    Friendly staff safe homelike environment

I moved in easily and feel safe and well cared for - staff are friendly, patient, and treat me with dignity and respect. The small, homelike setting is clean and comfortable with a cozy fireplace, outdoor walks, and bingo a few times a week. Therapy continuity and a helpful PT made a big difference, meals are homemade and tasty (in-room dining available), and communication with my family has been excellent - I would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Gardenview is consistently described as a small, homelike assisted living with strengths in personalized attention, dining, and therapy continuity. Many families and residents appreciate the facility's intimate scale, comfortable common spaces (including outdoor walking areas and a fireplace), an in‑room dining option, and a general sense of safety. Positive remarks frequently cite friendly, respectful staff interactions, clear family communication, an easy move‑in process, and helpful physical-therapy services that connect well with prior rehab care.

Care quality appears mixed. Reviewers praised staff who went beyond basic expectations and spoke of dignity and respectful treatment for residents; helpful physical therapy and continuity from rehab were noted as distinct strengths. Counterbalancing this, there are recurring operational concerns: reviewers noted medication‑administration issues and gaps in housekeeping consistency. Those patterns suggest the facility may need to strengthen clinical controls and its environmental maintenance routines to ensure consistent day‑to‑day care for all residents.

Staffing and management present a mixed picture. Many comments praise individual caregivers for patience and compassion, but several comments raise concerns about staffing levels, turnover, and variability in staff conduct or tone. There are also indications of management oversight gaps and moments when leadership was perceived as insufficiently involved in resolving resident issues. These elements together suggest that staffing stability and visible managerial engagement would be important topics to address when evaluating placement.

Dining and activities are generally seen as positives with caveats. Meals are described as homemade with variety and frequent dessert offerings; some reviewers recommended moderating dessert frequency. The facility provides in‑room dining and reported good substitutions when necessary. Activity programming has been limited by infection‑control measures, with bingo, outdoor walks, and small group gatherings reported; prospective families should confirm current activity schedules and any pandemic-related restrictions.

Facility condition is characterized as comfortable and homelike by several reviewers, though there are intermittent sanitation and room‑cleaning concerns noted. Given the mix of praise and operational criticisms, prospective residents and families would be advised to tour rooms and common areas, ask about housekeeping schedules, review medication‑administration protocols and staffing ratios, meet clinical leadership, and request recent inspection or staffing records. Those steps can help determine whether Gardenview's noted personal strengths align with the facility's operational consistency and your care expectations.

    About Gardenview Assisted Living

Gardenview Assisted Living is a small, homey place with a focus on assisted living, memory care, independent living, and short-term rehab, set across several locations in Menasha, Wisconsin, like 1700 and 1712 Midway Road and 1050 Fountain Way, and most folks moving in find the community to be warm and welcoming, with a staff that's there twenty-four hours a day to help with things like bathing, dressing, medication, and mobility-sometimes even helping folks get up or move from a bed to a wheelchair, and there's always someone close by for emergencies. There's a mix of room sizes, including studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-bedroom options, and every private room has things like a half bath, cable TV, a phone, and sometimes even a fridge and microwave, so people can have a bit of independence if they want it, and the rooms can be fully furnished if needed. The place is designed for ease of care, with wheelchair accessible showers, lots of safety features like emergency alert systems, and their areas are all handicap friendly with reliable Wi-Fi.

Meals are a big part of daily life here, with a dietician planning the menu so everyone gets three meals a day and snacks, with food that fits a range of needs, like allergies or diabetes, plus guest meals for visiting family and an easy dining room for folks to gather and talk. The activity director stays busy planning trips on a private coach, setting up games, crafts, movie nights, and devotional services so residents aren't bored or lonely, and there's an effort to get folks outside in the fresh air with walking paths, enclosed courtyards, landscaped gardens, patios, a gazebo, fountains, and even a bit of nature to look at or sit by on a quiet afternoon. Inside, there's salon service, social spaces, and spots for hobbies or family visits, as well as basic help with laundry, cleaning, and move-in coordination, though sometimes folks say that on weekends, things get a bit stretched with staff and there could be a wait for help or cleaning in the rooms.

Care at Gardenview Assisted Living covers a lot, from memory support for those with dementia or milder cognitive troubles to short-term rehab if someone needs to get back on their feet, and longer-term help for those needing daily care, and their staff can help monitor medical needs like insulin, coordinate with audiologists, dentists, podiatrists, and arrange mobile imaging if required, plus they allow for home care and hospice services and have a hospice waiver. For some, pet therapy is available, and for those who want deeper spiritual support, the community provides onsite devotional services. The size of Gardenview means most residents and families know the staff pretty well, and communication tends to be good, although sometimes care can be slower when there are fewer caregivers, especially on the weekends or if things get busy. There are clear details about how to move in, including filling out an application, and the facility works with various payment plans, taking private pay, social security, veterans benefits, and private insurance, charging fees based on the level of care needed, whether for respite, community costs, or long-term support.

Residents get a blend of privacy and community in an intimate setting, and the overall feeling is one of steadiness and care, rather than flashiness or luxury, which suits many folks who value comfort, familiar faces, and the peace of mind that comes with having staff on hand around the clock and plenty to do inside and out. The facility sits close to shops and local amenities, plus they're next to Oakridge Gardens Rehabilitation & Memory Center if additional skilled nursing or rehab is needed. Gardenview Assisted Living is a solid choice for seniors or families looking for basic but reliable care, a smaller environment where their loved ones are known by name, and the small, simple details of daily life-like meals, gardens, and friendly chats with caregivers-are given proper attention, even if sometimes there are challenges with staffing or the pace of service.
