    Compassionate staff, spotless rooms, welcoming

I placed my grandmother here and feel truly blessed - the staff are compassionate, attentive, and loving; Ashley and Clint went above and beyond with hands-on help and guardianship paperwork. Her private room is spotless with a recliner at no extra cost, meals are excellent, and hospice/Alzheimer's support is available 24/7. The remodeled facility has a warm, refreshing atmosphere, residents smile when staff arrive, and visiting as a family feels welcomed - I'm very pleased with the administration and team.

    Summary of reviews

The available reviews present a highly mixed picture of 24th Place. Many families and residents praise individual caregivers, night-shift staff, and hospice/Alzheimer’s teams for compassionate, attentive interactions and for creating a comfortable resident experience in private rooms. The facility also appears to have invested in physical upgrades in some areas, and several accounts describe helpful administrative support with admissions or paperwork as well as well-prepared meals on occasion.

Alongside those positive accounts, a number of operational concerns recur. Reviewers describe inconsistent personal-care practices (including missed or delayed bathing and assistance with toileting), long delays responding to call lights, and problems initiating or progressing physical therapy. Several accounts raise clinical concerns related to diabetes management and emergency monitoring, indicating gaps in timely clinical response and medication oversight that in some cases led to hospitalization.

Staffing and workplace culture emerged as another clear pattern. Families note high turnover and chronic understaffing that appear to strain daily care; conversely, many individual staff members are described as caring and dedicated. Reviews also raise issues around privacy and handling of residents’ belongings, and there are serious allegations of staff taking residents’ property. Some reviewers describe a punitive environment that discourages complaints and an administrative approach that can be dismissive or unresponsive.

Facility-level issues are inconsistent as well. While some rooms and common areas are described as clean and updated, other accounts cite sanitation concerns and odor issues in shared spaces and around incontinence care. Dining is described variably — from excellent meals to instances of undercooked or contaminated food and supply shortages. Visitation and activities have improved for some residents following renovations and infection-control relaxations, and several families note residents enjoying renewed visits.

Management and oversight are a recurring area of concern. Reviewers describe poor communication from administration, unexplained internal investigations or terminations, and state-level complaints with unclear follow-up. Given the mix of positive caregiver experiences and serious operational allegations, prospective residents and families should conduct an in-person assessment and ask specific, documented questions about staffing levels and turnover, bathing and toileting schedules, call-light response times, medication-management protocols (especially for diabetes), property-safekeeping procedures, food-safety practices, and the facility’s recent regulatory history and infection-control policies. Observing mealtime, visiting during shift changes, and requesting recent inspection or incident logs can help clarify whether the facility’s strengths or the operational concerns are most relevant to your loved one’s needs.

24th Place stands as a senior living community in Norman, Oklahoma, that offers many levels of care, from independent living and assisted living to skilled nursing and memory care, all in a single-story building, so you won't need to worry about stairs or elevators. The facility helps seniors by offering daily support for personal care, medication, meals, and activities, while also having specialized care units like the Arbor House Alzheimers Unit for those facing dementia or Alzheimer's. There are both private suites and shared apartments, so folks can pick what's comfortable, and each part of 24th Place tries to feel safe, warm, and welcoming, with compassionate staff around at all hours, including overnight and weekends, so residents aren't left alone when they need help.

For people who want to stay active in their retirement, there are fitness sessions, group activities, beauty and barber services, and community events, and those who need more support-maybe after a hospital stay-can join short-term rehabilitation programs, including wound care and therapy. Special units focus on challenging conditions or needs, such as neurological rehab, pain management, or dual diagnosis care, and 24th Place even helps with services aimed at veterans, teens, and people from different backgrounds including faith-based, LGBTQ+, and gender-specific options.

The dining options try to be both healthy and pleasant, with meals prepared daily by personal chefs, and the amenities include spots that feel like a resort-a spa, boutique comforts, and places to relax. For seniors who want privacy or just a change from a busy household, 24th Place offers quiet spaces and allows families to gather together in private. The whole community focuses on health, dignity, and supporting independence, whether someone is retired and active or needs extra help due to illness or memory loss, and everything sits right in the middle of Norman, in a mobile home park community, with Medicaid accepted.
