    Summary of reviews

St. Anthony’s Senior Living is consistently described as a well-appointed, faith-based senior community with a strong emphasis on person-centered care and community life. Reviewers repeatedly cite warm, attentive staff and hands-on caregiving, supported by on-site clinical resources such as a registered nurse and structured medication management and oxygen monitoring. The community offers a continuum of services that spans independent living, assisted living, and memory care, with daily check-ins and individualized attention that families say provides peace of mind for many residents.

Dining and daily living are prominent strengths. The facility operates restaurant-style dining with varied menus and several reviewers praised the quality and flavor of meals and signature dishes. Meals are commonly included in rent and there are multiple dining venues (bistro, pub/library) that contribute to a social, restaurant-like experience. That said, reviewers also noted occasional inconsistencies in meal delivery for residents who receive in-room service and isolated concerns about plated presentation or food preparation; families who rely on delivered meals may want to observe a delivery service during a tour.

Activities and amenities are another hallmark: an active program calendar (exercise classes, arts, games, outings), well-equipped fitness spaces, outdoor courtyards, and daily/regular religious services. The physical environment is newer, bright, and meticulously maintained, with large windows, attractive common areas, gated entry, underground parking, and helpful move-in services. Transportation to appointments and guest accommodations add practical convenience for residents and visiting family members.

A number of operational concerns appear with less frequency but are important to consider. Some reviewers expressed perceptions of variable staffing levels and intermittent staff turnover; this was linked by some to slower responsiveness at times. A few comments raised questions about medication-distribution processes, and one or more reviews referenced alleged mishandling of resident property, which families should probe directly with leadership and through contract safeguards. The community does not offer on-site skilled nursing; families seeking higher-acuity long-term skilled care should confirm transfer and care escalation plans. There were also remarks about a controversial employee vaccination policy that has affected staff sentiment.

Overall, St. Anthony’s projects a welcoming, faith-centered campus with strong social programming, quality dining, and a caregiving culture that many families find reassuring. Prospective residents and their families should verify current staffing ratios and turnover trends, review medication-administration protocols, clarify property-loss prevention and reporting procedures, confirm the limits of on-site clinical care (skilled nursing), and tour during a mealtime or activity period to see services in operation. Those steps will help align expectations with the community’s generally positive attributes and the fewer operational concerns noted in reviews.

    About St. Anthony’s Senior Living

St. Anthony's Senior Living sits in a busy part of Brookside, Kansas City, within a few blocks of shops and restaurants, and the community aims to provide a safe and supportive place for people aged 62 and better. The campus is gated and has a strong focus on safety, plus private apartments for all residents so nobody has to share a living space, and there are many apartment floor plans, with some having walk-in closets or fireplaces and full kitchens or kitchenettes. The independent living apartments include options for both one and two bedroom homes, sunrooms for relaxing, and short hallways to make getting around easier, which people definitely appreciate when they're not looking to walk a mile just to get to lunch, and it helps that the assisted living apartments also have oversized bathrooms for ease. For folks in assisted living and memory care, three daily chef-prepared meals and snacks are included, with all utilities covered in rent-heat, water, electricity, cable, internet, laundry, housekeeping, and transportation-so you really don't have to track a pile of bills every month, and the dining room features a big 350-gallon fish tank that's nice to look at.

Memory care at St. Anthony's uses staff who've been trained by Certified Dementia Practitioners, and the memory care suites focus on safety, warmth, and comfort, with 32 studios designed to reduce confusion and prevent wandering, so people with Alzheimer's or dementia can feel secure. There are 49 assisted living units with studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans, all with tailored help for daily needs like bathing, dining, and getting around. There's an independent living section with 120 apartments, where every unit has a fireplace, and some have sunrooms for extra light and space. The care team-including licensed nurses, visiting doctors, therapists, and part-time nurses-offers 24-hour support for memory care and assisted living residents, helping with medication management and health needs, and they can help coordinate special therapies and even in-home care or hospice if needed. The kitchen staff works with dieticians to provide specialized menus for different health needs.

St. Anthony's tries to meet the spiritual and social needs of people, offering daily Mass in the chapel, spiritual services for different faiths, and even a resident priest, so people can continue their traditions. There are many ways to stay active, with things like fitness classes, a full-service salon, art and craft programs, music, billiards, shuffleboard, cooking with friends, balloon volleyball, group outings, and gardening. The community is also pet-friendly, with a dog park out back. Amenities include a library, computer lab, pub, restaurant, chapel, a hot tub spa, and a community garden for those who like to dig in the dirt or just sit and enjoy some green space. Staff offer help with housekeeping, laundry, and transportation to doctor visits or shopping.

People who live here tend to say it's a friendly place, with neighbors who like to chat, common spaces for relaxing, and a management team that's responsive and tries to be helpful. The community culture focuses on staying as independent as possible, encouraging residents to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle on a monthly contract instead of a large upfront fee. Programs like "Empower Me" and various life enrichment events aim to help residents find new interests or continue old hobbies. Every apartment, whether in independent, assisted, or memory care, tries to feel bright, safe, and welcoming. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services licenses this provider, and it seems well-suited for people wanting a mix of independence, community, and daily support-without needing to move if their care needs change, since the campus offers a full range of services.
