    Immaculate compassionate faith based care

I placed my mom here for several years and felt very satisfied - the home is immaculate, the rooms and gardens are beautiful, and the chapel/spiritual services were important to her. The Sisters and staff (nurses, aides and social worker) were consistently compassionate, professional, and attentive with medical care, daily needs, activities and great meals. I'm deeply grateful for their loving, dependable care and would recommend this warm, faith-based home to others.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews portray St Joseph's Senior Home as a faith-based, small-scale assisted living and nursing center characterized by strong spiritual programming, attentive direct care, and well-maintained grounds. Families repeatedly emphasize compassionate staff behavior—both lay caregivers and Catholic Sisters—and a home-like culture that places visible emphasis on dignity, daily worship, and person-centered care. Cleanliness, orderly facilities and attractive outdoor spaces are consistent positive themes.

Care and staff: The facility is consistently described as having committed, caregiving personnel including nurses, aides, custodial staff and resident-facing Sisters. Reviewers cite attentive nursing, help with feeding and mobility, and compassionate palliative and end-of-life support. Multiple families noted individualized attention that helped residents regain weight, mood, or social engagement. Communication with families—regular updates, prompt alerts, and a supportive social-worker presence—was frequently noted as a strength. Reviewers also highlighted staff actions during the pandemic and a vocational, mission-driven approach among the Sisters.

Dining, services, and clinical supports: Dining is described as home-style with accommodations for special diets and generally plentiful portions. Operational services such as laundry, housekeeping, and salon/hygiene supports are identified as reliable. The facility provides several on-site clinical and personal services (physician, dental, pharmacy links, hair care), which families found convenient. Physical therapy and exercise programming are available and integrated into daily life for residents needing rehabilitation support.

Activities and facilities: Programming includes arts and crafts, music, movies, games, learning sessions, and both indoor and outdoor social opportunities. A small, multipurpose dining area, a stained-glass chapel, and well-kept gardens and courtyards contribute to a tranquil environment that reviewers found restorative. Rooms are described as adequate rather than luxurious, which, combined with the small size, supports a close-knit community feeling.

Management and notable patterns: Management and front-office staff receive mixed but mostly positive comments for family communication and attention to detail. However, reviewers raised some operational concerns that prospective families should investigate further: inconsistent practices around incident response and readmission after acute events; administratively slow intake and insurance/Medicaid processing; limited capacity or logistics for complex transfers or stair-dependent care; and isolated instances of staff communication or professionalism lapses. There are also serious allegations of discriminatory conduct toward Hispanic residents that merit specific inquiry during admissions. A few accounts imply the facility may not be set up for very high-acuity, medically complex cases.

Recommendation for prospective families: St Joseph's appears to offer a spiritually oriented, clean, and engaged community with strong hands-on caregiving and a robust activity program. Prospective families should verify operational policies that matter most to them—readmission/incident-response procedures, transfer-and-lift capabilities, expected timelines for intake and Medicaid processing, staff training on cultural sensitivity, and clinical capacity for higher-acuity needs—to ensure alignment with their loved one’s clinical and administrative requirements.

    About St Joseph's Senior Home

St Joseph's Senior Home - Assisted Living and Nursing Center is a non-profit Catholic senior home run by the Little Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, serving seniors since 1981 and offering both assisted living and skilled nursing care in a setting that feels peaceful and safe. The home features a 51-bed nursing care area for long-term and short-term stays, with 24/7 nursing and care staff ready to help with medical needs, along with a 60-bed assisted living section where residents can live in private or semi-private rooms, some even have kitchenettes. Residents get three healthy meals a day made by chefs, with meal planners making sure they're nutritious, and staff take care of laundry and cleaning for everyone, which helps take some worries off residents' minds. Wide hallways and sturdy railings make it easier and safer for people to get around with walkers, canes, or just a steady hand, and there are support systems in place for those who need help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or medication. The team looks after residents' health with personalized care plans and offer services like rehabilitation care, palliative care, and visiting nursing, taking extra steps for those living at home who might need a bit more help. Residents can spend time in the arts room, game room, or library, stroll along walking paths, sit in a quiet garden, enjoy movies, music programs, and pet therapy, or join in planned activities and day trips-so there's always something to do and ways to feel connected with others, even as folks keep their own space and privacy. There's always someone to call for help with the round-the-clock call system, plus the Sisters and a spiritual life program, including a Church at Home and spiritual counseling for anyone who wants it. The staff and Sisters speak both English and Polish, so residents from different backgrounds feel included, and the community has a strong sense of belonging and care. Visiting hours run all week from 8:30 am to 8 pm, letting families come by at most convenient times, and there are virtual tours to see the place before making decisions. The main idea here seems to be a simple and caring environment where health, safety, and spiritual needs are taken seriously and everyone gets the support needed to live a full daily life, surrounded by both people and programs that support mind, body, and spirit.
