    Warm, family-like facility; excellent therapy

I'm very pleased with my mom's stay - the facility is clean, peaceful and feels safe, and staff (including the hands-on DON and the therapy team) are respectful, caring and professional. Therapy helped her regain strength and the team (nurses, aides and admissions support like Joe) made the transition smooth; residents are engaged and happy. Overall a warm, family-like place I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Harrison Pavilion Rehabilitation & Nursing Care are strongly polarized, with a substantial set of families and residents praising the facility’s rehabilitation services, caring staff, and social environment, while other accounts raise serious operational and safety concerns. Many families describe positive therapy outcomes — including measurable mobility gains and successful returns to home — and single out the therapy team as a particular strength. Nursing staff, aides, and a hands-on Director of Nursing are frequently praised for clinical attention, family communication, and assistance navigating financial or insurance matters.

The facility’s activities program and social calendar are consistently highlighted as strengths: reviewers mention daily activities, holiday and Veterans Day events, bingo and recreational programming that promote socialization and resident engagement. Dining receives mixed commentary; several accounts commend nutritious meals and dietary accommodations, while others describe inconsistent food quality and meal-service experiences. The building itself is often described as remodeled, bright, and comfortable, with private-room options and improved common areas. Admissions and transition processes — including a digital sign-in system and an active admissions liaison — are generally reported as smooth and helpful.

Counterbalancing these positives are repeated operational concerns that prospective families should probe. Multiple accounts indicate inconsistent staff professionalism and variable responsiveness, including episodes that reviewers characterize as unprofessional or insufficiently attentive. Staffing levels and use of temporary agency personnel are mentioned as factors that appear to affect consistency of care. Several reviewers raised clinical-care concerns that reflect underlying process gaps — in particular wound-care practices, feeding assistance, and transfer safety — suggesting uneven adherence to clinical protocols.

Facility maintenance and sanitation are areas of mixed feedback: while many describe a clean, well-kept environment, some accounts cite maintenance lapses and sanitation concerns in specific areas. Security and after-hours access also receive mixed reviews; there are reports of helpful security staff and controlled access alongside descriptions of limited reception visibility and communication after hours. A small subset of reviews includes very serious allegations, including claims of criminal conduct and references to regulatory citations; these raise questions about oversight, incident investigation processes, and regulatory compliance.

Overall, Harrison Pavilion shows clear strengths in rehabilitation, social programming, and several areas of family communication and leadership. At the same time, patterns in the feedback point to variability in staffing, clinical consistency, and facility oversight. Prospective residents and families would benefit from an in-person tour, review of the facility’s most recent inspection and citation history, and direct questions about staffing ratios, wound-care protocols, medication-management procedures, agency-staff usage, incident reporting and investigation processes, and after-hours security and reception coverage before making a placement decision.

Harrison Pavilion Rehabilitation & Nursing Care is a single-story nursing home in Cincinnati, Ohio, with 84 beds for skilled nursing care and long-term care. The building is wheelchair accessible and has safety features like sprinkler systems and handicap access, and you'll find both private and semi-private rooms-with private rooms ranging from $6,000 to $10,000 per month, and semi-private rooms from $5,000 to $8,000 per month-each offering comfortable bedding, good storage, and free cable TV, plus washers and dryers are provided for residents. The team here includes long-serving caregivers, certified wound physicians, licensed nurses available 24 hours a day, occupational therapists, and a director of maintenance, so residents get help with medical needs and personal care at all times, and those who stay for short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, or respite care all get careful attention.

The Pavilion's rehabilitation gym supports physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and individualized therapy programs cover things like stroke rehabilitation, pain management, cardiac recovery, and neurological rehab, plus bedside therapy's available for those who need it, and the staff handles things like IV therapy, tube feeding, wound care, medication management, and health status monitoring. Residents also get nurses who focus on wound healing, including negative pressure treatments, and the health team educates families on managing different diagnoses. The place handles intermediate nursing care, for folks who aren't having lots of sudden health changes but still need regular nursing help.

Meals are an important part of life here: there's a range of daily options-like sausage and gravy biscuits at breakfast or macaroni, ham and beans, and lasagna at lunch and dinner-and there are monthly resident-choice meals, seasonal cookouts, grill outs, and holiday dinners, with specialized diets available, and guests can have meals too. There's a big activity program with bingo, musical entertainment, card games, beading, religious services, bird watching, arts and crafts, trips to the salon, excursions, shopping trips, and weekly outings, along with events like coffee carts and home-style food activities, all held in common rooms or out in the landscaped courtyard and patio. Other physical amenities include a beauty salon, game and activity rooms, a dining room, fitness center, WiFi, kitchenettes, and guest parking, and residents can always change the text size or contrast on any provided computers, so people can enjoy easy access to reading and online resources.

Help with daily life-such as dressing, grooming, laundry, housekeeping, and dry cleaning-is part of the service, and personal care assistants are available when needed, while transportation services are offered for things like doctor appointments, dialysis, and community outings, plus bus line access makes it easier to get around. Support covers psychiatric and psychologist visits, guest meals, and supervision for cleaning and maintenance around the property. The focus at Harrison Pavilion is on individualized care in a warm, inviting space, aiming to encourage independence, creativity, personal growth, and confidence for all residents. The admissions team helps explain payment options and insurance, and there's a strong effort to make families feel comfortable and informed.
