    Beautiful grounds and attentive staff

I toured and moved my loved one in and have been very pleased. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and spotless, dining feels restaurant-quality, and staff are attentive, welcoming and responsive. There are plentiful activities, excellent rehab/therapy services, and useful amenities (pool, salon, transportation, full-kitchen units), so I feel secure and would recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Evergreen Retirement Community elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many residents and families praise the campus for its attractive, park-like grounds, varied housing options (including roomy cottages with in-unit laundry), and a wide array of amenities such as a pool, auditorium, beauty salon, and multiple social spaces. The community offers a full continuum of care on one campus, which several families found convenient. Activity programming is robust and diverse — arts and crafts, sports, current-events groups, gardening, musical entertainment, outings and trips are frequently highlighted — and the activities leadership is often singled out as an asset.

Front-line staff receive a large portion of positive feedback: reviewers describe many employees as warm, attentive, and committed. The facility also has notable clinical strengths in rehabilitation and therapy; multiple accounts credit a strong therapy department and positive rehab outcomes. At the same time, reviewers describe uneven clinical performance outside of therapy. Staffing shortages and turnover are recurring themes and are commonly linked to longer call-response times, delays in clinical care or medication administration, and variability in assistance with activities of daily living. Families should assess current staffing levels and on-shift clinical coverage during tours, especially if assisted living or memory care is under consideration.

Dining and food service are inconsistent across accounts. Some reviewers describe restaurant-style dining, special culinary events, and excellent meals; others report a post-pandemic decline in quality, small portions, late or missed meals, and variable service. Housekeeping and maintenance are similarly mixed: many units and common areas are noted as clean and freshly updated, while other reports indicate sanitation concerns in specific rooms and slower-than-expected maintenance responses. Infrastructure reliability is a concern in some reports — intermittent HVAC failures, elevator outages, pool or guest-quarter closures, and delayed repairs have been cited.

Communication and management follow-through emerge as a significant pattern. Positive experiences with helpful admissions and relocation support exist alongside repeated comments about unclear billing, unexpected charges, and promises made during sales that were not consistently fulfilled. Several reviewers describe difficulty getting timely responses from management, inconsistent leadership, or frequent leadership changes; a smaller number raised serious safety and incident-related concerns, including transportation-related injuries and clinical events. These more serious claims have been characterized as isolated allegations within the overall dataset but warrant careful inquiry during a family’s evaluation (ask for incident logs, recent survey results, and transportation safety policies).

Overall, Evergreen offers many features attractive to independent-living residents who can afford the community and prioritize campus lifestyle, activities, and therapy services. Prospective residents and families should balance the campus strengths against the documented operational weaknesses: verify current staffing ratios and turnover trends, review recent maintenance and safety records, ask for details on dining-service hours and meal guarantees, confirm billing and refund policies in writing, inspect assisted and memory-care neighborhoods in person, and request references from current families. Doing these targeted checks will help determine whether the community’s strong amenities and therapy reputation align with an individual’s care needs and expectations for operational reliability.

    About Evergreen Retirement Community

Evergreen Retirement Community sits on a big, park-like 63-acre property in Cincinnati, Ohio, where residents have plenty of space to walk, garden, and watch wildlife, and you'll find things like a putting green, tranquil courtyards with fountains, raised gardening beds, and a greenhouse. The apartments come in different sizes, including one and two-bedroom units, and some country cottages have wood-burning fireplaces, walk-in closets, balconies, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning, plus a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Folks can have their pets with them, since the community is pet-friendly, and there's always complimentary WiFi and all utilities included in the service package.

The common areas are set up for comfort, with cozy libraries filled with books and armchairs, rooms with fireplaces, a TV lounge, elegant dining rooms with big windows, bistros, bars, movie theaters, a billiards lounge, and even a piano lounge. There's also a business center with free WiFi, arts and crafts studios, game rooms, and meeting spaces. For people who like to stay active, there's an outdoor pool, fitness center, spa, tennis courts, walking paths both inside and outside, and a rehabilitation gym, plus raised gardening beds and lawn bowling courts, so nobody feels stuck inside. When folks don't want to cook, they can have chef-prepared meals in a restaurant-style dining room, private dining rooms for family visits, or bistro snacks, and there's always room service or guest meal options too, with special programs for different dietary needs, and a café for casual bites and coffee.

The care services cover a wide range, from independent living for people who want their own space and do things on their own, to assisted living where staff can help with bathing, dressing, getting around, and taking medicine, plus there's skilled nursing for those who need more medical help, and memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with special attention and safety features. There's always registered nursing staff on duty, 24-hour emergency call systems, home care agency services, medication reminders, and medical supervision, as well as wellness monitoring. For rehabilitation, there are physical, occupational, and speech therapies on-site with special rooms for exercises and care programs. If someone needs hospice, those services are available too. The staff support people with laundry, regular housekeeping, daily living assistance, transportation, and scheduled trips, and transportation can mean a shuttle, complimentary rides, or help using the bus lines for off-site outings and medical appointments. There's also an on-site beauty salon and barbershop, so getting a haircut is easy, plus concierge services, mail collection, grocery delivery, and maintenance handled by staff.

Activities run all day, every day, with social and educational events, outings to Cincinnati golf courses or sporting events, movie nights, games, arts and crafts, religious services for a range of faiths including Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant services, with visiting rabbis and chaplains, and even Montessori-style programs for adults to stay mentally active. The community has a culture of kindness, and people find it easy to join in, whether it's gardening, attending concerts, creative workshops, or just relaxing in a sunny courtyard with neighbors. The grounds and buildings are kept up very nicely, and they've put in newer HVAC technology to improve air quality and cut down on germs. Security and safety systems run at all times. With flexible care, friendly staff, beautiful grounds, and many options for fun or relaxation, Evergreen Retirement Community gives older adults the chance to live comfortably, with support close by as needs change.
