    Peaceful, safe community; excellent amenities

I toured this beautiful, well-maintained community and was impressed by the attractive decor, lovely grounds, and peaceful, safe atmosphere. Staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful - dining, engaging activities, and memory/rehab support all felt excellent. Overall a solid choice that gives me real peace of mind as I consider independent living.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers describe a facility with many clear strengths alongside some persistent operational weaknesses. Positive comments cluster around the physical environment and customer-facing services: the property and grounds are consistently described as attractive and well maintained, common areas and decor are appealing, and tours and admissions interactions are frequently characterized as professional and helpful. Independent-living programming, activities, and partnerships (for example with a local college) are often highlighted as engaging and inspiring.

Staff performance receives generally favorable remarks for friendliness, professionalism, and promptness; many reviewers praise specific teams such as rehabilitation and memory-care staff for attentive support and valuable dementia education resources. Rehabilitation services and memory-care programming are particular strengths cited as delivering good outcomes and reassurance for families seeking those levels of care.

However, there are recurring concerns about clinical operations and care consistency. Comments point to variability in skilled-nursing quality and clinical follow-up, with specific references that imply gaps in wound-care follow-through and personal-care routines. These reports indicate broader operational issues such as inconsistent staffing levels and uneven responsiveness that can affect care continuity during certain shifts or in particular units.

Dining impressions are mixed: several reviewers praise the dining experience and menu variety, while others describe meals as overly fried or not consistently nutritious. This suggests variability in meal preparation or menu execution rather than a uniform dining profile across the facility. Activity offerings also appear uneven: independent-living residents report robust programming, but reviewers indicate that activity access and variety may be more limited in other care levels.

Management and grievance processes are another area of concern for some families. While admissions and tours are often professional, multiple comments note difficulty getting sustained follow-up or resolution when problems are raised, suggesting weaknesses in complaint-resolution mechanisms and in translating identified issues into permanent improvements.

For prospective residents and their families, the pattern suggests the facility offers a strong, attractive environment with notable strengths in rehab and memory care, and generally courteous, professional staff. At the same time, ask targeted questions during a visit about skilled-nursing staffing levels, clinical oversight protocols (including wound care and personal-care routines), nutrition and meal-planning practices, activity schedules across care levels, and how the facility documents and closes complaints. These lines of inquiry can help clarify whether the aspects others found inconsistent have been addressed and whether the facility’s strengths align with the prospective resident’s needs.

About Health Services at the Spires

Health Services at The Spires sits in a lakeside community with nice views and plenty of natural light, and the whole place feels peaceful and quiet most of the time, except when people are enjoying a movie or spending time in the activity room, or maybe when there's a group in the music program, and the staff always seem friendly and helpful when folks need something, whether it's a ride to a doctor's appointment, help with laundry, or just figuring out how to get settled in after a move. The Spires covers a wide range of senior care, so folks can pick from independent living, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing, and if care needs change, residents don't have to leave because there are options to transition from one care level to another, with support from staff. The place has services for people who need help with daily routines like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, or just getting around, and those who need more nursing help get regular care from registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and visiting therapists. There's memory care here too, with secure spaces and special programs, so residents with dementia or Alzheimer's can get support that fits their needs and keeps them safe, with specialized staff there at all times in case something comes up or someone needs extra supervision.

Meals at The Spires stand out because food service facilities keep high inspection scores, and there are several options like breakfast cafes and delis, including places called F & P Dining Facility, Freshens Aramark at Berry College, and Sweet Pickles Cafe, and Lavender Mountain Senior Living, Inc., handles dining for the community with chef-prepared meals and menus that work for different diets, whether it's for allergies or diabetes, plus snacks and concessions if anyone just wants a little something. People can visit the bright and open dining room for meals, but there are other spaces too, so folks can pick what feels most comfortable, and staff are always around to help with meal prep, feeding, or anything else someone might need.

Health Services at The Spires includes a lot of amenities that people use every day, like a pool table, a fitness room with workout equipment and fitness classes, activity rooms for crafts or group games, a spacious library, a beauty salon, spa and wellness room, and outdoor walking paths for those who enjoy being outside. There's a fireplace and common sitting areas where people like to gather, and resident rooms come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and phones. For regular events, folks can join in on movie nights, music programs, arts and crafts, social gatherings, and resident-run activities, with help from staff if needed.

Housekeeping and laundry services are included, so keeping living spaces tidy doesn't fall to residents, and move-in coordination, transportation, parking, and concierge services are all there to help people manage daily life. The community supports seniors who want to stay active and independent, but those who need extra help because of memory loss, medical needs, or trouble with daily activities can get personalized care, even to the point of 24-hour medical support or a call system in case of emergencies. Regular health inspections check food safety and general cleanliness, with recent scores in April 2025 showing high compliance, and each facility has its own permit and inspection number for tracking.

Health Services at The Spires works with other care centers in the area, like Chulio Hills Health & Rehab Center, Fifth Avenue Health Care, Harborview Rome, NextStep Care, PrimeCare Nursing Services, PruittHealth - Rome, and Renaissance Marquis, so residents can access a broader network if they need something different. The atmosphere is friendly, and the community tries to help people age in place, so they don't have to move if their care needs change. The Spires focuses on keeping daily life comfortable and engaging for everybody, with medical care and personal support always available, and a culture where folks know the staff by name and feel welcome, no matter what stage of life they're in or what level of care they might need.
