    Friendly staff beautiful homes amenities

I'm very happy with Shawnee Ridge. The staff - from the front desk to Kristina, Melissa and especially Tom - are angels: friendly, caring, and quick to address any issue. Beautiful townhomes and views of the Delaware Water Gap, terrific amenities, exercise classes, day trips and an attentive office team make this a wonderful place for my in-laws.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment about Shawnee Ridge at University Park is predominantly positive, with reviewers emphasizing strong onsite amenities, an active social program, and a generally well-kept campus. Residents and family members frequently highlight organized group activities, exercise classes, and day-trip programming as meaningful features that support social engagement. The physical setting — including attractive town homes, maintained grounds, and a notable view of the Delaware Water Gap — is a recurring strength.

Care and staff performance are described favorably in multiple accounts. Reviewers characterize staff as caring and attentive to residents' needs, and they single out front-desk personnel and specific maintenance staff for exceptional customer service and responsiveness. The facility's office and maintenance teams receive repeated praise for timely issue resolution and continuity of service; this contributes to an impression of operational reliability in day-to-day living needs.

Feedback on facilities and environmental conditions is mixed. Many remarks praise cleanliness and visible disinfecting practices, yet a subset of comments point to inconsistencies in the appearance and upkeep of common areas. Some reviewers also mention a detectable disinfectant odor in shared spaces, which may affect comfort for certain residents. The built environment and grounds are otherwise viewed as attractive and well-maintained, particularly the private town-home units.

Activity programming is generally viewed as a strength, but there are indications that availability or perceived vibrancy of social offerings can vary among residents. While some describe the calendar as lively and engaging, others indicate that they feel there is "not much happening," suggesting uneven participation or alignment with resident interests. Dining quality is not a prominent theme in the available comments and would benefit from further direct evaluation.

Management and operational patterns show responsiveness in routine maintenance and customer-service interactions, with positive recognition of individual staff members. Notable patterns for prospective residents and families to consider are the strong emphasis on social activities and the facility's scenic, well-kept setting, alongside occasional variability in common-area upkeep, activity engagement, and sensory environment in shared spaces. A visit focused on common areas, program schedules, and an opportunity to speak with current residents would help clarify fit for individual needs.

About Shawnee Ridge at University Park, LLC

Shawnee Ridge at University Park, LLC sits in East Stroudsburg, PA, on a quiet piece of land at the gateway to the Pocono Mountains, with views of the Delaware Water Gap that are always pleasant to wake up to, and you get a sense of seclusion, but you're still only a few minutes from the Interstate, Pocono Medical Center, as well as shops, restaurants, and doctor's offices, which is helpful. This place is for residents age 55 and older who are looking for independent or supportive living, with a range of care levels all in one spot, so you don't need to worry about moving again if your health needs change, and it works as a continuing care retirement community, or CCRC.

The community has apartments and townhomes, and people can have privacy and independence in both, with floor plans of different sizes on display through their gallery. Residents can own their homes with prices starting at $160,000, and the units require a refundable 10% deposit to reserve, along with a $5,000 waiting list fee that's also refundable under certain rules, and some resale refunds can reach up to 70% of a purchase price, but the occupancy rights don't transfer if someone moves out. They don't do rentals, section 8, or affordable housing, so you'd want to keep that in mind.

It's a pet-friendly community, allowing up to two pets in townhomes and cats in apartments, but dogs must stay under 45 pounds, which makes it more manageable, and the grounds are well-kept with landscaping and snow removal handled by staff, plus outside home maintenance and exterior exterminating services are included, though inside exterminating would come out of the resident's own pocket. Utility services like water, sewer, and trash removal are part of the package, with Wi-Fi and a medical alert system in place and emergency maintenance available around the clock if a leak happens or heat goes out. Security runs steady with a 24-hour emergency response system.

Independent living comes with activity options like day trips, informational talks, social gatherings, group parties, and philanthropies, as well as weekly planned activities and access to the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort, which means free golf for those who enjoy it. Residents have services like optional daily living help, transportation, and meals when needed, and support is personalized, focusing on helping folks stay as independent as possible. When needed, assisted living offers more support with tasks, medication management, personal care, and meals. Round-the-clock medical care is available, including rehab and wound care, and there's a secure environment for those with Alzheimer's and other memory challenges, where activities focus on memory skills and 24-hour supervision stays in place for safety. The community stays licensed and up to date, according to the review group that checks, so things keep running properly.

Residents enjoy life without the need for yard work or home repairs, and many find comfort in the way the community is both close to needed local spots and set apart in peaceful surroundings, which many people in that age group say they value, especially when being able to keep a pet or have privacy makes the days feel a little better.
