    Caring staff, clean homelike facility

I've been very pleased with the caring, professional staff - nurses, aides and therapists were prompt, knowledgeable and compassionate, and social worker Crystal and activities director Billie kept us involved. The facility is clean, well-maintained and home-like with engaging activities, friendly residents and responsive management. Meals, therapy and overnight care gave us real peace of mind. I would recommend this place, with only a few small areas that could be improved.

    Summary of reviews

Florentine Gardens presents a mixed but distinctive profile. Many families and residents praise its strengths: a clean, attractive building and grounds, a strong therapy program that yields measurable rehabilitative gains, and an active, event-rich activities department. Specific staff roles — including social-work and activities leadership — received repeated positive mention, and several reviews describe compassionate nursing and aide care, reliable laundry and maintenance services, and an overall home-like environment. These strengths create an environment where rehabilitation, social engagement, and family involvement can be prominent features of the stay.

Clinical care quality shows important variability. Positive accounts highlight effective physical and occupational therapy and attentive nurses and aides who contribute to successful discharges and improved mobility. Conversely, other accounts raise concerns about medication-management lapses (including delays in receiving analgesics) and gaps in timely response to resident needs. Several reviewers described issues with absence or inaccessibility of call systems or delayed staff response, which were associated with safety concerns such as falls and unmet care needs. There are also comments indicating inconsistent vital-sign documentation and other recordkeeping irregularities.

Dining, housekeeping, and environmental upkeep are generally cited as strengths: meals are described as appealing, laundry is dependable, and common areas are well kept. However, there are also accounts indicating variability in meal delivery (cold or missed meals) and intermittent hygiene or incontinence-care shortcomings. This suggests that while facility-wide systems for food service and housekeeping function well for many residents, their reliability may fluctuate depending on staffing or shift.

The activities program is a clear asset. Families noted frequent celebrations, themed events (for example seasonal displays and competitions), animal-visit programming, and strong engagement from activity staff. These offerings contribute to resident morale and social connection and were frequently described as above average for comparable facilities.

Management and communication present mixed impressions. Some families describe visible, responsive leadership and proactive social-work advocacy that helped resolve issues and provide peace of mind. Other reviewers reported defensive or unhelpful interactions with administration, inconsistent visitation policies, and delayed discharge coordination. Night-shift accessibility and front-desk responsiveness were raised as recurring operational gaps. Taken together, these comments point to variability in managerial responsiveness and consistency of policy enforcement.

Overall pattern: many families experience attentive, rehabilitation-focused care in a clean, activity-rich setting staffed by caring individuals; nonetheless, there is a recurring pattern of operational inconsistency — particularly around staffing continuity, medication administration, response times, documentation, and certain aspects of basic care. Prospective residents and families considering Florentine Gardens may wish to tour the unit, meet therapy and social-work staff, confirm call-button and medication-administration protocols, ask about staffing levels by shift, and request documentation practices and escalation pathways for clinical concerns to better gauge how current operational practices align with their expectations and safety needs.

    About Florentine Gardens

Florentine Gardens is a skilled nursing facility with 80 beds, and you'll find it offers a wide range of care, including skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, memory care, adult care home, as well as short-term rehabilitation and long-term care for folks who need more support. The place has private rooms for rehab stays, and every room comes with modern things like private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, cable TV, telephones, high-speed internet, and satellite TV, so people can stay comfortable and in touch. You'll always see staff around, including English-speaking caregivers who provide 24-hour supervision and skilled nursing, help with daily activities, transfers, and bathing, along with a 12-16 hour nursing care system and a 24-hour call system for extra help whenever needed, which really matters if someone is frail or needs a lot of medical attention. Florentine Gardens has in-house therapies, like speech, occupational, and physical therapy, along with a rehabilitation department dedicated to helping people regain their strength and independence, and for those who need it, there's respite care, palliative care, memory care, and hospice support, so folks only have to move once, even if their health changes.

The facility is kept looking nice with recent renovations, and you'll see outdoor gardens, landscaped walking paths, and a courtyard where friends and family or residents can sit and enjoy a bit of sun or shade, and for days when the weather isn't ideal, there are plenty of indoor spaces like the activity rooms, a library, fitness center, movie theater, private dining rooms, and a community room, plus a game room for cards or board games. Florentine Gardens encourages social activities and offers community programs like movie nights, music and arts programs, community-sponsored events, and outdoor activities, and there's a Bistro that serves Starbucks coffee and Tazo teas, which gives folks a nice place to chat or have a cup. The staff helps with move-in coordination, provides housekeeping, laundry, transportation, parking, and there's even a concierge for extra peace of mind, while the in-room phone service, complimentary WiFi, and on-site beautician make day-to-day life a little easier. For food, families can gather in private dining rooms, and meal plans are individualized, so special diets or tastes get attention. The whole place is set up to feel home-like and safe, with personal care tailored to each resident's needs through regular medical assessments and working closely with families. Skilled clinical staff work as a team to make sure health, social, and even spiritual needs get met, and overall, Florentine Gardens focuses on comfort, support, and steady, compassionate care with both short-term and long-term stays available.
