    Caring staff and excellent amenities

I've been very pleased since moving in - caring, friendly staff who go out of their way, prompt maintenance, and 24-hour support make me feel safe and well looked-after. The apartments are spacious and well-equipped, the building is clean and beautifully decorated, and the food and dining service are consistently excellent. Daily activities, live entertainment, outings and fitness options keep me engaged, and the community really feels like family. Overall a wonderful, good-value place to live with only minor quibbles.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: South Jordan View presents as a well-appointed, resort-style senior living community with a broad range of amenities and a strong emphasis on social engagement. Many residents and family members describe a warm, family-like atmosphere supported by a visible concierge presence, an active lifestyle program, and numerous on-site conveniences (theater, salon, pharmacy, fitness facilities, transportation). Apartments are frequently described as spacious and comfortable, with full kitchens and in-unit laundry that support independent living.

Care and staff: Staff interactions are consistently highlighted as a major strength. Reviewers commonly describe caring, attentive front-desk and caregiving personnel, helpful concierge services, and an activity team that goes beyond expectations to involve residents. The community operates 24/7 staffing and offers responsive maintenance and emergency-alert systems, which many families found reassuring. At the same time, reviewers raised concerns about staffing stability in specific service areas (notably culinary and housekeeping), which some described as contributing to variability in service levels and resident experience.

Dining and food service: Dining is a mixed area. Many residents praise the dining room, personalized menu options, and special offerings (dairy-free options, Sunday dinners, homemade soups, and the availability of snacks and ice cream). The activity of customizing meals and accommodating dietary needs is noted positively. Conversely, there are recurring operational concerns related to the kitchen: inconsistent meal quality, menu changes tied to personnel shifts, and specific food-safety and sanitation lapses described by reviewers. These concerns point to weaknesses in kitchen oversight, labeling/temperature-control practices, and consistency of culinary leadership rather than a uniform absence of good meals.

Activities and social life: Programming is a clear strength. The community offers a wide variety of activities — from exercise classes, arts and crafts, and games to live music, themed events, and frequent off-site outings. The presence of a sizable theater, frequent entertainers, and an active social calendar supports residents’ ongoing engagement and social connection. Many reviewers credit the activities team with improving quality of life and fostering new friendships.

Facilities and maintenance: The property’s amenities and grounds are described positively for aesthetic quality and convenience. However, several comments point to gaps in preventive maintenance and infrastructure upkeep (examples include appliance and system repairs, electrical and plumbing issues, and isolated structural events). These accounts suggest unevenness in facility maintenance planning and execution rather than uniformly poor facilities. Prospective residents should confirm the property’s recent maintenance history and ongoing capital plans during a visit.

Management and patterns: Management and front-line staff are often described as helpful and accommodating, and the community’s culture appears intentionally social and service-oriented. That said, some reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with how complaints or concerns were handled, describing a sense that feedback was not always welcome or fully addressed. There are also occasional notes about corporate-level policies that limit certain amenities. Cost was raised by a few as a barrier, with some residents feeling the price may not match expectations in areas where service variability occurs.

Recommendation for prospective residents: South Jordan View is likely a strong fit for older adults who prioritize an active social life, on-site conveniences, and engaging staff. Prospective residents and families should tour the dining facilities, ask about current kitchen leadership and food-safety protocols, request recent maintenance records and capital-project plans, and discuss staffing stability in housekeeping and culinary services. Clarifying contract terms and any corporate amenity policies (and confirming current pricing) will help set expectations around cost and services.

About South Jordan View Retirement Community

South Jordan View Retirement Community sits at 11352 S Redwood Rd, South Jordan, UT, in a spot right by the Oquirrh Mountains, so you get a view of the hills and the peace of some nature nearby, and folks say it's a quiet and calm place most days, which suits a lot of people just fine, and they offer a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home care, respite care, and services meant for long-term needs, so it works for seniors needing a little or a lot of support, even for those living with Alzheimer's or needing more medical help. You'll find a good list of amenities here-things like devotionals, indoor and outdoor spaces for visiting and relaxing, on-site beautician services, and regular activities that get folks out for shopping, museums, doctor visits, or just socializing over meals or games in shared rooms like their theater, library, arcade, and billiards room; they even have a lounge with a bar, fitness and spa rooms, and a business center, so everyone can find a way to stay busy and feel at home. Meals come three times a day with their Signature Freedom Dining, and staff will bring food to your place if you're not feeling up to eating in the main hall, and snacks are always on hand in the chef's pantry; you also get full kitchens in the apartments with window coverings and climate controls, plus a range of floor plans: studio, one, two, or three-bedroom setups, which means there's probably a fit for most needs.

If you like outdoor living, you'll have access to trails and nearby golfing and fishing, and their all-inclusive services, like housekeeping and maintenance, make it so you don't have to worry much about chores, and you'll see features like 24/7 emergency alert stations, on-site managers, and round-the-clock concierge, which gives a sense of extra safety and help if something comes up late at night or when you need a quick hand. Pets are welcome too, without any extra charges, which is good news for animal lovers who aren't ready to give up a familiar friend, and the community goes the extra mile with things like transportation for errands and outings, help with retirement and caregiving resources, and support on topics like insurance, Medicare, legal planning, and Social Security-sometimes folks find all that paperwork harder to understand than it ought to be, so having help close by matters.

For people facing memory issues or needing more structure, there's a dedicated memory care area with specialized staff who focus on routines and activities to keep everyone comfortable and as independent as possible; plus, the support extends to families, offering advice on planning, options, and even local advisors at no cost to the families, as partner communities cover the service fees only when someone moves in, taking some pressure off decision-making. Social interaction gets a lot of attention too, with roomy spaces for meals, happy hour, games, teatime, and watching sports or movies together, and there's always something planned on the calendar thanks to their Lifestyle Director, so life never feels stale or repetitive.

The building's designed for safety and comfort, and the grounds are secure, with modern features, accessible apartments, climate controls, and all appliances full-sized, not those little hotel ones, so residents can cook if they want to, and all these things together help create a comfortable, caring home that manages to feel active without feeling overwhelming. People working and living here are described as helpful and friendly, and reviews reflect that, hitting a 5-star average with almost all feedback checked for accuracy, so there's a good chance what you read matches what you get in person. Pricing details aren't published, so you'll need to ask directly for those, but most other answers are easy to find, and with everything aimed at supporting health, well-being, and a connection to the community and family, South Jordan View Retirement Community seems to offer a steady, dependable place for seniors who want comfort, company, and choices as their needs change.
