    Spacious clean caring assisted living

I toured and moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The community is spacious, immaculate, smells fresh, and feels homey; apartments are large and nicely decorated. Staff are friendly, caring, and responsive, meals are good, and activities/outings keep residents engaged-I'd recommend this as a solid, dependable assisted living option.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews indicate a facility with substantial strengths in day-to-day resident support, facility upkeep, and community atmosphere, paired with pockets of operational variability that prospective families should evaluate. Many families describe compassionate, hands-on caregiving and administrative responsiveness; others express stronger concerns about clinical oversight, communication, and billing. The pattern suggests a largely positive daily living experience for a significant portion of residents, with occasional lapses or single-site issues that produce strongly negative reactions.

Care and staff: Caregivers are frequently described as warm, attentive, and willing to go beyond basic duties. Several accounts highlight quick responses to needs, regular vital monitoring, and staff familiarity with residents’ routines. At the same time, there are more critical accounts that describe inconsistent clinical follow-through (including medication and oxygen-management issues) and episodes of staffing instability or turnover. These mixed observations point to generally good caregiving culture, with variability in clinical oversight and staffing continuity by shift or unit.

Dining: Dining is a mixed area. Many residents and families praise the availability of three meals a day, snacks, and a generally homey dining environment; some residents described high-quality, enjoyable meals. However, there are consistent operational complaints about meal temperature control, menu inconsistency, and occasional food-quality concerns. Families considering this community should ask for current sample menus, observe meal service, and confirm how the kitchen handles food-temperature consistency and special-diet needs.

Activities and social life: The community offers a range of activities (exercise classes, bingo, arts and crafts, Bible study, outings, and family nights) and on-site amenities such as a salon, library, and computer access. Many residents report improved quality of life and social engagement. That said, a subset of families found activity options limited for specific residents, particularly in memory-care programming, and COVID-era restrictions were cited as having reduced programming at times. Prospective residents should review current activity calendars and memory-care programming specifics.

Facilities and environment: The property is commonly described as clean, well-decorated, and maintained, with spacious apartments and pleasant common areas including a courtyard and garden patio. Maintenance response is characterized as prompt. Negative notes include odor concerns in certain back-area spaces, older sections that show their age, and ongoing renovations that have required temporary relocations. Visitors should tour the precise unit and common areas that would be used by their loved one to confirm condition and smell/air quality.

Management, safety, and administration: Leadership is frequently praised for responsiveness, visible engagement, and addressing concerns quickly. Financial accessibility and negotiated pricing are cited positively. At the same time, there are serious operational concerns to investigate: gaps in family communication, billing transparency issues (charges for services or meals not delivered), and reports describing management changes and staffing turnover. There are also mentions of site-safety vulnerabilities and a small number of allegations involving theft and financial misconduct; these are significant enough to warrant direct discussion with administration and review of contracts, incident logs, and any regulatory findings.

Recommendation for prospective families: Wickshire Senior Living Oklahoma City demonstrates many of the qualities families seek — compassionate staff, a clean and homelike environment, active programming, and affordability. However, variability in clinical oversight, dining consistency, communication, and a few safety/financial concerns mean that an individualized assessment is important. Before committing, families should request a current activity calendar and menu, meet clinical staff to discuss medication and oxygen protocols, review sample contracts and billing practices, tour the intended unit and back-of-house areas, and ask about recent staffing turnover and how renovation-related moves will be handled.
