    Beautiful active community but pricey

I toured and helped my parent move here and overall I'd rate it 4-5 stars. The building is beautiful, immaculate and well-run with friendly, attentive staff, great location, lots of activities, restaurant-style dining and reliable transportation - residents seemed happy and safe. My complaints: many units are small or have odd layouts, storage is limited, and the community is pricey; there are also occasional communication and staffing lapses that could affect medical/shift continuity. Great for independent, social seniors who want a resort-like, active place; not my pick if you need consistent high-level medical care.

    About Castle Pointe at Baywinde

Castle Pointe at Baywinde sits on 200 Kidd Castle Way in Webster, NY, in a peaceful spot near Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario, and the atmosphere always feels like a coastal resort with its well-kept landscaping, inviting building features, and tall windows in the shared spaces, giving plenty of sunlight for sitting or reading or having coffee, and some of the chairs and sofas in the living rooms really do look comfortable with the soft lighting and big windows looking right out over the green lawns, and you'll see residents bringing their pets around too, since this place keeps things pet friendly. The community keeps a big list of living options. Independent living, villas, short-term stays, assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, and home care with trained aides are all here, with floor plan choices that include studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom apartments, and spacious villas like the Buckingham layout and the 2 Bed 2 Bath unit, all with storage, emergency call systems, private bathrooms, and walk-in closets, which really does help people stay organized. The grounds come with walking paths, outside patio gardens, enclosed courtyards, and even butterfly and hummingbird gardens, where folks will often spend time on sunny days, and if you like gardening there's a shared greenhouse for residents. Many common amenities show up throughout the property, such as a piano lounge, movie theater, beauty and barber shop, nail salon, card and game room, billiards area, computer room, fitness center, mini golf, and a library. There's a chapel as well, and a meditation or fellowship area for those who want quiet time or to attend devotional services, both onsite and with trips off property. The full dining experience matters here with a restaurant-style setup, a bistro with a full bar, and menus designed by chefs to be nutritious and tailored to different tastes-including international cooking and vegan options-and staff offer meal service in the dining rooms or in your own room if needed, and they'll even set a private dining room for special gatherings, which residents seem to enjoy, especially when the tables are set up with green napkins under the seascape mural. Seniors have access to amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi, concierge services, free resident parking, garage options, laundry and housekeeping, extra storage, and on-site maintenance, and the facility covers utilities as part of the packages so it's easier to plan each month. The staff here know specialized caregiver training, run sensory programming and reminiscence therapy, and arrange full schedules of activities-hobby clubs, arts and crafts, social events, continued learning, exercise classes, movie nights, group outings, and support for staying active and engaged no matter what you like to do. Healthcare and personal support covers independent living, assisted options, memory care with a secure environment for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, nursing care, and hospice when needed, with tailored support for each resident and a focus on giving everyone choices and keeping dignity in mind, and the staff are always around 24/7 if someone needs help. There is a sister campus called Sage Harbour at Baywinde for assisted living and memory care if that's needed down the line, which makes things a little easier if you need to move but want to stay close to friends. The property also offers regular events like Open House tours with lunch, which lets you see what day-to-day life looks like, including the regular activities and community happenings, and residents get to join in offsite religious services, volunteer trips, or just outings for fun or groceries, since housekeepers and staff will even help shop. Residents can expect award-winning care-recognition like the Best of Senior Living and All Star awards hang on the walls-and veterans can use VA benefits, including Aid and Attendance. No matter the level of support needed, the approach centers on safety, comfort, and letting each resident live as independently as they wish, with plenty to do, chef-prepared meals, and a pleasant setting to call home.
