    Gorgeous grounds and excellent amenities

I live in this beautiful, gated Baptist retirement community and feel blessed - the grounds, rooms, and public spaces are gorgeous and very well kept. The staff are warm and knowledgeable, there are abundant activities and amenities (pool, lake, auditorium, shuttle) and multiple care levels and on-site medical services under one roof. I'm happy to be part of the community and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Gardens of Taylor Glen presents as a well-maintained, higher-end retirement community with an on-campus continuum of care. Reviewers consistently describe clean common areas, attractive grounds with a lake, and residential units that include spacious floor plans. The campus layout includes amenities such as an auditorium, recreational spaces, a physical-therapy pool, and convenient parking with shuttle service, which together create a resort-like environment for many residents and visitors.

Care and staff: The facility offers multiple care levels under one roof — independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing — and an attached medical/skilled nursing component that supports transitions between levels. Reviewers characterize staff as warm, friendly and knowledgeable, and several comments reference well-run operations and helpful guides during touring or move-in. There are positive references to a faith-based (Baptist) culture that some residents find spiritually and socially supportive.

Dining and activities: Dining is described as cafeteria-style within attractive dining spaces, and reviewers praise the quality of public dining areas. The community offers a broad activities program, with many organized events and opportunities that residents find engaging. That said, reviewers indicate that participation by residents in the memory-care unit is more limited than elsewhere on campus, which suggests variability in program engagement or outreach specific to that unit.

Facilities and management patterns: Physical plant strengths include neat landscaping, secure gated access, pleasant communal spaces, and room options that allow residents to bring furniture. The availability of a locked memory-care unit and a therapy pool are notable clinical and wellness assets. Patterns in feedback point to consistent strengths in cleanliness, aesthetics, and staff demeanor. The principal operational concern raised across comments is cost: the community is described as expensive, and there is a specific policy note about a non-refundable upfront entrance fee that may affect affordability and decision-making for prospective residents. Another practical consideration is room configuration availability — semi-private rooms are present, which may limit private-room options for some applicants.

Bottom line: The Gardens of Taylor Glen appears to be a well-appointed, professionally run campus with comprehensive care options and strong environmental and staffing positives. Prospective residents and families should balance these strengths against the facility's cost structure, entrance-fee policy, and the reported variability of activity engagement in the memory-care unit when assessing fit and value.

About The Gardens of Taylor Glen

The Gardens of Taylor Glen has a long history of helping older adults live well at every stage of life, with a mission to honor the dignity and worth of each person, and it's owned and operated by Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina so you'll find a faith-based, not-for-profit environment that cares deeply about quality and compassion. The community offers many levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and continuing care services, all right on the same campus so residents can age in place and get help as their needs change. People can choose from well-appointed apartments, standalone cottage homes, or villa apartments, many with outdoor spaces like balconies, and floor plans go from cozy one-bedroom layouts to larger two-bedroom designs, with natural light, comfortable furniture, and stylish decor making these homes bright and inviting without feeling too fancy. The community stays active with events and amenities like a game room with billiards and TV, a built-in bookshelf library with cozy armchairs, water aerobics, yoga, Bible study groups, and outings, while outdoor options like sidewalks, a community garden, green space, a pond with a gazebo and fountain, and landscaped grounds give everyone a nice spot to walk or relax-there's even a covered portico entrance with a brick fountain and lush green lawn that makes people feel welcome.

The Gardens of Taylor Glen provides residents with three homemade meals daily, and they handle special dietary needs for things like high blood pressure or diabetes, plus housekeepers take care of laundry and cleaning so people don't have to worry about chores, and staff offer help with medication, dressing, bathing, toileting, and transfers if needed, with emergency and safety systems working around the clock, so folks and their families feel safer knowing help is always close. Memory care comes with a secure, protected wing, special Mindful Impressions programs for Alzheimer's and dementia, and activities like music therapy, pet visits, group games, outdoor time, and crafts, with staff trained to handle insulin shots and two-person transfers and with 24-hour support for those at risk of wandering. There are also physical therapy, occupational, and speech rehab services right at the community for folks recovering from a hospital stay or needing ongoing care, and the nurses and aides support both short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing needs.

Residents can use transportation for errands, doctor's visits, or even church services, and the community makes it easy for people with mobility challenges to get around, with non-ambulatory care available, move-in coordination, and furnished rooms ready, plus there's a traveling hairdresser and a wellness area where folks can relax in a jacuzzi or sauna. Community life means plenty of activity, like movie nights, social events, board games, bridge clubs, and art rooms, and the Brice Pointe neighborhood even features waterfront views and life-enriching amenities for an active retirement. The Gardens of Taylor Glen keeps up with the times too, using social media to connect with families, and a special Foundation supports residents in need, helps with medications, and pays for community improvements, so everyone gets the chance to enjoy a full life. The community is bringing North Carolina's first GREEN HOUSE® home to its campus for memory care, which is something rare and special in the region, and overall, everything here comes together to support seniors with care, dignity, and a simple way of living that helps people feel comfortable, safe, and part of a warm community.
