    Knowledgeable staff clean welcoming community

I had a very good tour - the staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and took time showing us around. The rooms, dining area, and facility are clean and well maintained; my mother was happy, and I'd choose this community for a loved one and would consider living there myself.

    About Gilpin Hall

Gilpin Hall sits in the Happy Valley neighborhood and has served seniors since 1824 as a non-profit community that's well known for its long tradition of caring. The facility focuses on skilled nursing care but also offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, rehabilitation, and adult day programs so residents can have different levels of help as their needs change. Residents get 12-16 hour nursing coverage and 24-hour supervision, plus help with daily activities if needed, and there's a full emergency alert system for safety. Nursing staff provide therapy services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with high acuity medical care, and home care and hospice services are close by.

People here like the easy access to nearby places such as St. Francis Hospital, Foulkstone Christiana Care, local pharmacies like CVS, and plenty of dining options including Big Fish Grill and Panera Bread. There's complimentary transportation and parking if you need to get around. The building has a unique design made to keep residents as independent and active as possible, with an arts room, library, fitness room, spa and wellness room, comfortable gathering spaces, and a clean, charming atmosphere. Gilpin Hall runs well-structured programs for both residents and day program participants, and everyone gets a chance to join resident-led or community-sponsored activities. The dining services keep meals varied and enjoyable.

Staff and nurses at Gilpin Hall get high praise for being friendly, kind, and regularly going above and beyond to keep things clean, safe, and comfortable. Many families say they notice the extra effort to nurture residents and help them feel at home. The Board of Managers and staff work hard to build on Gilpin Hall's strong history and make sure everyone feels included, with attention to diversity and independence, and there's always a feeling of a family setting in daily life here. Seniors can find support through nursing care, adult day programs, assisted living, memory care, and therapy, with services and amenities set up to allow each person to reach the highest level of independence possible. Community donations help keep many programs running, and the focus stays steady on the mission to enhance the quality of life for all who live there.
