    Modern income-based apartments with amenities

I live here and I'm very pleased with the modern, income-based apartments - large living area, walk-in shower, private balcony with an outlet and covered parking. Amenities are excellent: beauty salon, pool and pool parties, food-truck Tuesdays, special events, a small community garden and shuttle service (including trips to Wal-Mart); outings like BBQ picnics are fun. Staff are courteous and attentive - Kevin, the office team and head of maintenance really take care of residents - location is convenient across from the hospital.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is generally positive, with residents highlighting a mix of practical amenities, friendly staff, and affordability. Multiple reviewers characterize the community as "pretty good overall," and specific staff members and departments receive consistent praise. The office staff are described as courteous and patient, the maintenance team (and head of maintenance) is noted for being responsive and taking care of residents, and at least one staff member, Kevin, is called out by name as kind and polite. This creates an impression of a community with strong, attentive frontline staff and hands-on property management.

The physical facilities and apartment features are repeatedly mentioned as strengths. Units are described as modern with large living areas, large kitchens, private balconies (with outlets), walk-in showers, and handicap-accessible design elements. Elevators and covered parking add convenience, and the property’s location directly across from a hospital is an attractive practical benefit for residents who want proximity to medical services. The small community garden, on-site beauty salon, and swimming pool (with pool parties) add lifestyle value and social opportunities, while covered parking and private balconies are viewed as nice practical touches.

Transportation and neighborhood convenience show up as clear positives: there is a shuttle service, including a van shuttle to Walmart, and the site’s proximity to a hospital is noted. Programming-wise, the community offers regular special events such as food truck Tuesdays, barbecue picnics, and pool parties. These events, combined with occasional outings and some activities, provide social engagement and variety. However, the volume and breadth of activities are described only as "some," suggesting programming may be more limited compared with larger senior communities.

Dining and fitness are the primary drawbacks in the reviews. There is no central dining area and the community does not serve meals, which may be a significant consideration for prospective residents who want on-site meal service or communal dining. The fitness area is described as cramped, indicating limited exercise facilities or space. Together, these gaps point to a community that emphasizes independent living with social events rather than a higher level of institutional services like congregate dining or extensive wellness facilities.

Affordability and scale are recurring themes. The community is income-based and described as affordable, which likely contributes to its appeal. The small-scale nature of the property is a double-edged sword: it fosters a close-knit atmosphere, attentive staff relationships, and manageable programming, but it also likely limits communal spaces and the range of amenities (e.g., no dining room, limited fitness area). Prospective residents should weigh the benefits of affordability, modern apartments, and strong staff support against the desire for dining services and larger, more comprehensive fitness or activity programs.

In summary, The Savannah at Gateway appears to be a well-run, affordable, small-to-mid-sized independent-living community with modern apartments, thoughtful accessibility features, and a friendly, responsive staff. It offers meaningful social opportunities through special events, a pool, and periodic outings, as well as practical conveniences like shuttle service and covered parking. The chief limitations are the absence of a dining program and a cramped fitness area, along with potentially limited ongoing activities. For prospective residents who prioritize affordability, apartment quality, proximity to medical services, and attentive staff over on-site meal service and extensive wellness facilities, this community receives consistently favorable feedback.
