    Compassionate care, beautiful grounds, recommended

I'm very pleased with Madonna Manor - beautiful, well-designed apartments, lovely grounds with lake views and walking paths, and spotless buildings. The staff are warm, compassionate, and professional; nurses, aides and OT/PT went above and beyond to restore independence and provide respectful, dignified care. Dining, varied activities (including daily Mass) and a strong sense of community keep residents engaged, and admissions/administration were responsive and helpful. I highly recommend Madonna Manor for excellent care and real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Madonna Manor presents a mix of clear strengths and recurrent operational challenges. The facility's physical campus, apartments, and communal spaces receive consistent praise: reviewers describe attractive grounds, well-designed independent-living units, a restaurant-style dining room, and inviting common areas that support socialization. Admissions and administrative staff are frequently characterized as helpful, and families note assistance with Medicare questions and appeals. The therapy team (physical, occupational and speech therapy) is widely regarded as a strong clinical asset that produces good rehabilitation outcomes for many residents.

Direct-care staff receive largely positive comments for compassion and interpersonal care; aides and nurses are often described as kind and committed. At the same time, reviewers repeatedly emphasize that those same frontline teams are frequently stretched thin. Chronic understaffing, high turnover, and low morale are recurring themes that appear to affect care continuity. Consequences described include inconsistent medication administration, delayed responses to call lights and emergencies (notably overnight), and variable personal-care routines such as bathing and dressing. Several families attributed clinical setbacks to these operational gaps.

Dining and housekeeping present a mixed picture. The dining environment and certain kitchen and housekeeping staff earn positive notes, and some reviewers report recent improvements under a new chef. However, others describe variability in meal quality, temperature, and service speed. Cleanliness is often cited as a strength in common areas and several units, but there are also isolated maintenance and sanitation concerns (for example, carpet and odor issues and pest-control items) in parts of the facility that families recommend monitoring.

Management and leadership stability are additional areas of concern. Reviewers note frequent changes in nursing leadership, inconsistent communication with families, and instances of billing or charge discrepancies. While some families describe strong, responsive leadership and close collaboration with medical providers, others found communication ineffective and escalation channels unsatisfactory. These divergent experiences create a noticeable variability in family satisfaction.

Overall, Madonna Manor offers tangible positives—an appealing campus, robust therapy services, active spiritual and social programming, and many compassionate staff members. Those considering the facility should weigh these strengths against operational patterns that have produced inconsistent care experiences: specifically, ask about current staffing levels (including night and memory-care coverage), medication-administration protocols, recent turnover trends, maintenance and sanitation action plans, and how management is addressing communication and billing concerns. A targeted tour that includes conversations with therapy leadership, nursing management, and families of current residents can help clarify whether the facility's current operations align with an individual resident's needs and risk tolerance.

    About Madonna Manor

Madonna Manor sits on 28 quiet acres overlooking the Ohio River, and provides a peaceful place for seniors with different needs, whether they're looking for independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or adult day services. The community follows Catholic values and offers many kinds of health care and support, from 24-hour nursing care and medication supervision to bathing help and emergency care, and the staff always tries to give each resident careful and personalized attention. Seniors can get hospice care, respite care, post-acute care, stroke recovery programs, and orthopedic rehab, with physical, occupational, and speech therapies right on site, and there are also dental, podiatry, psychiatric, and psychological services. Madonna Manor has special memory care spaces with secure areas and around-the-clock support for those with dementia, and the staff is trained to help with memory needs and daily activities. There are kitchenettes in rooms, private and furnished accommodations, and amenities like a dining room for restaurant-style all-day meals-dietary restrictions like allergies or diabetes are handled. Residents find walking paths, community gardens, a chapel with religious services, fitness rooms, a barber and beauty salon, a media room, common lounges, and a library, plus home-like touches such as scheduled housekeeping, linen and laundry including dry cleaning, and even wireless internet. The Adelaide Center gives extra support for health and social life with a physician's clinic, future bistro and kitchen, lounge, and activity rooms. Madonna Manor is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), so seniors can stay in familiar surroundings even if their care needs change over time, since they offer both long-term and short-term care, including wound care, rehabilitation, and adult day services, and there's always a nurse or aide nearby for emergencies or help with tasks like dressing or transfers. Transportation, move-in coordination, pastoral care, and monthly leasing keep things easy without long commitments, and they accept funding through Medicare, Medicaid, or private pay. Regular activities, movie nights, arts classes, community and resident-run events, and scheduled outings help residents keep busy and social. Madonna Manor has won awards like "Top Nursing Home in Kentucky" and "Best Nursing Home in Ft Mitchell, Kentucky 2021," and they make sure to have registered staff hours-nurses, CNAs, therapists, and LPNs-so seniors get the support and safety they need, plus emergency alert systems for peace of mind. There's a special focus on making everyone feel supported in daily life and in health, while also encouraging residents to enjoy their surroundings, from lush gardens to quiet walking trails, and there's always someone around for a helping hand.
