    Kind, attentive staff; cozy home

I placed my mom here and have been very pleased - the staff are kind, attentive and personable, the community is clean, cozy and home-like, and meals and activities (including regular outings) keep residents engaged. The transition was smooth, communication is prompt, and the location is convenient for visits. I recommend a visit to see if it's the right fit.

    Summary of reviews

Trustwell Living at Kent Place is described overall as a small, home-like assisted living community with a strong emphasis on personal relationships and social programming. Many reviewers highlight the facility's intimate scale, single-story accessible layout, interior courtyard/garden, and apartment-style rooms as contributors to a comfortable, residential feel. The site’s on-site amenities — including a salon, activities room, laundry, and scheduled transportation — support day-to-day independence and family visitation.

Care quality and staff performance are recurring strengths in the reviews. Families and residents frequently characterize caregivers, med aides, and nursing staff as compassionate, attentive, and personable; several reviews single out individual staff for exemplary service. Low staff turnover and engaged leadership are credited with supporting continuity of care and a family-like atmosphere. At the same time, reviewers indicate limits to the community’s clinical capacity: staffing and resources are not consistently adequate for high-acuity or bedridden residents, and there are occasional comments about inconsistent nursing reliability. Prospective residents with significant medical or transfer needs should verify clinical staffing levels and transfer protocols.

Dining and food service are often praised for restaurant-style presentation, menu variety, and personalization; the chef’s engagement with residents and special events are noted positively. However, there are also reports of variability in food quality and service timeliness, including occasional long waits at meals. Prospective families may wish to sample a meal during a tour and ask about peak service routines and meal staffing.

The community’s activities program is a pronounced asset: reviewers describe an active calendar that includes board games, crafts, chair exercise, regular outings (e.g., zoo, museums, shopping, fishing), inter-community events, and entertainment. These offerings contribute to visible social engagement and resident satisfaction. A minority of comments indicate that activity delivery can be inconsistent with the published calendar and that the small facility size can limit the breadth of programming; confirming current weekly schedules during a visit is advisable.

Facility upkeep and cleanliness receive generally positive comments; many reviewers describe a well-maintained, warmly decorated environment. A few isolated notes point to housekeeping follow-through issues in individual rooms. Accessibility and safety are supported by the single-level design and easy-to-navigate interior layout.

Management and administrative practices show mixed perceptions. Strengths include responsive front-line staff, active resident council meetings that incorporate family input, and staff who go beyond routine tasks to assist families. Concerns cited include inconsistent administrative communication, billing and accounting practices (overcharges, delayed credits, and questions about miscellaneous fees), morale and leadership consistency, and complaints about grievance resolution processes. Isolated but serious allegations about administrative actions (including contested resident relocations) appear in the record; these suggest prospective families should ask specifically about grievance procedures, eviction policies, and examples of how disputes are resolved.

Financial and access policies are operational considerations: reviewers note restrictions on certain payment sources and an upfront community-fee structure that has created access barriers for some applicants. The facility also does not accept some payer types, which may affect eligibility for certain residents.

Bottom line: Kent Place appears to offer a warm, small-community environment with engaged staff, active programming, and generally strong day-to-day care for typical assisted‑living needs. Families considering the community should validate clinical staffing for higher-acuity needs, review billing and payment policies in writing, confirm activity schedules, and discuss the facility’s grievance and resident-relocation policies during an in-person tour.

About Trustwell Living at Kent Place

Trustwell Living at Kent Place sits as part of the Options for Seniors organization, and you'll find it's got a pretty clear purpose, focusing on defined housing and care for older adults, with a good mix of choices whether someone's looking for independent living, assisted living, or memory care. The facility itself has 42 licensed beds, and offers both studio and one-bedroom renovated apartments, each with in-home kitchenettes and emergency call systems that help everyone feel safe. There's a full-time registered nurse on staff around the clock to make sure medical needs get attention, so whether it's help with medication or just daily tasks, people get what suits their situation. Each resident gets a personalized care plan, and staff offer support as needed-some folks use respite care, and others stick with long-term assisted living.

They keep the place fairly busy, too, with a full calendar that doesn't stop on weekends, so residents have plenty to do, like exercise classes, arts and crafts, bingo, tai chi, dances, weekly outings, blackjack, trivia, bible study, or even just watching Monday night football together, and if someone wants something simple like an ice cream social or a quieter game of cards, that's on the agenda as well. The dining room serves meals in a community setting, and for people who want privacy or a snack, the kitchenettes in the apartments are handy. If folks like having pets, they're welcome, and transportation keeps residents connected to the outside community for organized outings. Kent Place works hard to keep things comfortable and home-like, with weekly housekeeping and laundry services available. The Executive Director, Me'gan Calvin, oversees everything, aiming to create a cheerful and welcoming environment where laughter and dignity carry the day. There's an effort to promote well-being at every stage, and Trustwell Living at Kent Place covers a good range of services while keeping things centered on each individual.
