursing.
