    Lovely grounds expensive inconsistent care

I toured and moved a loved one here - the grounds, apartments and activities are lovely, many staff are warm and rehab/therapy is excellent. But it's expensive, staffing and management are inconsistent (slow responses, maintenance delays, spotty care/communication), and food/care quality can vary by unit. If you can afford it and thoroughly vet staffing and memory/assisted care, it can be great; otherwise I'd proceed with caution.

    About Evergreen Retirement Community

Evergreen Retirement Community sits on a big, park-like 63-acre property in Cincinnati, Ohio, where residents have plenty of space to walk, garden, and watch wildlife, and you'll find things like a putting green, tranquil courtyards with fountains, raised gardening beds, and a greenhouse. The apartments come in different sizes, including one and two-bedroom units, and some country cottages have wood-burning fireplaces, walk-in closets, balconies, and individually controlled heating and air conditioning, plus a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Folks can have their pets with them, since the community is pet-friendly, and there's always complimentary WiFi and all utilities included in the service package.

The common areas are set up for comfort, with cozy libraries filled with books and armchairs, rooms with fireplaces, a TV lounge, elegant dining rooms with big windows, bistros, bars, movie theaters, a billiards lounge, and even a piano lounge. There's also a business center with free WiFi, arts and crafts studios, game rooms, and meeting spaces. For people who like to stay active, there's an outdoor pool, fitness center, spa, tennis courts, walking paths both inside and outside, and a rehabilitation gym, plus raised gardening beds and lawn bowling courts, so nobody feels stuck inside. When folks don't want to cook, they can have chef-prepared meals in a restaurant-style dining room, private dining rooms for family visits, or bistro snacks, and there's always room service or guest meal options too, with special programs for different dietary needs, and a café for casual bites and coffee.

The care services cover a wide range, from independent living for people who want their own space and do things on their own, to assisted living where staff can help with bathing, dressing, getting around, and taking medicine, plus there's skilled nursing for those who need more medical help, and memory care for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with special attention and safety features. There's always registered nursing staff on duty, 24-hour emergency call systems, home care agency services, medication reminders, and medical supervision, as well as wellness monitoring. For rehabilitation, there are physical, occupational, and speech therapies on-site with special rooms for exercises and care programs. If someone needs hospice, those services are available too. The staff support people with laundry, regular housekeeping, daily living assistance, transportation, and scheduled trips, and transportation can mean a shuttle, complimentary rides, or help using the bus lines for off-site outings and medical appointments. There's also an on-site beauty salon and barbershop, so getting a haircut is easy, plus concierge services, mail collection, grocery delivery, and maintenance handled by staff.

Activities run all day, every day, with social and educational events, outings to Cincinnati golf courses or sporting events, movie nights, games, arts and crafts, religious services for a range of faiths including Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant services, with visiting rabbis and chaplains, and even Montessori-style programs for adults to stay mentally active. The community has a culture of kindness, and people find it easy to join in, whether it's gardening, attending concerts, creative workshops, or just relaxing in a sunny courtyard with neighbors. The grounds and buildings are kept up very nicely, and they've put in newer HVAC technology to improve air quality and cut down on germs. Security and safety systems run at all times. With flexible care, friendly staff, beautiful grounds, and many options for fun or relaxation, Evergreen Retirement Community gives older adults the chance to live comfortably, with support close by as needs change.
