    Warm, professional, attentive home community

I toured and moved my mom in after an urgent need and I'm very pleased. The staff are genuinely kind, professional, and attentive - they accommodated special meals, took her to appointments, and helped her make friends quickly. The small, home-like community is clean, safe, and socially active (activities, church, outings, games), meals are personalized, rooms private, and communication is excellent. I would recommend this warm, well-run place.

    Summary of reviews

Trustwell Living at Evergreen Place presents as a small, single-story assisted-living community with many attributes families find desirable: a home-like atmosphere, private apartments with kitchenettes and accessible bathrooms, enclosed outdoor spaces, and a compact layout that is easy to navigate. Reviewers consistently praise direct-care staff and several administrative personnel as warm, compassionate, and willing to provide personalized attention. Routine services such as housekeeping, laundry, transportation, an on-site salon, and the ability to accommodate special dietary needs are commonly cited strengths, as are varied social offerings (movie nights, bus outings, sewing, games, church services and holiday events) that help foster community connections.

At the same time, a clear pattern of operational concerns appears across the reviews. Staffing instability and turnover are recurring themes and are linked to delays in responding to call lights and in some cases difficulty meeting two-person assist needs. Relatedly, reviewers describe uneven performance in medication administration and refill management, with isolated lapses in documentation and follow-through. Families also expressed frustration with intake and ongoing communication from management, including unclear explanations of acuity-based pricing, mid-stay price increases, and disputed charges. There are multiple mentions of limited payer acceptance (Medicaid not accepted) and concerns about billing transparency that prospective residents should clarify prior to move-in.

Dining and programming receive mixed feedback. Many residents enjoy personalized meal choices and appreciate accommodations for special diets, and some reviewers commend the chef and mealtime atmosphere. However, others note variability in food quality, occasional reheated meals, and inconsistent meal-service practices. Activity programming is described as robust and engaging by many, but some families say residents experienced boredom or lower activity frequency—suggesting variability in program delivery or scheduling.

Facility condition and infection control also show mixed signals. Numerous comments highlight clean, sunny common areas and a well-maintained courtyard, and maintenance responsiveness is praised in several accounts. Conversely, there are reports pointing to aging infrastructure (roof leaks, need for cosmetic updates, limited air conditioning in some units) and isolated sanitation or infection-control issues; one review cites an infection-control incident that families characterized as mishandled. These represent operational risks that merit direct inquiry during a tour (cleaning protocols, outbreak procedures, mattress and room turnover practices, and pest-control/housekeeping standards).

Overall, Evergreen Place has many qualities families seek in a smaller assisted-living setting—personalized care, approachable staff, and a compact, community-oriented environment. The most significant patterns to investigate further are staffing stability and responsiveness, medication and sanitation controls, clarity on pricing and payer acceptance, and consistency of dining and activity programming. Prospective residents and families should schedule a visit, request current staffing ratios and turnover data, review sample menus and activity calendars, tour several apartments (including less-occupied units), and obtain written explanations of billing, acuity scoring, and infection-control policies before making a decision.
