    Resident praises move-in and amenities

I toured and chose to move in - the staff are professional, caring and responsive, and the move-in was smooth. My apartment is bright, spacious and well-equipped with lovely woods views; the grounds, walking trails and outdoor spaces are gorgeous. Dining is restaurant-style and very good, and the community offers an indoor pool, gym, salon, library and a wide range of activities plus levels of care.

    Summary of reviews

Edgewood LifeCare Community is consistently described as a full-service, higher-end senior living campus that emphasizes clinical quality and a broad continuum of care. Reviewers frequently highlight skilled nursing and assisted-living capabilities alongside independent living options, and characterize the clinical and caregiving teams as professional, caring, and dependable. Maintenance responsiveness and smooth transitions from private homes to campus living are also commonly cited, suggesting operational strengths in resident onboarding and upkeep.

Dining and programming are prominent strengths. The community offers restaurant-style dining, varied menus, and multiple dining venues; many residents find the food quality good to excellent. The campus supports a wide range of activities — from indoor swimming and fitness classes to lectures, concerts, painting classes, museum programs, and organized outings — which contributes to an active, culturally engaged atmosphere. On-site amenities such as a pool, gym, library, computer room, salon/barbershop, and a convenience shop further support resident needs and convenience.

The physical campus and living units receive positive remarks for spacious, bright apartments, attractive outdoor spaces, gardens, and extensive walking trails. Some areas of the campus are newer and described as top-tier and luxurious, while other portions are older wood-frame buildings; this produces variation in aesthetic and amenity quality across the property. The facility layout is somewhat spread out, which some residents appreciate for the grounds and privacy but others find results in longer internal walking distances.

Notable operational caveats include cost and location. The community is positioned at a premium price point, and a few reviewers described insurance limitations that affected financial planning. The campus is relatively remote for some families, and reviewers noted limited nearby hospital options, which may be a consideration for those who prioritize immediate access to external medical centers. There is also occasional inconsistency in dining quality between venues and some uncertainty around the specificity and availability of faith-based or cultural programs (examples cited include mixed support for Jewish programming).

Overall, Edgewood presents as a well-managed, amenity-rich life-care community with strong caregiving and an active program calendar. Prospective residents and families should weigh the benefits of its comprehensive services, attractive grounds, and robust activity offerings against higher cost, the campus’ spread-out layout, and local medical-access considerations. A detailed tour focused on the specific building and unit of interest, plus clarification about insurance and religious/cultural programming, will help match expectations to the parts of campus that vary in age and amenity level.

    About Edgewood LifeCare Community

Edgewood LifeCare Community sits on a peaceful 100-acre campus next to woods, scenic Lake Cochichewick, and the old Edgewood Farm, where you'll see lots of flowers, lawns, and stone walls, and there's always a bench out somewhere under the trees if you want to sit awhile. The campus has cozy homes, charming cottages, some barn-style buildings, and apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms, with unit sizes between 675 and 1519 square feet, and many come with things like big closets, patios, extra bathrooms, and those big windows that let in lots of light so you can see all the woodland and the birds outside, plus you'll find special touches in some places like a Den, Loft, or Study, all made to feel comfortable and safe. Living here means you've got options, whether it's independent living with your own apartment or cottage, assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, short-term rehab, or Lifecare, which covers future health needs so you don't have to worry as much if things change, and all the healthcare, like primary care at The Rokous Center, skilled nursing at The Meadows Health Center, and memory support at The Woodlands Inn, is right there on campus with trained staff available around the clock.

Edgewood offers a full calendar of meaningful activities and programs both inside and around the grounds, with everything from fitness classes and swimming in the indoor pool, arts and crafts, woodworking, peaceful walks or hikes on trails, to fishing or canoeing on the lake, and trips to nearby Boston. Meals are cooked by an executive chef who serves up seasonal, farm-to-table food that's both tasty and healthy, and if you need help with transportation, that's provided too. You can join in social events in the elegant community rooms or relax in cozy fireplaces lounges, and you'll always find someone to talk to or share a meal with. For those who need more care or help, Edgewood has personalized services, wellness programs, and activities focused on physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual wellness, along with help for health planning and transitions, falls prevention, end of life care, and more, backed by national safety and quality programs like the Fight the Flu Campaign and Massachusetts Health Consortium work. The staff, including the Innkeepers at The Woodlands Inn with its small-home model where ten people live together in a setting that feels like a New England inn, try to give care that respects dignity and independence, and there's a commitment to supporting caregiver wages and having the right staff for the number of residents.

Apartments and cottages are designed for comfort and privacy, with options for folks who like more space or want something smaller and cozier, all with easy access to outdoor areas and natural light. The community cares about every stage of health, offering memory support, skilled nursing, hospice, short rehab, and even adult day care, along with home health support for those who want to stay independent as long as possible. At Edgewood, you'll find plenty of ways to stay active, keep your mind sharp, and connect with other people, whether it's on a woodland path, in the kitchen with a cup of coffee, or during a group art class. The grounds stay quiet and beautiful all year round, and if you need extra help, you'll find staff who know their jobs and want to help. The focus is on making sure everyone has the dignity, freedom, and security they need, all in a setting that feels like home.
