    Caring staff, beautiful facility, superb

I moved my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff are genuinely caring and welcoming, the facility is bright, clean, and has a beautiful courtyard with well-kept outdoor space and large, airy apartments. Meals are restaurant-quality, activities are engaging, and onsite care options (memory, assisted, rehab, clinic) give me confidence - I recommend a tour.

    Summary of reviews

Peoples Senior Living elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many reviewers describe a caring, communal atmosphere: staff who are warm and attentive, large bright apartments, ample common space and gardens, and a robust set of activities that include exercise classes, live music, bingo, and special events. The community model and onsite clinical resources (an onsite primary-care clinic and rehabilitation services) receive praise, as do recent renovations and a visible effort to improve the environment. For prospective residents who prioritize social engagement, restaurant-style dining, and on-site medical access, reviewers often characterize the community positively.

Care quality and safety are uneven across accounts. Several reviewers praised individualized care plans, attentive nurses, and competent caregiving; others described concerning clinical gaps such as missed medication refills, incomplete documentation of medical needs, delayed assessment after falls, and emergency-communication lapses. These patterns suggest variability in clinical processes and incident response rather than a single uniform standard of care. Memory-care services are in place and described as secure, but there are also reports of falls and other safety events that families should probe during a tour.

Staff and culture are similarly mixed. Numerous reviews emphasize genuinely compassionate, helpful staff and administrators who go above and beyond; conversely, other comments point to understaffing, high turnover, and periods when front-desk coverage or supervisory presence is limited. There are specific, serious allegations in the record — including theft of resident funds and a sexual-assault allegation — which indicate the need for careful vetting of staff-screening and oversight procedures.

Dining and activities receive both high praise and criticism. Some residents and families describe the food as excellent and restaurant-quality, with assigned dining tables that foster socialization; others report poor or inconsistent meal quality. Activity offerings appear robust overall, but some reviewers found the programming not age-appropriate or insufficiently varied for highly active residents. Participation levels also vary by unit and time of day.

Facilities range from renovated, bright memory-care areas to older, less-updated apartments. Positive comments highlight spacious, well-lit units and attractive outdoor spaces; negative comments point to uneven room maintenance, sanitation concerns in specific areas, and odor or cleanliness issues. Location and outdoor space are frequently noted as strengths, while some interior units are described as dated.

Management and operations show clear areas for improvement. Common themes include inconsistent communication with families about billing and clinical events, deposit and billing disputes, marketing or leasing staff providing inaccurate information, and variable follow-through on promised upgrades. Prospective residents should obtain written documentation about deposits, billing, what services are included, staffing ratios, emergency protocols, medication administration procedures, and policies on security and after-hours coverage.

In summary, Peoples Senior Living offers many attributes that appeal to families seeking social engagement, onsite clinical access, and a community-oriented setting. At the same time, the facility displays recurring operational weaknesses — notably inconsistent staffing, clinical-process gaps, sanitation and maintenance variability, and breakdowns in billing and communication — and a small number of serious misconduct allegations that warrant direct inquiry. Families considering this community should tour multiple apartment types, speak with clinical and administrative leaders about staffing and incident protocols, review recent inspection or licensing records, and request clear, written terms on deposits, billing, and included services before making a placement decision.

    About Peoples Senior Living

Peoples Senior Living is run by Peoples Senior Living LLC and offers a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, and adult day health services in a bright and modern community that feels both cozy and welcoming, with spacious one and two bedroom apartments, including studios with shared baths, and big common areas with comfortable seating where folks can enjoy each other's company or join in on daily activities planned by a full-time activity director, and people always talk about the large, beautiful courtyard and garden spaces that are great for fresh air or quiet time, especially with the Portland Ave Nursery nearby, and the facility even welcomes pets, so dogs and cats can join their owners, and there's pet care and therapy, along with horticulture therapy for those who like gardening or being close to nature. The community stays active with daily calendars full of social, educational, and entertaining events, and residents enjoy meals in an elegant dining room prepared by an executive chef and kitchen team, which means there's always a focus on good food and the simple pleasure of gathering at mealtime, and those who need it get medication support, diabetes care, incontinence care, and help with daily activities-from simple reminders to full assistance, including transfers and mechanical lifts, while nurses, nurse assistants, and therapists are there around the clock, and folks have access to services from visiting physical, occupational, speech therapists, and a podiatrist. People with Alzheimer's or dementia have a secured, purpose-built section just for them, with bracelets to prevent wandering and activities made to help keep their minds active, and staff are specially trained to help those who may get confused or sometimes have tough behaviors, including those who might act out, plus the behavioral care services are right there when needed, and families appreciate the safe, supportive setting where devotionals, beautician services, full tubs, and on-site and off-site outings are available, so whether a resident wants to take part in group events, enjoy peaceful time outside, or spend the day with furry friends, there's always a choice, and staff work to keep everyone involved, comfortable, and as independent as they can be, while caregivers can stay connected and included in their loved one's care. The place is close to shopping, trails, green spaces, and fitness centers, so residents don't feel cut off, and with free transportation and parking, people can get out or visit without much fuss, and respite and hospice care can be arranged when families need extra help. Peoples Senior Living isn't fancy in its talk but keeps its focus on good care, honest support, and helping every resident find a sense of belonging, purpose, and well-being in daily life. The place might not have everything, but it does try to make senior living feel like a new chapter that's meaningful and safe.
