    Caring staff, private airy cottages

I'm very happy with this small, dog-friendly community - private, light and airy cottages with a good-sized bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchenette and in-unit washer/dryer. The staff, residents and director are warm and attentive, maintenance and advisors respond quickly, meals and activities (yoga, deliveries, etc.) keep things comfortable, and my loved one is well cared for. I would definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Friends Village, Styer Campus, delivers a largely positive experience in caregiver attentiveness, maintenance responsiveness, and community atmosphere. Reviewers emphasize a helpful, kind staff and leadership team, a small-community feel, and strong staff–family communication. Many families report satisfaction with the day-to-day care and with staff responsiveness to questions and maintenance requests.

Care and staff: Care quality and staff conduct are cited as strong points. Staff are described as attentive, respectful, and quick to respond to resident needs and maintenance issues. Leadership, including the director and senior advisor, is frequently described as friendly and informative. These strengths appear to contribute to high family and resident satisfaction in areas related to personal care and routine problem resolution.

Dining and housing: The campus offers a mix of unit types, including renovated apartments with modern kitchens and in-unit laundry, and private cottage-style homes. Dining arrangements vary by housing type; some units receive three meals daily with choices, while other configurations provide fewer planned meals and rely on external kitchen spaces. Meal delivery and newspaper-to-door services were implemented effectively during COVID lockdowns, which reviewers note positively. Prospective residents should confirm which meal service applies to the specific housing option they are considering.

Activities and community life: The community is characterized as small and social, with a range of activities such as yoga and other programming returning after pandemic interruptions. Reviewers appreciate the friendly resident population and opportunities for engagement. The campus atmosphere is described as light, airy, and comfortable, with outdoor patios available in some cottages.

Facilities and management patterns: A recurring operational theme is the contrast between updated units and older buildings that still need modernization. While some apartments and cottages have been renovated, other structures are described as dated and in need of further investment. Several reviewers expressed concern about fee increases that have not been matched by visible improvements in services or common-area upkeep. Additional operational issues include intermittent management responsiveness in certain situations and occasional Wi‑Fi/connectivity problems. Directional signage and some smaller fixes have been implemented, but prospective residents should evaluate the schedule and scope of planned capital improvements.

Notable patterns and practical advice: Reviewers consistently praise the people who work and live at the campus, but raise facility-level concerns about aging infrastructure, fee trajectory, and variability in dining depending on unit type. When considering Friends Village, Styer Campus, prospective residents and families should ask specific questions about upcoming renovation timelines, the exact meal plan tied to a given unit, current monthly fee structures and what they cover, Wi‑Fi reliability, and typical maintenance response times. A tour focused on both renovated units and older buildings will help assess fit between expectations and the campus’s mix of updated and dated spaces.
