    Compassionate staff, clean inviting residence

I live here and have been very pleased with the compassionate, attentive staff-nurses and caregivers are responsive and greet residents warmly. The facility is clean and well-maintained with comfortable private suites (bedroom/den and kitchenette), a large dining room and an active game room where residents play cards and puzzles; overall the care and atmosphere feel inviting.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive with consistent praise for the quality of care, the staff, and the condition of the building. Reviewers repeatedly describe the facility as clean, inviting, and well maintained, noting that the building shows no leaks and even offers a good view. Multiple comments highlight that residents are well cared for and that the overall level of care is excellent, compassionate, and attentive.

Staff and caregiving are the standout themes. Reviews emphasize that employees are wonderful, friendly, and responsive. Nurses and other staff members are described as experienced and attentive; residents are greeted cordially and treated with compassion. Several summaries explicitly call out prompt responses from staff and the sense that employees take good care of residents. This creates an impression of a facility where interpersonal care and staff responsiveness are reliable strengths.

The physical layout and communal spaces receive positive attention. The facility appears to offer an apartment-style layout for some units (bedroom/den and kitchenette), which can provide residents with a sense of independence and space. There is a large dining area and a game room where residents engage in cards and puzzles, indicating active social spaces that support interaction and leisure. Reviewers consistently describe the environment as clean and inviting, reinforcing the impression of good facility upkeep.

At the same time, several limitations are repeatedly mentioned. The facility is characterized as small with limited amenities and limited activities. While residents are observed participating in games and puzzles, the summary comments suggest that the range of activities and amenities may not be extensive. This limited scale could affect options for enrichment and variety in daily programming for some residents.

A notable operational concern mentioned explicitly is COVID-related restrictions that have prevented outside admissions. This indicates that the facility has experienced constraints on new resident intake or visitation tied to pandemic precautions, which could impact family access or the ability to accept new residents until restrictions are lifted.

In summary, Clark County Nursing Home & Residential Care is portrayed in these reviews as a small, well-kept facility with a strong emphasis on compassionate, experienced, and responsive staff and high-quality resident care. Physical spaces like private apartment-style units, a large dining room, and a game room contribute positively to resident life. The primary areas for improvement that emerge from the reviews are expansion of amenities and a broader or more varied activities program, and the temporary operational limitation of COVID-related admission restrictions. Overall, the prevailing impression is that of a caring, clean, and well-managed facility with limited scale and activities but with excellent frontline caregiving.

About Clark County Nursing Home & Residential Care

Clark County Nursing Home & Residential Care sits at 1260 North Johnson Street in Kahoka, Missouri, and the place has services for seniors who need help with daily living or more advanced medical care after a hospital stay, illness, or surgery, whether you need board and care, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing help, and they also have independent living options if you're able to manage on your own but want community support. The facility is built for elderly and disabled people who need nursing or residential care, and they provide a range of services like Adult Day Care, Memory Care for Alzheimer's and dementia with secure settings and activities, Continuing Care, Home and Hospice Care, plus Senior Apartments and more, all in a medium-sized community atmosphere that's focused on health, safety, and everyday well-being.

There are resident-run activities, an arts room, movie nights, a community room, and walking paths with a garden, so there's plenty to keep busy if someone likes to join in. Staff help with things like bathing, dressing, moving between spaces if needed, and medication management, and there are daily housekeeping and laundry services, move-in coordination to make the transition smoother, and different meal options including restaurant-style and all day dining, which can accommodate special diets for things like allergies or diabetes. The building has wheelchair access and an emergency alert system everywhere, with supervision day and night, along with a 24-hour call system. There's a library, a barber and beauty salon, and they provide non-ambulatory care for those who can't walk on their own. Nurses and caregivers are there to help with activities of daily living, while skilled nursing staff care for more complex medical needs, like wound care or rehabilitation therapy, and they take Medicaid and Medicare, which can help with costs. Rooms come furnished and have telephones, and there's always a staff member ready to help. The neighborhood feeling and garden, library, and activities give it a lively community spirit, and the facility supports both independent seniors and those with serious health conditions, all under the same roof, and you can find more information by visiting their website.
